"The classic ARP Odyssey recreated at 86% the size of the original. The Odyssey has an unmistakable bright sound and has made it on countless records through the years. Korg has added a few small features like a MIDI in and USB for use with modern gear along with a 3 position filter switch which allows you to experience all the different Odyssey filter circuits. Besides those small additions and the size difference, everything else is true to the original. This model is the black with gold print REV 2 version and includes the original hard shell case, manual and power supply."

Meng Qi Karp And Detroit Underground DU-KRPLS Karplus Strong Modules

Published on Dec 26, 2018 Perfect Circuit

"Meng Qi has two Karplus Stong digital waveguide eurorack modules, the Karp (https://www.perfectcircuit.com/meng-q...) which has an agressive glitchy sound, or the Detroit Underground collaboration version DU-KRPLS (https://www.perfectcircuit.com/meng-q...) which has a unique circuit bent sound. These modules are great for percussion and sound effects, but can also produce weird melodies. In this video the Malekko Varigate 4+ sequences everything and additional drum sounds come from the SSF Entity Percussion Synthesizer and Dave Smith Instruments Feedback module."

Islands for Monome Norns

Published on Dec 26, 2018 junklight

"Islands is a script for Norns I'm working on at the moment - it's a multitimbral FM synth 4 separate 'layers' - each layer is equipped with a Frippertronic style looper - but event based rather than audio based as well as a channel of the built in Kria sequencer"

Synth Jams I is a compilation of tracks recorded live using analog and digital synthesizers and drum machines. The songs were created from improvisations with different instruments and were captured practically the moment after the creation. The performances have been posted on YouTube over the last 3 years.

With influences from the songs and the timbres of artists like Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Erik Norlander and Kebu, besides several works of electronic / instrumental music, the tracks of the album do not have a common style, but they share a main element: the sounds created with synthesizers.

In this process, the idea was to interact with the instruments, create and manipulate sounds in real time. It was also part of the plan to leave the computer and music production software out of this process. Therefore, anything that could not be played simultaneously live was performed by a MIDI sequencer.

Gear used on Synth Jams I:

►Analog Synths: Arp Odyssey, Moog Sub 37, Dave Smith Instruments Mopho Keyboard & TETRA, Behringer Deepmind 12.
►Digital Synths: Korg Radias, Roland JP8080, Roland SH-32, Access Vírus Indigo, Yamaha DX7II, Nord Stage 2EX.
►Drum Machines & Grooveboxes: Roland MC-808, Roland TR-626, MFB 522, Korg Electribe ER-1, Novation Circuit.

All tracks were recorded with iPhone using the Guitar Jack 2 Audio Interface and the AudioShare app. I connected the mixer outputs to an audio interface connected to the iPhone and made the recordings."

A fishy speedpainting ambient music video! Made on the iPad Pro #TTNM

Published on Dec 26, 2018 The Tuesday Night Machines

"Okay, people. Here’s another Apple Pencil 2 painting time-lapse video, this time of a kitschy fish, with a new ambient music synth jam as audio track. Take a break and relax to this experience ;) This video was created entirely on the iPad Pro. MORE INFO BELOW!

Gear used:
- iPad Pro 11“ 2018 with Apple Pencil 2 and a bunch of Apps:
Procreate (drawing and timelapse)
LumaFusion (video editing and export)
AUM (audio routing, recording, mixing and lots more)
Volt (expressive synthesizer)
Tardigrain (granular synth)
DM1 (drum machine)
Axon 2 (drum machine)
various audio FX Apps
YouTube (video uploading and sharing)

This was a test if I could create a music video entirely on the iPad Pro without a “computer” involved, and it worked out incredibly well. As you might know, I’m a big fan of AUM for the whole audio and synth thing, so that wasn’t anything new to me. Video editing however was something I have never done before on the tablet and using LumaFusion for it was amazing. It’s no Final Cut X of course (my NLE of choice, since I decided to drop Premiere Pro), but it does offer a lot of features and controls that are good to work with. Unfortunately it doesn’t allow HDR mastering, but that’s a pretty special request for any software still ;) I have the feeling that I could do anything I need on mobile devices now and I will explore this workflow further with a little bit of new gear too, because I obviously want to continue to create videos with real-life footage of my synthesizer jamming. Drawing is fun though, even if that Apple Pencil 2 still behaves a bit weird ... I figured out that the magnetic edge on the iPad and/or Pencil 2 doesn’t always realize that the stylus is attached and won’t charge it then. This was actually the reason for the problem I wrote about in my previous speedpainting video.

Questions or comments? Go ahead and post them below! :) Thanks for watching! Check out my channel for more Synthesizer Music.

BURG - periorbital dark circles

#eurorack #volca #elektron #AvalonBassline

I have introduced some new gear lately in the studio, my #intellijel 84HP has been upgraded to a 104HP, plus that the old monologue is back. I wanted to make a little bit bigger session to balance the #BURG1K session i have been doing for the past few weeks. :)

Track started out experimenting with the uO_C, using it in harrington 1200 with the 3x A111-3 VCOs from doepfer. Very fun to finally be able to make some chords in the modular, this is one of the reasons I wanted to get a bigger case.

Also, the BIA is doing percussion, Rings is doing.. well what rings does plus the MI tides (with sheep fw) doing some wavetable action. Great fun patch, with a lot of modulation going on.

Also new is the digitone, but it is not really doing much .. just sequencing the vBass (low end) plus some FX processing for the korg vKeys.

Tricking out the monologues as a 2xVCO main lead sound on this one BURG style, as you can hear the filter is not really ms-20.. but it is close enough. Paired with the strymon el capistan it gets that nice tape style vibe.

TR8s on 707 drums + some extra percussion from the digitakt, and the avalon bassline, well, does a bassline :)

I hope you will enjoy this one!

BooOooM!

Gear Used:

- Roland TR-8s, drums, percussion and master Side Chain FX for digitone, vKeys, vBass
- KORG volca Keys and Bass
- Elektron Digitakt, Digitone
- Elektron Analog Four (just FX and sequencer)
- Makenoise 0-coast
- Avalon Bassline
- KORG monologue"
