SYNTHBOY+ Interface Dock for Nintendo Gameboy

"Dust off that first gen Gameboy as we have a very cool interface dock that converts the handheld gaming system into a state of the art 8 bit sound machine. There is a growing community of musicians and audio artists that are using these old gaming system sounds. We have used some of the achievements from the 8 bit community and created the SYNTHBOY+. Easy to plug into your mixer or home stereo with all of the various outputs. Midi IN/OUT makes it easy to connect to almost any keyboard. We have a limited number of units available on Kickstarter.com.

So please grab one and support the effort to save these older gaming systems and rock out to some old school Tetris sounds. This is recycling at its best. We really wanted everyone to be able to get one of these, so we went smaller and more affordable. You can even send in your working Gameboy and we will modify it for you. Thank you for your time and I hope you love the old gaming system sounds as much as we do."

"i hooked the korg wave drum up to the korg kaossilator pro and took them for a test run with a quick, peaceful improv jam and looping demonstration...this is just a small sample of what these two machines can do together...shot with a panasonic lumix g3 20mm f1.7 and recorded dry with a roland micro br."

Geir Jenssen's studio

"Talk about minimal. Can you believe the mind that produced Substrata uses such a sparse arrangement? Two vintage analogue synths (Powertran Transcendent 2000, Oxford OSCar), one modern digital "virtual analogue" (Nord Rack 3), a mid-90s sampler (Akai S3200) and a MacBook Pro. I'm not sure what is the tiny controller, maybe an Akai nano Keyboard? Photo by Geir Jenssen."

"It's modelled after the Mini and much of the sound path and layout is the same. In addition precision vernier dials ensure you can tune the three oscillators very accurately. There are also quite a few more modulation destinations than the original and a built in Kenton Pro Solo provides excellent midi control. The result is basically a sound designer's dream. This Synth also produces the fattest, deepest bass I've ever heard.

One of only around 150 made this Synth is seriously rare. It was personally taken up to the latest production specs (their were two versions/runs) but the designer Ken Macbeth in 2004. It's in perfect working and near mint condition. The oscillators stay in tune perfectly and there's no need to calibrate it after every session. This is basically the best way of getting fat, vintage sounds without all the maintenance hassles.

Boxed Ear Mighty M5 Kontakt Sample Set

"The Macbeth M5 is a mighty beast, in both size and sound. It's a monophonic, three oscillator, two filter, semi-modular analogue synthesizer, crafted by master Scottish synth wizard, Ken Macbeth. These synths were made to order and are now discontinued, which makes them quite rare. Even if you have a spare $5000, finding one on the second hand market can be tricky.

The M5's sound is characterised by its full, rich bass, crystal high end and distinctly analog tone. Even the raw waveforms sound gorgeous with no filtering or modulation. Huge basses and leads, luscious pads, electric pianos, drums, one-shot effects, and crazy modular bleep and bloops are all included in this pack.

One of the pleasures of sampling such an instrument is being able to play it polyphonically, and believe us, it sounds amazing.

The Mighty M5, sometimes raw, sometimes soft and beautiful, but always full of attitude."

Casperelectronics NOVA DRONE sound and light synth

YouTube Published on Jun 17, 2012 by bubagoo

"The Nova Drone is an open source, analog experimental sound and light synth from casperelectronics.
It it can be used to create effects ranging from slowly fading drones to chaotic harmonic sequences.
The Nova Drones offers 9 potentiometers, 9 switches, 6 oscillators, 3 oscillator sync inputs and an epic 15 voltage outputs as well as 3 high current outputs for controlling external LEDs. All of the ins and outs have been routed to a prototyping breadboard at the bottom of the unit which allows for liberal experimentation and development of custom circuits. The prototyping area is especially useful for syncing the oscillators of 2 or more Nova Drones together.
