"(Scotts Valley, CA, December 17, 2019) — Rossum Electro-Music has announced the release of Software Version 2.0 for their Assimil8or Phase Modulation Sampler Eurorack module.

Designed to provide a powerful, flexible sampling engine for modular synthesis, the Assimil8or Multi-Timbral Phase Modulation Sampler module is the latest incarnation of Dave Rossum’s decades-long pioneering of affordable professional sampling technology. Assimil8or 2.0 software brings a host powerful new features and major workflow enhancements. Taken together, they result in Assimil8or's evolution into an even more powerful and easy-to-use sampling module.

Assimil8or 2.0 software is a free download for current Assimil8or owners. It can be downloaded at http://www.rossum-electro.com/products/assimil8or.

ESK - Assimil8or Dishes with Clouds Flavour

"To test the new arrived Assimil8or i made some sequences. I also used the Mutable Instruments Clouds as effect.

1. The MFB SEQ-01 Pro is triggering a 808 patch on the Assimil8or.
2. The MFB SEQ-01 Pro is triggering voice samples on the Assimil8or and some analog MFB drums.
The samples have some pan and pitch modulation. I changed manually the start point on one of the samples.
3. Again the MFB SEQ-01 Pro as main sequencer with different patches on the Assimil8or. Additional drums from MFB and an FX sound with the Synthesis Technology E350 OSC.
4. Sample scrubbing and a lot of Clouds FX.

"Jam with 4 drumsounds from the Rossum Electro Assimil8or, 2 analog MFB drumsounds, 1 Braids drumsound, 2 Assimil8or effectsounds and 2 tonal Assimil8or voices.
All used Assimil8or samples are made with this modular.
For effects i used twice the Roland Demora delay.
All is sequenced by the MFB SEQ-01 Pro sequencer and the VPME Euclidean Circles."

"Here we have some one shot drum sounds I created for the default sound banks that come with Assimil8or and in this video we look at making a beat as well as adding linear FM to the one shot sounds (sounds fantastic) as well as modulating panning to create a shifting modulate drum beat using the stereo mixed output.

In my first video with the Assimil8or we looked at speeding up a spoken word to create a short synth like tone from a short loop and then using the wide ranging pitch control and bit crushing to make new synth tones and riffs. Check that out here" [posted here]

Channel Operations Menu

When on the Channels page, double-click the DATA1 encoder to bring up a popup menu containing channel operations:

Cancel: Pretty self-evident

Explode (2-8): Automatically duplicates the current channel’s sample into the selected number of channels and sets the sample and loop start and end points to successive even fractions of the entire sample. So, in effect, divides the sample into “x” equal hunks and automatically assigns them to successive channels. Great for splitting precisely edited loops into individual beats or phrases and accessing them on a channel by channel basis. It works on multiple zones simultaneously and also edits the right side if the sample is stereo.

"On this episode of 54HP we built a lo-fi sample based groovebox case with the new Assimil8or as the sound generating core. This 8 track sampler and sample player can play back sounds as well as DC coupled CV sequences and modulation. The Assimil8or is capable of high quality sample playback as well, but features bit reduction and lo-fi aliasing options. Clock dividers and mathematical sequencers were used to trigger the samples and the Mum M8 filter adds some more lo-fi sampler character at the end of the chain.
