HEADROOM WIP by itijik | MUSIC PROCESS for CHOP SHOP 0420 Ableton Live 10 | itijik Pro Club

Published on Apr 18, 2020 itijik

"Here's an hour of exploring with the chop shop sample pack for April, 0420! I used multiple Ableton Live auto filters and arps to get some lively dnb style percussion with the fvrewell- nicki mouth noise 2 and itijik bong water samples. The bass is edited from Chris Fincher's bass improv, lots to choose from in there! I might edit in a bass part from that material instead of the line I came up with here. I'm taking a more patient approach this time (even though me and the squad only have a couple weeks to deadline), not rushing to the next part too quickly and trying to find the right vibe while playing. I hope you enjoy watching the process.

The itijik Pro Club has a monthly challenge called the Chop Shop. Our samples and recordings are added into a limited sample pool. Then everyone has one month to strictly use these samples to create their "Chops". On the first of each month we submit them for the club to hear and give feedback. Then we post the resulting mix video publicly and promote! It's all about regular practice and elevating your production, and a little bit of showing off your chops!

If you're pushing your music and/or career to new levels, JOIN THE CLUB now and reserve your spot in the squad. Soon the value offered will go through the roof and the price will be increased, get in now for only $5/mo so you can get to know everyone and make some music! Our goal is 1000 members to work with and support. After we have our squad together we will no longer be accepting new members.

Korg NTS-1 Sounds Immense Over Midi! - No External FX -Warm Up Jam

Published on Apr 18, 2020 ChrisLody

"A new toy arrived in the post today, the Korg Nutekt NTS-1 kit synth! I've been waiting a fair while for this to arrive due to delays with it being released here in the UK, even before the outbreak began, but the wait was worth it.

The first thing I did after I popped it together was to get the USB midi up and running as I do like to explore things with a keyboard attached if at all possible. Turns out the NTS-1 sounds absolutely massive when programmed correctly. It responds to velocity over midi nicely with it being routed directly to volume so getting a bit of expression going is easy. Also here I'm controlling how far the filter envelope opens (or filter sweep as it's known) by changing how legato and staccato my playing is. This is 100% NTS-1 with no external FX, sound great!

Only negative I've discovered so far is USB noise. I need to invest in a ground loop isolator or a minijack to din midi adapter, or both. I'm using Reapers Reafir Subtract setting here to remove the noise in realtime."

Customizing Synthesizers, Model:Samples

Some video of the inside of Model:Samples as well.

"I've been thinking about this since day one. The Elektron Model:Samples, while totally a capable and affordable sample groovebox, the plain white design didn't really speak to me. I've been wanting to give it a colourful makeover from day one. So here it is.

Used in this video:
Elektron Model Samples
Molotow Acrylic Markers
Montana Primer spray
Montana Varnish spray
Time
Patience

Camera and audio:
Panasonic GH5
Sennheiser e935
Audiofuse
Soyuz Launcher
iPad Pro"

"Now all but discontinued - the MT-90U is Roland's last all-in-one General MIDI playing 'Music Tutor'. It's also the only model in the range to feature a USB port rather than a floppy disk drive."

Patch of the Week 54: minilogue + NTS-1 Sound-on-sound Drone Looping

Published on Apr 17, 2020 Korg

"Everyone loves looping, so we created a drone track using just the Korg minilogue and the Nu:Tekt NTS-1 as a pseudo 'tape' looper. Time to get lost in the loops!"
