Crumar Spirit 1983 Analog Synthesizer designed by Bob Moog SN 00085

"#085 of 200 units ever made!! This is a special piece of analog synth history. One of the rarest most exotic monophonic synths ever made.

The Crumar Spirit was originally designed by Bob Moog (himself), Jim Scott & Tom Rhea and released back in 1983. It is a full featured analog semi-modular monophonic synthesizer with 2 VCO's so it's got a pretty fat tone that is considerably more flexible than the Minimoog. It has a basic 37-note keyboard. The two oscillators feature basic sawtooth, triangle and square waves and can be synced together.

The filter section is very nice featuring low-, high- and band-pass filters and switchable 12dB or 24dB slopes. Other features of the filter include an independent envelope with inverted and normal ADSR, key tracking and single or multiple triggering of the filter. Some other features of the Spirit include a built-in ring-modulator, an Arpeggiator with 3 different patterns and that can be linked to the LFO, and there's an external audio input for running external sounds through its filters, LFOs or Ring Mod.

For the hands-on approach, the Spirit is sure to please. There are 24 knobs, 10 switches and 15 sliders to start. There are 3 performance wheels for controlling the Pitch, Mod-X and Shaper-Y modulation effects (see LFO specs below). Using those with the Arpeggiator can get pretty wild. The Arpeggiator features 3 modes: Ripple (Up/Down), Arpeggio (Up several octaves) and Leap (Goes up 1 and then 4 octaves). There are also Auto and preset Glide modes for getting some elasticity or bending effects. Since all the LFOs, envelopes and filters are quite flexible you are sure to get some weird noises, fat basses, synths, etc. with the Spirit."

Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy - on the Obi

Published on Jul 5, 2018 Kris Lennox

"So, last night I was messing around in imitation of the celeste. I thought to myself, 'why not just do a celeste piece?'. Of course, the most famous celeste piece is Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy, from Tchaikovsky's 'Nutcracker' Suite. What you are hearing is actually a 'challenge' recording I set myself, with the challenge being:

Sight-read through the work twice then play it from memory.

For those interested, the score is here - http://hz.imslp.info/files/imglnks/us...

This recording is my first attempt at playing from memory after two sight-reads. Of course, if actually giving a serious performance to an audience, I'd play the work a few times more/work on timing etc. And hold the 2-bar rests for their full value :)) I didn't bother in this take as it sounds quite empty at those points when played as a solo work.

"Quite a rare synth and very weird sounding. Sounds like a Moog crossed with an Arp and very fat with it's 3 oscillators.

It took a while to be manufactured (much longer than stated by the manufacturer himself) but it is a special instrument in absolutely MINT condition. This is serial no 10. Comes with original manual.

Was recently serviced by Synth Professor so will include the service invoice which cost me £200

• 3 transistor-based oscillators, offering saw, square and triangle waveforms
• Pulse width control for osc.1 (manual & LFO)
• Osc. 2 & 3 interval tuning
• 24dB lowpass and high pass filter
• Modulation (LFO) routed to all osc, pulse width, filter and all osc. & filter together
• LFO has fully mixable tri, saw, square, random & 'pattern' waveforms
• Osc.3 'low' mode, can operate as a separate LFO for filter mod.
• Unique 'pattern' mode LFO waveform can create riffs & arpeggios"

Several different configurations makes the two oscillators sing in parallell, ring or FM-modulation."

Motas-6 synth plays OMD Joan of Arc (demo 07)

Published on Jul 6, 2018 MotasSynth

"Motas-6 synth demo 07 - playing extract from OMD's 'Maid of Orleans' (Joan of Arc) with some external reverb applied.

Several independent LFO modulations have been used on the master pitch, individual oscillator pitch, PWM (oscillators 1 and 3) and filter frequencies to try to re-create the wow-and-flutter sound of the legendary Mellotron used on the original.

The haunting tune is programmed into the Motas-6 internal pattern sequencer which plays in an endless loop whilst the Motas-6 parameters are adjusted.
The Motas-6 paraphonic capabilities are used with oscillator 1 tracking the highest note played, oscillator 2 the middle and oscillator 3 the lowest.
As the tune plays the 3 filter settings and mix levels (including the internal feedback control to the mixer) are adjusted, as well as phase modulation on oscillators 2 and 3. The mixer gain is adjusted - listen for the rich distortion caused from over-driving the filters (starting at 3:13) with the mixer gain set to 'boost'. Also look out for the spectrum analyser display at the end that tracks the notes showing the harmonics."

Joranalogue - Filter 8 *FIRST PATCH* (audio rate vocal tones and more)

Published on Jul 6, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Here's my first patch video with the new Joranalogue Filter 8 / F8 which is a 8 output multimode filter that's also an 8-phase oscillator. We've get exponential and linear FM, great tone, 1, 2, 3, 4 pole low pass outputs and other filter modes. There's 1v/oct tracking, audio rate modulation giving us vocal and formant like tones and I'm using Select 2 to switch the audio input into the filter and also switching outputs. Mixing in other outputs through other processing also gives a nice ping pong rhythms pattern that works well when panned for a stereo image."
