Halls of Valhalla for Tiptop Audio Z-DSP

Published on Apr 11, 2014 ValhallaDSP·4 videos

"A demonstration of the Halls of Valhalla reverb cartridge for the Tiptop Audio Z-DSP. This video shows the revised algorithm that are going into the release build, with improved SNR and smoother modulation than the earlier demo.

The Halls of Valhalla has 8 high quality modulated reverb algorithms, ranging from short (Room, Chamber) to medium sized (Plate, EnsembleVerb), to big (Cathedral), to unbelievably huge (Niflheim, Asgard, Ginnungagap). It will be available soon wherever Tiptop Audio modules are sold.

Thanks to Don Gunn for recording/filming the demo."

BD909 for kick Z2040/Z4000 do the bass with a chord from ONE, HATS909 HATS808 and MA808 adds more hats. Switching sounds on ONE playing the BENT card, everything but the bass drum gets processed by the Z-DSP. A stereo from the Z-DSP into Apogee Elements88 and BD909 output to the Elements on another channel. Limiter is set on Abelton master and thats it."

Circadian Rhythms

Circadian Rhythms from Joseph Fraioli on Vimeo.

"a patch focused around the tiptop audio circadian rhythms (CR) as the heart of the system that provides the main clock source and triggers for events.

the programming was done on all 8 channels of the CR in 2x32 mode. fills are set to 16th note. mutes, fills and additional programming are performed on the fly.

patch basics:

CR ch 1: main kick
sound source is the blue lantern BDv4 going through the modcan frequency shifter.

CR ch 2: snare
sound source is the make noise mysteryon who’s pitch is being modulated by the mod can quad lfo who’s synced to the CR main clock output. the output was split into a separate VCA who’s being opened by the sound machines light plane and sent to the mungo d0 with macro machines storage strip. the storage strip is being sequenced by the CR main clock output.

CR ch 3: closed hat
sound source here is the SSF quantum rainbow blue noise.

CR ch 4: open hat
sound source is the SSF quantum rainbow white noise though the intellijel µfold and then a bit of delay from the synth tech e580.

CR ch 5: glass percussion as well as delayed bass and end melodic thing
glass percussion sound source is the noise engineering BI. pitch modulation from the tiptop z8000. delayed bass is an intellijel dixie square run through the cwejman res-4 and.end melodic thing is the harvestman piston honda MKII.

CR ch 6: chord bursts
this is the intellijel/cylonix shapeshifter in sequence mode then run thorough the qu-bit electronic RT60 reverb.

CR ch 7: tonal accents
sound source is braids in meta mode. also being sequenced by the CR and pith modulated by the tiptop z8000.

CR ch 8: sub kick
sound source is the tiptop audio BD808.

acidy bass: trigger source for the acidy bass is the intellijel metropolis that is synced to the CR via the clock output. sound source is the intellijel rubicon thats being FMed by a DIXIE sine, then put through the cwejman MMF1 in low pass.

tonal drones: trigger source here is the divided output of the intellijel metropolis into two make noise pressure points that have been micro tonally tuned. the sound sources here are synth tech e350 and make noise DPO that share a common mutable instruments peaks ADSR. the sounds are then processed through the serge resonant equalizer and tiptop audio zdsp with halls of valhalla reverb card.

hi plucked melody in mid section: this is the qu bit nebulae playing back a sample of mutable instruments braids in PLUK mode playing a melody sequenced on metropolis then fed to the mungo d0. the nebulae is then processed through flame FX6 reverb.

no computers or external hardware were used in this performance :)"

TIPTOP AUDIO: MINIMAL TECHNO

TIPTOP AUDIO: MINIMAL TECHNO from Station 252 on Vimeo.

"Minimal techno jam using mostly Tiptop Audio modules. Trying different ways to have two parallel sequences. Z8k is great for that: running two separately reset sequences on Z8000 - vertical 7 step is playing ONE loaded with DOTS sound filtered by Z2040 and opened by a couple of Z4000, horizontal 8 step is playing Z3000 (saw) running through Tiptop Fold Processor and R*S VQVCF again governed by a couple of Z4000s.

Also features:

BD808

ONE: Hi Hat sound (off DOTS) going through Roland Demora

ONE: Ghost snare sound - running through reverbs and delay - no dry sound

Long reverb: Z-DSP: Halls OPf Valhalla ROOM

Short reverb: Z-DSP: eVerb 80s Verb 2

Delay: Alright Devices Chronoblob (feedback through Tiptop Z2040, output through WMD SSF Multi Mode Filter (Hi Pass)

Gates and triggers sequenced by Tioptop Circadian Rhythms and Trigger Riot

Tiptop Z-DSP Review + first look at Reverb FDN + 5 other FX (with MiniBrute 2, Una Corda, Valhalla)

\
Published on Mar 19, 2018 loopop

"A full review of Tiptop Audio's Z-DSP including 6 FX cartridges: Halls of Valhalla, Dragonfly Delay, Spring Waves, Grain de Folie, Valhalla Shimmer and the upcoming Reverb FDN from anckorage

The Z-DSP is a stereo, cartridge based, open source, variable clock rate effects module. In this review I look at five of the existing effects cartridges, and a beta version of the upcoming Reverb FDN cartridge.

Each cartridge can contain up to 8 algorithms, and give you control over its parameters using 3 knobs. A clear LCD screen details the function of each of the knobs. Analog feedback is also available, with the ability to insert additional effects in the feedback loop. There's CV input for controlling the DSP's clock, and this can substantially impact the effect characteristics, for example, bit crushing a reverb, or pitch shifting a granular freeze.

I was initially interested in this module due the availability of the highly acclaimed Valhalla reverbs on it - however since additional cards are relatively inexpensive, it's nice to see the broad effects range this module can support.

In this clip I test the following modules:

1. Halls of Valhalla
2. Dragonfly Delay MK2
3. Grain de Folie
4. Spring Waves
5. Valhalla Shimmer
6. Reverb Feedback Delay Networks (beta)

Audio sources tested are:

1. Arturia MiniBrute 2
2. Una Corda by Native Instruments
3. Electric Sunburst by Native Instruments
4. Voice"

Valhalla DSP Shimmer card for Tiptop’s Z-DSP

Valhalla DSP Shimmer card for Tiptop's Z-DSP from Tiptop Audio on Vimeo.

"After the release of the Halls Of Valhalla Z-DSP card we thought things couldn’t get better then that, but Sean hit us again with this killer Shimmer card, I plugged it in and wow, this thing is an instant pad generator inside my modular. In this patch two Z3000 are mixed and sent to a lowpass filter and into the Z-DSP running Valhalla Shimmer. This is an all Tiptop system with an exception of the beautiful Cwajmen MMF-6 filter. The pitch is played by the Z8000 that is triggered manually by the Circadian Rhythms. Very simple patch to give you a simple idea of the potential of this card."

MATRIXSYNTH NAMM 2014: Tiptop Audio Booth - Tomio Direct Audio Video

Uploaded on Jan 30, 2014 matrixsynth·303 videos

http://tiptopaudio.com

Tomio rocking the Tiptop Audio eurorack system. Unfortunately the audio jack I plugged into was a bit low and noisy so you'll have turn it all the way up. Just remember to turn it back down afterwords, especial before watching The Schmidt video below. This system sounded absolutely insane live. The new Valhalla Reverb was in the Z-DSP in the right system. New Circadian Rhythm on the left driving things.
