"Deep Signal Studios is proud to announce our second Vintage Synth Recording Workshop. It will be held Saturday, July 23rd at our new studio in Lakewood, CA (20mi south of downtown LA).

For $49 you get 3 hours of use of over 50 synthesizer keyboards, sound modules, samplers, drum machines and drum sound modules including products from Moog, Roland, Oberheim, Korg, Yamaha and more. You may reserve 3 instruments and use any unreserved instrument during your session. We will also have engineers available during the workshop. Capacity is extremely limited to ensure everyone will have a chance to use all gear available. Bring your laptop, audio interface and headphones.

"Short Patch experiment with a few new modules, including the Mutant BD9, Mutant Snare, Pico Drums x 2, running through various effects. The main CV modulation sources in the patch are the Modcan Quad LFO, and the new Forge which was used to create a fast quick modulation bursts to the Amp decay Pitch etc on the BD9. Drones via the Music Thing Radio Music, playing a feedback drone wave going through the Tiptop Z-DSP "Halls of Valhalla card, program 7.

I ran the BD9 through the new black hole DSP module by Erica Synths, and the Mutable Instruments Clouds running a unreleased firmware, and finally some Rainmaker X 2 for the snare processing, pitch delays. There is also a bit of Z-DSP, Eventide H9, AD Reverb, OWL, and ErbVerb too. Enjoy, download to the audio file below. :-)

"It's a versatile six voice synth with huge potential for modulation routings thanks to the Oberheim "modulation matrix" which was featured in the synths of the same name. You can route just about anything to anything else quite frankly. The keyboard is velocity and also aftertouch sensitive so allows for some quite expressive playing when called upon. There are two DCOs per voice with the remaining audio path being analogue. The envelopes are digitally generated but there's no stepping in the feel of them even when slow. It's great for pads and strings as well as far out crazy modular effects too. There are a number of editors for these and even with the data entry, programming is not too tricky, especially as there's a handy crib sheet on the panel."
