Synthesis Technology E520 *prototype* // Tape style SOS loops, spectral weirdness, new FX + more!

Premiered Dec 12, 2019 DivKidVideo

Note the Kickstarter campaign ends tomorrow, Sunday, Dec 15.

"Here’s the second video with the already lovely sounding E520 big exposed prototype from Synthesis Technology. This will be a Eurorack module for it’s release next year but this is just the development prototype. In this video we explore some other FX, some updates to things we’ve already seen and bathe in not only a lovely shimmer bath … but some gorgeous tape style degradation loops that deteriorate with feedback, warble, saturation and filtering like real tape based sound on sound looping. Heck, I even broke out the Telecaster for a change. Skip around, any questions just ask, if you go back this be sure to get your ideas heard and give feedback to shape the product on Kickstarter and as always I’ll see you next time. Ba-bye.

DX5 playing New Order "Blue Monday" (Wonder Woman 84 arrangement version)

Premieres Dec 14, 2019 DX5

"** At 03:50 starts the movie OST arrangement **.
I was up to revisite this instrumental cover I've already made twice in the past. As I liked the arrangements for the upcoming Wonder Woman 84 movie OST (Hans Zimmer me thinks?), I decided to play New Order's 'Blue Monday' again, building a backtrack more faithful to the studio version in combination with some of the OST arrangements. [previous versions here]

Gear used:
Roland MRS-2 Promars
Emu Emax II (massively)
Kurzweil PC1x (With its mighty strings)
Roland JP8000.

No sample from the original song were used. (Just Kraftwerk's 'Uranium' choir).
Backtrack previously recorded on Pro Tools. Lead sound: Roland JP8000.
Original song composed by Gillian Gilbert, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris, Bernard Sumner.
Wonder Woman 84 arrangements: Hans Zimmer
Performed here by DX5 Jose Maria Bara."

Novation Spotlight: GLXY

via Novation where you'll find the full interview.

"Straight after their show at our Novation London Pop-up Store, we got a chance to ask UK drum & bass duo GLXY a few questions about their inspirations, where their musical journeys began, and find out some more about the album the pair have spent 2019 working on.

GLXY are creating a real buzz with their soul-drenched style of production. Having signed to UK drum & bass label Shogun Audio back in 2017, their single ‘Lucid’ grabbed the attention of BBC Radio 1 legend Annie Mac after receiving its radio premiere from Rene La Vice on the Drum and Bass show - he dubbed the track as a ‘baby maker’ which sums up the luscious inviting tones in their production. Following up on their first Shogun release, the duo have continued to deliver with ‘Vision EP’ and ‘Chiral EP’ both of which clearly document their richly melodic tones and ability to work alongside amazing vocalists such as DRS and Solah. Discover a little more about GLXY below."

Novation Bass Station II / Yamaha PSS-580 / PSS-460 / TC Electronic Alter Ego - From the Live Room 6

Published on Dec 13, 2019 Alfonse

"Get the track here: https://alfonse.bandcamp.com/album/fr...

Live jam featuring Ian Bostic on drums and Alfonse on the Novation Bass Station ii, as well as the 1986 Yamaha PSS-460 and 1989 Yamaha PSS-580 FM mini-synths. The PSS-460 tracks were overdubbed later (the lead was double-tracked and slightly detuned to sound a little bigger), with effects provided by two TC Electronic pedals: Alter Ego delay on the Copycat and Specho settings and the Hall of Fame mini reverb.
