Audulus + Gristleizer + Minimoog VCF + AD4096 + Ampex ATR-102

Published on Apr 18, 2016 Bimini Road

Get Audulus for: iOS | Mac | Windows/Linux

"In this video, I set up a simple 2 oscillator output from Audulus (no filters, no effects) - the majority of what you see on the iPad is the sequencer, clock, and the LFOs that are modulating various parameters.

The oscillators from Audulus are sent into the Endangered Audio Research Gristleizer, and then on into the Minimoog VCF through the external input (the oscillators and noise generators are turned off).

The output of the Minimoog is sent into the Endangered Audio Research AD4096 analog delay pedal.

Finally, the delay is routed into the Apollo 8 where, after passing through a Neve 1073 preamp and a Studer A800 tape machine, it is processed with the Slate VCC Neve Console, the Manley Vari-Mu Compressor and Massive Passive Mastering EQ, and finally the Ampex ATR-102 running at 3.75IPS and with a smattering of wow and flutter, and a bunch of stereo delay."

Improvising with Pocket Operators and Patchblocks

Published on Mar 20, 2016 pselodux

"Apologies for the length, I got a bit carried away. This is a little improvisation I put together with my newly acquired PO-20 and Patchblock.

Gear used:
Teenage Engineering PO-12 Rhythm
Teenage Engineering PO-20 Arcade
Patchblock running Jayrope's Shattuh spring emulation patch available here:

This is largely unedited, except for a little cut around 11 minutes in where I accidentally paused the PO-20, oops!"

NEW Ginko Synthese GRAINS

Published on Mar 14, 2016 paul tas

"thanks to ginko Grains V1 PCB v1 (basic code for PCB v1)"

via error instruments

"the cheapest ways to get a voltage controlled oscillator in your modular and sounds completely different than all other oscillators! It can do minimalistic clicks and plops, screaming leads, fat basslines, weird noises or chiptunes.

This is a DIY kit
The kit includes:
PCB
frontpanel
all electronic parts
Knobs and jacksockets
Arduino
powercable

How it works
The sound is a PWM output routed via an (optional) low-pass filter and a 100uF capacitor – so no external DAC is required. The low-pass filter on the PCB can be bypassed if you want. Bypassing the filter provides more clarity and a slightly louder output but more artifacts in the sound.

Not bored yet?
Here comes more information about the synthesis technique on the basic code and you will understand why I called this module “Grains”.
The “Grains” code provided on your module is based on FOF synthesis or formant synthesis. FOF synthesis is closely related to synchronous granular synthesis. It uses two simple triangle-shaped grains. The grains are separated by the same amount of time. With granular synthesis, the spacing within the grains radically change the texture that is created. The FOF grains have very little parameters: pitch and decay. In the basic “Grains” code the 2 decay values are fixed to most musical sounding and can not be altered via potentiometers. So only the pitch of the two grains can be altered via pots (or the cv inputs) and the overall grains repetition which provides the pitch of the output.

The code is highly customizable and I will upload user codes for the Grains as soon as I get them. (Please do share your own customized code with me via email: info@ginkosynthese.com)

PCB version 2 is shipped from 25-06-2015. There has been a change in the way cv input 3 is processed. All earlier codes can be changed to work with V2 and backwards, look for the analogRead (0) in the code and add an extra input for analogRead (3). You can play around with the way they influence each other.
For people who want to dive deeper in coding and want to write a lookup table for 1V/oct tracking, here is how: code doc."

" Up for sale is classic Roland SVC-350 vintage analog vocoder synthesizer, a similar rackmount version of the Roland VP-330 with a modernized look and graphic EQ section.

The Roland SVC-350 Vocoder is a vintage 11-band vocoder made by Roland in 1979. Each band can be mixed via sliders on the front panel. A carrier frequency (e.g. a synthesizer) is fed in to control the pitch of your audio input (e.g. a microphone that you sing through). Immediately you can begin creating lush vowel inflected pads sounds or buzzy robotic fuzz. The possibilities are endless and experimentation is highly encouraged!"

"For sale is my Moog Memorymoog vintage analog synthesizer. This is not the plus version, no midi but really you don't need the midi because this is meant to be played by hands! Also I have heard these non plus models are a little more reliable due to less circuitry than the midi, there's only so much you can cram into one space and the memorymoog was the height of moog's technology. I recall with the midi version, whenever you press a key the entire board's lights flicker, which doesn't happen on this model. This one has been very reliable and never given any problems. Cosmetically it does have minor imperfections as expected for its age, but the synth is 100% fully functional and sounds amazing. All 6 voices tune perfectly each time it powers up. Just had all the key contacts cleaned so the keyboard triggers perfectly. Considered one of the greatest sounding polysynths of all time, huge sound and flexibility. It's almost like having 6 minimoogs in one unit."

Homemade Synthesizer song #4

Published on Apr 18, 2016 organfairy

"This time I use the tuning fork controlled synthesizer to make a sort of arpeggio. Another thing to notice is the keyboard with aftertouch. It is actually made really simple: The entire keyframe is on hinges and held up with two springs so that it can be pressed downwards a couple of millimeters. The edge of the frame then dips into an optocoupler fork and thereby generates a variable voltage that can control other modules."

"Mighty" by POB feat Moog Sub Phatty, Mother-32, and Korg MS-10, SQ1

Published on Apr 18, 2016 Patrick OBrien

"Throwing some analog synthesizers together to come up with this lush song, dedicated to my dear friend who is nearing the end with her battle with cancer. Her name is Melissa Whipp but she is mostly known by her friends and family as 'Mighty Mouse.'

-------------------------------

The 2 Moog Mother-32's talk to each other to set the mood, followed by tones from the MS-10 sequenced and CV'ed by the Korg SQ1. After bringing in the thick driving Sub Phatty bass, the choirs from Kontact are mixed in via AxiomPro69's MIDI controller, giving the song a rise, with angelic choirs taking over the journey that was left behind.

Synths and gear used:
Korg MS-10
Korg SQ-1
Moog Sub Phatty
Moog Mother-32
AxiomPro 69
Native Instruments Kontakt (for the choir sounds)

-------------------------------

I recorded video with an iPhone 6+ then optimized the audio and video using iMovie.

No computers were used in the performance of this piece. All synths recorded live in a single take."
