Korg Volca FM Ambient Jam with Poly app & MS-70CDR

Published on Nov 20, 2017 Slenterende Beer

"I got inspired by other people using the Poly iOS app in their improvisations, so I decided to try it myself.

The Poly app generates notes in a defined range, resulting in polyrhythmic patterns. These notes are sent via MIDI to the Volca FM, which itself plays a loop of a few notes. I decided to with the Xylophone FM patch, without extra edits, just knob tweaking. The FM is connected to the Zoom MS-70CDR, which adds the delay and reverb. The output of the Zoom is sent to the Behringer UCA202 USB sound card, which is in turn connected to the iPhone 7 that is used for recording the video and audio."

Chill track with MS-20, monologue, Mopho, Virus, Volcas, X5DR and Novation KS4 + EMX-1

Published on Oct 27, 2017 Arrayzable

"Second track of three. The MS-20 mini plays the leading role as usual and also gets time to do some sound effects.
The Access Virus Indigo plays an arpeggio on and off through the track.
Volca Bass plays the deep round bass sequenced by the Electribe EMX-1.
The EMX-1 also sequences the Korg X5DR for pling sounds and strings. The EMX-1 also plays both drums and some other synth parts via it's own synth engine.
The Mopho is 'lending' the midi signal going to the Volca Bass playing an arpeggiated bass line.
Novation KS4 is playing a FM-bell-ish sound.
Monologue is playing a more vital role this time, as it assists the MS-20 in a two part harmony but also gets to do some soloing of it’s own.

Trackname: ‘Lewis’

Used in this track:
MS-20 mini (through Zoom MS-70CDR)
Access Virus Indigo
DSI Mopho
Korg X5DR
Monologue
Volca Bass
Volca Beats
Novation KS4

All analog session MONOLOGUE + MS-20 mini + Volca Beats + POLY-800 Tomorrow

Published on May 30, 2017 Arrayzable

"An all analogue session through digital recording and digital YouTube :)
I'm playing in my livingroom assisted by my wife on the Poly-800.
I composed this track shortly after getting the Monologue. My wife added some extra bits on the Poly-800.

I might have to revisit this track, to make a more polished version. I didn't use any sequencer this time, except for the Beats, So there are some hick-ups in the performance :D

Used in this track:
Korg Monologue
Korg MS-20 mini
Korg Poly 800 (through Zoom MS-70CDR)
Korg Volca Beats

Recording: Zoom R16

Trackname: Tomorrow"

Zoom MultiStomp + Sawtooth Wave = A Whole Synth?!

Published on Jun 7, 2019 Oscillator Sink

"Although it lost out to the Digitech Polara in my recent reverb shoot-out, the Zoom MS-70CDR's real strength comes from the fact that it's a "multi-effect" in the true sense of the term: you can run multiple different effect algorithms at the same time.

So bearing this fact in mind, and adding to that the wide range of effects it has on offer, I got to thinking: given only the most basic input of a raw sawtooth wave, could you build the rest of a synth using just the Zoom?.."

D.G. - Novatrance / Live Improvisation / Novation Ultranova / Launch Control XL / Trance

Published on Apr 22, 2018 Dee Gee

"Ok, here's my another live improvisation it's a bit old (one year, but still..)

I played it on Novation Ultranova using my own synth presets created from scratch, most of them have 2 voices.

I used DM2 (iOS app) to compose drum tracks in advance after that I switched between them during playing.

All were recorded live simultaneously via Focusrite Scarlet 8x6
Cubasis Mobile was used as a DAW

Ultranova was controlled by Launcontrol XL and a 25 key keyboard with faders (for an upper octave and volume control) they were routed via MIDI IO app.

Zoom multistomp MS-70CDR was used as an effect processor for Nova and recorded along with its clean sound. (from digital and analog outputs of the NOVA)

Mobile Set:

Hardware:
- Novation Ultranova
- Novation Launch Control XL
- 25 Key Midi Keyboard
- Powered USB Hub
- iPad PRO
- Focusrite Scarlet 8x6
- Zoom Multistomp MS-70CDR
- Sustain Pedal

Software:
- Cubasis
- MIDI IO
- DM2

Surfing on the grains on Glasgow // #JAMUARY2020 Day 4

Published on Jan 4, 2020 DivKidVideo

See the Synthuary label for more. Synthuary because these are the Jamuary synth videos. More below.

"For Day 4 of #JAMUARY2020 I wanted to create a more realised musical piece. If you get the "Surfing on the grains of Glasgow" leave a comment ... I thought that was a fun (or totally lame - let me know) title.

This piece is based on the audio left in the buffer of arbhar from this video - [posted here] - with lots of modulation from ochd that keeps the audio grains shifting through the buffer, in drifting intensities, with vary lengths and grain shapes we get a beautiful repurposing of 3 basic guitar chords with a few plucked strings in-between. There's 3 FX chains running from this that's all brought together as a stereo mix in the Eurorack system before recording."

Relaxation Music with Tibetan Singing Bowls and Synthesizers - VR 360° Video (Live Synth Jam)

Published on Apr 16, 2017 Ralph Baumgartl

Some 360° synth spotting. You'll need a browser other than Safari that supports it though.

"This Live Synth Jam is our first attempt at Relaxation and Meditation Music. My friend Bernie was using various Tibetan, Thai and Burmese Singing Bowls, Gongs and Chimes, which were recorded with a Zoom H2N audio recorder and mixed together with the Synthesizer and Keyboard recording from the mixer. This was a spontaneous idea to try out something that we haven’t done before. The video is VR 360°.

The gear list for the Synth Rig: Roland JD-Xi, Mini Korg-700, Minimoog Voyager, Memotron, Korg Micro-X, Strymon BigSky, Strymon Timeline, Zoom MS-70CDR."

Data Run [Cover] - Boutique / Circuit / Crave / MC-101 / PRO-1 / TR-8

Published on Jan 24, 2020

"This track was the theme tune to on of TV-am's early Saturday morning show, Data Run - 1983-84

Music by Vince Clarke, Sung by Alison Moyet, all I can find on the web is a couple of 40+ second videos of this track, I thought it was deserving enough to be fleshed out a little...

Thank you to kvfive for help with some of the audio samples.

As always, the track is played 'live' in one take - with no DAW, editing or post production.
