Wii controls LEMUR drums

"YAWD (Yet another Wii Demo). In this demo I have mapped the wii remote to trigger real drums. The amazing work is the LEMUR Percussion bots. I simply made a few MIDI connections in Max/MSP. I'm still working on a good acceleration to trigger (curve to point?) method. This current method is prone to double triggers when used with the LEMUR bots. This may be a function of MIDI message buffers and/or collisions in the output of Max (or my MIDI interface or the LEMUR firmware).

Any thoughts on quantization welcome... I was thinking if i knew more about machine learning it would be swell to train the quantization software to listen as I am playing and adjust the rules to fit with in the style I'm playing. The style training would have to happen in advance, but then it could adjust between swing time and speed metal quantization based on my playing (rather than pre-selecting the style...) Ideas for a Ph.D app?"

Waldorf MIDIBAY

via this auction

MIDI patch bay from Waldorf. Note the clear plastic on white background so you can write what each channel is for.

Update via Qwave in the comments: "Its not a clear plastic with white background. It is a clear pocket for a paper stripe to be inserted.

In case the original stripe is lost, you may do your own new one by using my scan.

I really like the MidiBay. And I wonder why the announced MidiBay II never went into developing. Today it would be easy to add message filters and merging. The original MidiBay uses a Z80 CPU."

JH Chorus/Vibrato/Scanner panel

via Scott of www.tellun.com on the ModularSynthPanels list:

"I've posted an image of my proposal for a combined chorus/vibrato/ scanner panel:

I wanted to get this to fit into 3U so I had to use small knobs and non-standard spacing, sorry. It's very similar to Dave Brown's panel; the 9 jacks/LEDs/pots along the left edge are on the same spacing as the UEG. I used a switch for the Celeste function, and both a switch and pot for Chorus/Vibrato control. The switch turns chorus on, and the pot sets the chorus depth. There was no room to add pots for the
input level and lowpass filter."

NYC EGYPTIAN LOVER 3/28/09 Live TR-808
"Egyptian Lover, the 80 west coast electro / hip hop pioneer will be performing this saturday at Santos, he brings his 808 and plays it live. if you aren't familiar with hsi stuff, you maybe won't care, but it's very planet rock kind of stuff, and he opened for MIA last year, so he knows how to rock a crowd.

Santos just upgraded their sound system too, so It will be nice to hear the 808 live on a nice system."

via Alex: "I Saw him at the Bloc 09 festival here in England and the live 808 section was a thing of beauty. Recommended - he rocked"
