"(c) 2013 vintage sampler demo by RetroSound

The Emax from the year 1988 is the follower of the Emulator II. A 12 bit sampler with analog filters (SSM 2047). The sound is vintage, organic and really cool. The next generation the Emax II has unfortunately digital filters and the sound is very different to the Emax. Depeche Mode used the Emax in the studio and at the 101 tour."

Rheyne - Live Jam #83 (coffee table jam)

Published on Jul 11, 2013 RheyneMusic·116 videos

"Live looping with KMI controllers, two wireless iPads running Lemur, and Ableton Live. All loops are recorded live, nothing was pre-recorded.

The KMI 12-step is mapped to four separate loopers for each instrument (drums, piano, two synths). In this video, only the looper for the drums is being triggered, and the remaining loops are recorded into clip slots and toggled via Lemur running Live Control 2.0. Both instances of Lemur on the iPads are wirelessly controlling Ableton Live via an ad-hoc network. The Lemur keyboards are controlling two separate instances of NI's Massive. The audio-out from the Macbook was split to headphones and a Zoom Q3HD. The video was recorded with a Canon T3i.

...and my apologies on that last chord... missed one of the notes! But if I edited it, it wouldn't be live anymore.

Ult Sound Pro Muzer DS2 dual analog drum synth by Toyo Gakki

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This is an incredbily rare dual analog drum synth made in Japan.

It compares to the Coron and JHS analog drum synths sometimes seen in the UK, to the early Synare products, and to the original Simmons analog drums.

You'll probably never see another one of these on sale, so now's your only chance to own one.

Each of the two independent drum sounds has sensitivity, octave, tuning, up or down sweep depth and output level controls.

Channel 1 can be switched from Cymbal (white noise) to square or sine wave outputs, and Channel 2 from Snare to square or sine wave output.

The rear panel has quarter inch jack trigger inputs and the casing lid has built-in rubber drum pads containing piezo triggers. Once you've set the drum sounds you can close the lid and play without needing to see the controls if you prefer, and there's a stand mounting slot underneath. Alternatively you can trigger the synths from other pads such as Simmons pads, from drum triggers added to acoustic drums, or from the trigger outputs of drum machines like the Roland TR808, or from analog sequencers.

There are rear panel connections for an optional foot switch and a foot pedal (not included), which presumably mute and pitch bend the synth sounds.

This unit was originally part of the "El Monstruo" analog/digital modular synthesizer system playing huge percussive patterns triggered from the various sequencers within the system. Klaus Schulze did something similar with dual analog drum synths during his 1970's concerts, and the true analog sound from these modules can be absolutely window-breaking. Be careful with it, because there is no limit to how low these analog sounds can go...almost subsonic bass booms can be created with ease.

This unit is in very good condition and fully working.

You'll receive the dual drum synth and matching lid/pad unit.

You'll need a 12V DC power supply with a standard fitting (9V is probably OK too, though the label underneath specifies 15V), and quarter inch jack trigger cables are not included (short ones from Maplin would be good to run from the lid/pad unit, longer ones if you want to interface to other instruments).

The lower parts of the hinges and front clasp are not present. You can replace these for a few pennies from any hardware store..."

"It is the best sounding 303 I've ever owned. Hands down, 100%. Colin Fraiser (from the famous Sequentix P3 & Cirklon machines) installed his MIDIBass 303 MKI upgrade into this 303, as well added a bass boost to enhance the sound. Let me tell you... This 303 pumps. The ENV MOD and DECAY have great range, allowing for some amazing combinations that greatly affect the sound of a given pattern. They create some amazing character from short tail decay with extra "umph" from the ENV to longer held notes with variable texture, depending on your ENV setting. Let's not forget the CUTOFF and RES... both excellent all around. You want bass? Slam the RES all the way to left, and adjust the CUTOFF to your liking and asses will shake. It really is the best sounding 303 I've heard personally... I'm going to miss this machine.

The midi upgrade works fine, but I ended up not using it as much as I thought. To sync, just use one of the included MIDI adapters to connect to port... and run with it. Since I have other older Roland machines, most of the time I still used the original DIN SYNC 24 port - which works just fine as well. So, you have a choice to use orignal SYNC or MIDI.... which is nice.

More info on his upgrade can be found on these links:
colinfraser.com/mb303
sequentix.com/sq_mb303.htm

LEDS
The white leds are super cool... and aren't too bright at all. (some blue leds burn my eyes) These are nice to look at. Really makes this 303 unique in appearance. I've had many nice compliments on it. :)

Overall physical condition... A few marks, here and there... But no chips in the body. and no battery leakage inside. Very clean overall.

Comes from a smoke-free, pet-free home."

Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ : Color Contraption by Lucky Button Pusher

Published on Jun 19, 2013 rhythmcorealpha·8 videos

"Introducing Rhythm Core Alpha 2™, and advanced music creation system for the Nintendo DSi™ and Nintendo 3DS™ game systems. In this video, chiptune artist Lucky Button Pusher performs his original song "Color Contraption"!

Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ has all of the creative tools needed to create great sounding music, with an emphasis on live performance. Like the original Rhythm Core Alpha™, is a combination of a music sequencer, a drum machine, and a stylus-based synthesizer for soloing. Not only does it provide traditional pattern based tools equivalent to PC-based MIDI sequencers and software synthesizers, but it also provides a powerful key detection and remapping capability that allows the player to change the key of their music by simply pressing a button. Both programs are easily reconfigurable for ease of live performance.
Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ improves on the features of the original by adding many new features:
• A Mixer screen for adjusting the levels of each track.
• Drum Pad screen for playing drum solos.
• Ten (10) different arrangements for the Solo screen, including one, two, and three row piano layouts, and "finger-playable" modes with wide buttons. A new 8-way grid mode has been added, and both grid modes can be completely customized!
• Many new file options:
o Export your song to SD card as MIDI!
o Save individual Blocks (loops) for use in other songs. We include 91 demo loops and beats and 13 demo songs!
o Import your songs from the original version of Rhythm Core Alpha.
• Many new sound customization options:
o Vibrato with new waveforms, including major and minor chord arpeggios.
o Portamento (a smooth pitch glide between notes).
o Echo, which can be set independently for each track.
o Pitch Envelopes give control of the pitch over time. Useful for special effects and certain sounds.
o Envelope Curves allows for more creative control over pitch and volume envelopes even than most professional synthesizers. o Sounds can now be renamed, and sound parameters can be copied to other tracks.
• The live recording of solos and key/block changes (introduced in the European version of Rhythm Core Alpha™) has been greatly enhanced. Pattern editing has been vastly improved as well!
• Each Block (loop) can be renamed. Never mistake your verse for your chorus again!
• Count-up / count-down timer shows how much time remains in the current Block!
• Stylish VU meter animated display!
• New sound samples have been added, and sound definitions have been updated to take advantage of the new features. Yes, yes, you can do dubstep.

...and many other features and adjustments from of three years of testing, recording songs, and performing in live shows.

Rhythm Core Alpha 2™ is available in the Nintendo DSiWare™ Store for 1000 Nintendo Points, and in the Nintendo 3DS™ eShop for $10 US.

Product is now available in the Americas, and will soon be available in Europe."

Oberheim OB8 with Pyxis Expression System

Published on Jul 11, 2013 New England Analog LLC·17 videos

"This video demonstrates the New England Analog Pyxis Expression System. This adds expressive aftertouch to the keybed as well as a removable pressure sensitive pad that can both control the VCOs, VCF, and VCA in the synth. By pressing down on keys, or by pressing on the pad, players can bend one or both VCOs, swell the volume or open the filter of the synth. The Pyxis also has its own internal triangle/square wave LFO. The LFO is free running, and has the option of being modulated by pressure. The LFO amount can be dialed in to the VCOs, VCF, and VCA, and LFO will only be sent to these if pressure is being applied. The Pyxis LFO runs through 3 voltage controlled attenuators that are controlled by pressure. As the player presses harder on the sensors, more LFO will be sent to the modulation destination. This allows for an amazing array of interesting and organic sounds to be created.
The Pyxis is available as an internal installation or in a separate wood enclosure. It has the option of having aftertouch installed in the keybed of the synth (we must do this at our shop), or the pressure sensor pad. The sensor pad has a magnet underneath it to secure it to metal surfaces. It also sits firmly on any other flat surface. As shown in the video, a synth can have both the pressure pad and keybed aftertouch installed. The installation of the Pyxis varies from synth to synth. Monophonic and Duophonic synthesizers take the least time to install the system in, while polysynths usually take a few hours to do the installation in. The aftertouch installation also varies as well. Small keyboards like the ARP Odyssey, Pro One, Minimoog, Prodigy, Multimoog, etc. will take less time than Jupiters, OBX/OB8, Polysix, Monopoly, etc. We offer custom installations of aftertouch, breath control, and pressure controllers for all analog systems. For more information, please check us out at www.NewEnglandAnalog.com. Thanks for watching!

PS- A note for the haters; This is not intended to be my musical magnum opus. This is just me demonstrating how the Pyxis controller works. If you'd like to see me actually trying to play well, check out my band! http://vimeo.com/35516441"

Benjolin vs Kilpatrick K4815 sequencer

Published on Jul 11, 2013 DJjondent·205 videos

"First test drive of the Eurorack version of the Benjolin (Epoch Modular).
The Benjolin is a chaotic "noise box" .... designed by Rob Hordijk.
Its the smaller relative of the legendary Blippoo Box.

Wild and unpredictable.
Consisting of 2 VCOs that drive a "rungler circuit" that feeds back into the oscillators.

The Kilpatrick K4815 did for a short while bring the Benjolin under "control".
In this example, the CV from the k4815 modulates the two VCOs.

Thanks to Ross for recommending this to me."
