Model:Cycles + iPad Ambient Space Exploration

video upload by Perplex On

"It’s sometimes challenging and fun to use a machine in a way it isn't necessarily common to use. I got myself a model:cycles recently and tried to push it into ambient territory. By using a little helper app on the ipad called #polythemus it’s basically possible to use all six tracks on the cycles at the same time by allocating the voices per channel, so it’s actually possible to play the cycles like a six-voice fm synth. Here i'm actually only using 4 tone tracks, sequenced by #riffer going into #chordjam. Additional fx by routing the incoming audio through #velvetmachine for a smooooooth envelope as well as #rymdigare for a bit of extra space sprinkles."

Essence Vol 1 - Patches 65 to 96 - Sequential Take 5

video upload by GEOSynths

GEOSynths Sequential Take 5 posts

"Out Thursday 14th October 2021

I love this little Synth, it has such a great Sound Engine to it. I wasn't going to bother with it as I've done quite a lot of Patches for Sequential Synths, however I decided it would be worth trying at least and the the next thing I knew, I'd made a load of Sounds!

In Essence vol 1 there is 128 Patches covering Pads and Motion Sounds...Of course, that's what I do best! Also cutting Leads and Bass, Poly and traditional Sounds. The combination of VCO/VCF/Mod Matrix is quite spectacular on the Take 5 and I've been creating textures which I've not heard before on Sequential Synths.

Here are the next 32 demonstrated, hope you enjoy them and watch out for the last video.

Melotus Versio is a stereo texturizer that uses granular processing to transform and reshape sound. Designed to be played by hand or manipulated within a patch, Melotus is everything from a grain delay to a completely transformative texturizer with grain control and manipulation of triggering, direction, and randomness. Filter audio with a lowpass/highpass combo filter that adds haunting shimmers and subharmonics. Freeze grains by hand or with triggers and gates, or clock them to create rhythmic effects.

The Noise Engineering team has been thinking about granular processors for a long time. Said Doer of Many Things Kris Kaiser, "We have several different approaches we’re interested in with granular. We’ve been thinking of Melotus Versio one as 'granular for the Doombient generation.'”

Melotus Versio is part of the Versio DSP platform: transform it into a completely different effect by loading a growing number of alternate firmwares, including reverb, delay, distortion, and more, completely free at the Noise Engineering Customer Portal: https://portal.noiseengineering.us

Noise Engineering Introduces Vice Virga 8-input, 8-output Sequential Switch

official modular synth demo video upload by Noise Engineering

"Pre-order the Vice Virga today! This module ships on Thursday, October 14, 2021. https://noiseengineering.us/products/...

Vice Virga is our long-awaited 8-input, 8-output sequential/addressable switch . Equal parts automated patch arranger and performance tool, VV can be configured as a single 8-channel switch, two 4-channel switches, or four 2-channel switches, effectively giving you three sequential switches for the price of one. Advance going Forward, Reverse, or Pendulum. The Behavior switch adds a Noise Engineering touch: choose Seq for simple sequential switch mode, a random single output per step mode, and a mode for complete chaos: signals are routed within their group to zero, one, or several outputs per step. And it does it all in only 8HP.

Stephen McCaul, the Chief Noisemaker of Noise Engineering, said that Vice Virga has been a long time in the making: 'Vice Virga is one of the first modules I started to design when Noise Engineering was still a hobby, but things just always got in the way of finishing it off. Getting this one right took a lot of work; Kris, the Doer We’re happy to finally put this out into the world.'"

Pittsburg Modular Introduces Flamingo Harmonic Interpolation Eurorack Module

via Pittsburg Modular

"Modular Synthesis Safari
Limited Production Experiments

A glimpse into our design process, the Safari modules give Richard and Michael an opportunity to highlight interesting concepts, test ideas for future instruments, and scratch their creative itch. We have built a small number of each of the Safari modules and because these designs are meant to be a proof of concept or work in progress, we do not plan on making more.

Series 2

Flamingo (available soon)
Expanding on a concept discussed but never implemented by Don Buchla, the Flamingo introduces Center Clipping and Harmonic Interpolation to analog synthesis.

Center Clipping is a method of shaping a waveform from the inside out. Independently pulling the top half or bottom half of a waveform toward the middle. Fun.

Taking it a step further, Overtone adds another dimension to the analog waveform gymnastics by sliding and inverting the top and/or bottom of the waveform back on itself creating new types of wave shapes and shifting the fundamental in and out of the waveform.

The complex wave shaping capabilities of Center Clipping come at a cost. Center Clipping is a destructive process that can dramatically reduce the amplitude of waveforms. Harmonic Interpolation is the process of attempting to restore the center clipped waveform by allowing the analog circuitry to guess what the waveform should look like. Results will vary."

video upload by Brian Comnes

"This video documents the Kawai XD5 I'm selling on Reverb, enjoy, its not just a drum box"

via this auction

"Kawai XD-5 percussion synthesizer module in excellent condition with DC16 RAM card, power supply and full documentation including schematics.

Be sure to check out the video walk thru made with this actual unit for sale. This synth is more than a drum box!

This is an awesome drum synth module that has 256 waveforms, four of which can be combined to create a single drum or synth sound.

You build an array of 64 patches, from there you assign them to a "kit" spanning 88 keys and save it. You can have 16 Kits ready to rock.

It has great resonant lowpass filters and envelopes for shaping the sounds and is excellent for techno, electro and industrial drums, basslines and leads. For effects, a delay type effect is possible as well as a ring-modulator.

Patches can be directed to stereo out or 6 individual outs . Directing your kicks to a separate out and then to a compressor really makes them punchy.
There are 32 digital oscillators, 256 waveforms (16-bit, 44.1kHz resolution) comprised of
41 DC (Digital Cyclic) and
215 CM waveforms,
16 note polyphony,
64 user patches,
16 user drum kits,
a 16 x 2 character backlit LCD display screen, 2-space rack mountable

This XD-5 is in great shape and comes as pictured with a photocopy of the Owner's Manual, Patch List (Factory Preset), Wave List / MDI Data Format manual
includes a 12V wall wart power supply."

Free Elektron Model:Samples Sample Pack by RedStripeDown

Available on Reverb here

"Elektron's Model:Samples is an affordable groovebox you can use to make full tracks at home or on the go. While the machine includes 300 sounds already, the real fun begins when you add samples of your own. RedStripeDown created this free, exclusive sample pack for Reverb and Elektron. It includes 8 different drum kits, each including 8 individual kick, snare, clap, and other percussion sounds.

All sounds are in the easy-to-use wav file format. They'll sound great in the Elektron Model:Samples but will work in any other audio sampler or DAW.

Hear the sample pack in action in Reverb's video with RedStripeDown and Fess Grandiose above.

If you're a Model:Cycles user, you should also get RedStripeDown's free Model:Cycles preset pack. Find that here."
