Synthrotek Analog VCO - All textures, No talk

Published on Aug 9, 2018 File Transfer Protocol

"Except for the obvious acoustic sounding drums, all sounds in this video are produced by the new Synthrotek Analog VCO. It may have been patched through, around or over top of any combination of the following other modules from Synthrotek: FOLD, ROBOTO, VCA, QUADRANGLE, ADSR, STEREO OUT, DLY, VERB, and at one point it was mutated in an FM fashion by a Mother like module from a company that rhymes with rogue. For more info go here: http://store.synthrotek.com/VCO_c_173...

Brand NEW YAMAHA CX5M FM Synthesizer MSX Computer, Keyboard And New Cartriges

"This is a true music collectors piece. I acquired it from an estate sale and to my surprise is was a brand new, never used CX5M FM Synth computer form 1984.

No only is this a very rare piece, but finding one new? Even Yamaha contacted me about it.

Not only is the core unit brand new, it also comes with two brand new cartridges which are very rare as well.

This is essentially an MSX computer with a synth added inside. Before you ask, yes you can play old MSX game cartridges on it.

It has stereo audio outs, midi in/out and comes with the proprietary keyboard that only works with this. I'm unsure whether the keyboard is new but it looks unused.

The two carts it comes with are a midi multitrack that allows recording multiple tracks and the other cart is very sought after as it's the DX7 voice editing cart that allows you to directly edit your dx7 voices and save them.

This isn't something you'll likely see again brand new from 1984.

I opened carefully only to test it as it's really old. It works perfectly like new. The monitor in the last picture IS NOT INCLUDED and is only to show it's working.

The cable inside is still sealed so I bought a special 5din to rca cable to test with my tv/monitor which I'm throwing in.

I'm also throwing in an upgrade chip that upgrades the firmware which you can install if you choose.

If you're a synth/computer/music collector or enthusiast, don't let this pass you by."

"Comes with original box, manual(s), patch cables, USB cable, power supply and - BONUS - the NS1nanobridge (pictured) which makes this Italian import fully compatible with Eurorack systems. A compact, powerful, fun and surprisingly robust-sounding instrument."We at soundmachines thought about a simple and cheap platform that will transport the main characteristic of a modular analog synthesizer in a small and friendly format, to be well recognised by musicians, makers and tinkerers worldwide. A small, but loyal to its roots, instruments of sound creation. With a digital platform added as a bonus. The soundmachines NS1nanosynth is born.Let’s talk now about dimensions. Because size does matter. Absolutely. We created something that you can extract from your bag, or a big pocket, and start patching, manipulating and definitely and positively playing. On the train? On a plane back home? At your sister’s wedding? Maybe, after all, also on a stage. The entire platform, that is a complete, albeit simple, analog modular synthesizer, is the same height and a little wider than ONE standard 5U synthesizer module. One single module. But on board the soundmachines nanomodular you have a saw core thermally stabilized v/oct VCO, a 12db lowpass and bandpass VCF, two LFOs, one loopable ADSR envelope, a standard VCA, two twistable attenuators, two pot controllers and a plethora (more than a dozen!) of “micro” modules like mixers, multiples, sample and hold, sum/sub blocks, inverters, logic or, and, nand, analog dividers, clock dividers, fixed voltage generators and several ‘sensor blocks’.""

New Patchable Behringer Octave CAT in the Works

This one was spotted and sent in via Soviet Space Child.

You might recall, the CAT was on Behringer's list of synths to re-create.

Part 1: Quadraphonic Master Class with Suzanne Ciani

Published on Aug 9, 2018 loopop

"Suzanne Ciani is an electronic music pioneer, composer, sound designer responsible for iconic sounds in commercials and video games, AND not only a pioneer but someone who is still leading the pack today with amazing modular performances.

But what you won't get to really know about Suzanne's performance until you attend one of her concerts is that all her shows are strictly quadraphonic, and the experience is amazing.

That experience can be recreated in the studio, so I set out to create series of videos about creating quadraphonic music and performance.

Here's Part 1 of that series - a master class with Suzanne Ciani. Suzanne's gear of choice for quadraphonic is a Buchla system, which is rare and expensive. In Part 2 I'll show how you can get similar results with any DAW, a few things that are unique to Ableton Live, and, if you're into Eurorack, a few ways to perform quadraphonically with standard and specialized modules."

EML ElectroComp 101 Synth, Vintage Synthesizer SN 1027

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

This one was listed back in 2014.

"Excellent condition, one of the best older vintage monos ever. A true monster. Serial # 1027.

4 oscillators, 3 with continuously variable wave shapes, and variable bandwidth filter to die for, and imo the BEST ring mod ever, controlled by the 4th osc - beautiful, harmonicly rich, metalic distored tones.

Capable of very unique raw and large sounds and very flexible to get wild harsh or suble electric sounds with the modular side of things. Very sad to see this go but I am committed to the few things I have and use more frequently.

Tuned up before I bought it three years ago by a tech in SF who has lots of experience with EMLs, no issues since buying. These are considerably more stable in the long run than say, an arp 2600, due to the high spec (military grade I believe) components used.

Only things of note are slightly yellowed keys (dont know from what, these don't clean, maybe can be replaced) and a few small dings in the original case - been this way before I got it. Handle and all latches intact, working."

808 DAY DELUGE! 100% TR808 Sounds make a song. IDM / HOUSE z9

Published on Aug 9, 2018 VJ FRANZ K

"The song is 'Jingle Jangle', from my 2001 album, on 8/08 2018, I remade it using the Deluge. This song uses the 808 Cowbell sound with different pitches as the synth notes! Other various sounds ( Such as Linn Drum ) were in the original, but for this day, I remade it ONLY with 808 samples - even the "desert wind" sound was the cymbal noise being filtered!
If you're good enough with a sampler, any small collection of samples should be enough to make something interesting!
Challenge Yourself!"

16-STEP CV SEQUENCER by RUCCI

Published on Aug 8, 2018 Michael Rucci

via RUCCI Handmade Electronics

"This is a 16-step sequencer that outputs control voltage from 0 to 5 volts. This is used to manipulate other equipment that utilizes incoming CV.

In addition to being able to select the number of steps (2 to 16) there are other modes and patterns…

16 Steps forward followed by 16 in reverse
8 blocks of 2 steps repeated 16 times
4 blocks of 4 steps repeated 4 times
2 blocks of 8 steps repeated 8 times
Dual overlapping 8-Step Sequences
Holding 3 beats on steps 1, 5, 9 and 13
2 steps forward, 1 step back
Random Mode
Modes are selectable via a mode control knob. You have control over the speed and 16 sliders to set the voltage of each step. There is a switch to start/stop the sequence and a button to manual step through when stopped.

All jacks are 1/8″ (3.5mm). The CV output is separated from the sync jacks. It has a sync input and two sync outputs, one that outputs a 5V clock pulse for each step and one that outputs a pulse only at step one. This allows multiple units to sync up either step for step or overlapping. Sync in is closest to the DC input, in the middle is the sync out, and closest to the CV output jack is the sync out with one pulse at step one.

It is housed in an extremely tough, raw aluminum case. It is powered by an included 9V battery or any 9V center-negative DC adapter.

Shipping to the US is a flat $10, everywhere else is $22 for the first item and $8 for each additional item.

Ships next day."
