Minimoog Model D Old vs New

Published on Mar 19, 2017 AudioCentralMagazine

Playlist:

Minimoog Model D old vs new - Part 1
"The first part of a direct - and probably useless - comparison between our beaten and worn Model D SN 1845E from the Seventies and a brand new Model D SN 007 2016. In this part: tuning and beating... How to reach nearly zero beating on the old machine, how to reach slow beating on the new machine. As usual, tweaking with parameters, you'll obtain same result. As usual, two analog machines will NEVER play exactly the same; small differences as in the real life."

Moog Minimoog D old vs new - Part 2
"In this video, a direct comparison between old and new Model D. Filter Sweep slow with and without resonance, manually opened and under envelope control. Some waveform switching for square waves."

Minimoog Model D old vs new - Part 3
"Part 3 of comparison between old and new Model D. Some patch programming with matching (and not-so-matching) of parameters. As usual, in analog machines, physical position of front panel controls doesn't means nothing - it all depends on internal trimming points."

Moog Minimoog Model D old vs new Part 4
"On this video, Grp R24 Step Sequencer is driving Model D vintage (row B) and Model D 2016 (row A) with same sequence of notes (yep!). Row C drives both cutoff frequencies on synthesizers. Some Ratcheting 2x on some steps."

NEWS

Organizing an event like the Torino Synth Meeting is a complex operation which requires months of work and precious and essential contributions by numerous people in addition to the professionalism of the organizational staff with communication and image offices, press offices, logistic offices, technical offices and much more. For this reason, in order to coordinate in the most efficient way the dense and substantial work which will need to be done in prevision of organizing the next TSM, which will take place on the days of 27 and 28 May 2017, it has been decided to create a cultural association which will manage the brand SYNTH MEETING owned by Francesco Mulassano for the realization of the event (and collateral events) and to coordinate all the various figures and competences whose contribution is necessary for the event to take place.NOISECOLLECTIVE is the name chosen for the Association (www.noisecollective.net) whose activity will consist exactly of the realization of the Torino Synth Meeting main event as well as the organization of other events such as training courses, workshops, single brand showcases, fairs and musical events.

5. Grp A2 Synthesizer Arpeggio - "In Grp A2 Synthesizer, you can modulate the Cutoff Frequency with a wealth of audio rate signals (VCO 1, VCO 2, Ring Mod Out). If the modulating oscillator is producing a "simple" waveform, no problem. But if the modulation is, in audio rate, from a Super Saw or a Super Triangle..."

6. Grp A2 Synthesizer Sequencing - "Grp A2 Synthesizer is under control of 960 Sequential Controller. Row 1 goes to Pitch (VCO 1+VCO2), Row 2 goes to Filter Cutoff, Row 3 Goes to VCO 2 Frequency. After a first impression of out-of-tune, the separate sequenced values for VCO2 are fine for Ring Modulation between VCO1 and VCO2. Don't forget the Ring Modulation with the 9 SuperSaw and SuperTriangle."

"The crystal clear ER-100 8 Channel Audio Mixer from Arrel Audio is the first Euro Rack module entirely conceived by Livio Argentini (guru of professional analog consolles) and Marco Re (from University Tor Vergata in Rome). Eight channel of transparent audio connected to separate outs of TR-808, Dark Energy under Dark Time Control. Stereo Insert is connected to TC Electronic Flashback Delay. No musical value on this video, just channel level over channel level over channel level."

Product description in Googlish via ARREL.

"The ARREL Eurorack Audio Stereo Summing Mixer is an adder by the high quality of sound that responds to many of the needs of modern users of modules and synth Eurorack. The ER-100 circuits are designed deriving them from the professional audio Kingdom of ARREL Audio ensure the highest sonic performance.

L 'ER-100 uses the line transformer output enabling an output level of about 10 dB higher than that of traditional Eurorack modules. The innuscita Use of line transformers also means a more reliable connection in terms of the possibility of imbalance and elimination of ground loops problems. L 'ER-100 has 8 channels of input and a stereo output bus.

Each channel has a pan pot control, volume, and the button only in place, pressing more buttons for only those channels will be added simultaneously output. L 'unit has a stereo insert selectable on the output bus. Its monitor section, has volume control L / R, and is also an auxiliary input provided to monitor the output of a DAC or CD. The level of the stereo output and displayed on a VU meter LED."
