ENSONIQ MIRAGE AS A FLAVOR

Published on Jun 1, 2019 100 Things I Do

"Some new exploration with the Ensoniq Mirage!

I thought I would share this week what happens if you take a sound into the Mirage at the lowest (longest) sample rate.

I am using the Eventide Black Hole reverb to give more of an idea how I would use it in a mix or stand alone. The most interesting sample is where I have the compressor running a little too strong and bring up the noise of a spinning hard drive by accident into the tail of the sound."

"Vintage Gibson Maestro G2 "Rhythm 'N Sound" Synthesizer from the 1960's. Some of the pots are a bit scratchy but, the unit is in GREAT shape as the pictures will show - complete with case, foot pedal and original instructions overlay!

Cool vintage effect unit that lets you add one or more voicings to create some really interesting textures and sounds. They're kinda cheesy but classic! Bongo, Brush, Tambourine, & Clave percussion sounds.
String bass lower octave doubler sounds killer!

Has an awesome nasty fuzz tone that really makes this unit Da BOMB!!

Add unique sound overlays - Color Tones (preset EQ settings), Wow Wow (Wah) and Echo Repeat (tremolo) with speed control.

Overall it's a VERY clean effect unit that has a killer vintage tone and would be excellent for a few studio tricks."

SSL Trio Demo - OLD LEATHER

Published on Jun 1, 2019 davidryle

"A demo of the trio of modules from Synthetic Sound Labs.

They are the V-Gates digital/analog sequence gate control, the Octal VCA module and the envelope Expander module.

This is a very simple example of using the V-Gates in digital mode and random function to send gate signals to the envelope expander which is controlling the choice of notes from a four part chord set (root, third, fifth and seventh).

The second channel of the V-Gates is sending a trigger to mix with the downbeat trigger for the kick drum.

The 5th and 6th channels of the octal vca and expander are controlled externally from some clock timings for the bass and root doubled to an echo.

These modules are available from Synthetic Sound Labs in 5U format at...
www.steamsynth.com

This is a opening demonstration of the trio of modules. There is a lot more going on in the patch which I will not take the time to describe. The audio is a real-time recording of the patch direct to Cubase in one take. These modules have much more elegant potential for musical control than I could impart here. I plan to use them extensively in the future.

Thanks for listening."

Alesis A6 Andromeda w/ Original Box

via this auction

"Alesis A6 Andromeda Keyboard Synthesizer. Shipped with UPS Ground. This is a brand new, still in box, unused synthesizer. I bought it to use in a band that never happened. It has been plugged in twice. When I fist bought it I plugged it in pushed a few buttons to see what they do, then boxed it up and put in the closet for 14 years. I plugged it in for the second time this morning and it works like its supposed to still.

The Andromeda A6 is a true real analog synthesizer using two analog oscillators per voice, sub-oscillators, hard and soft sync and more! It features 16-voice polyphony. With the Andromeda, you'll find a huge range of tonal possibilities: searing leads, warm pads, fat bass lines, extreme sound effects and more. And of course there are plenty of knobs (72) and buttons (144), even an assignable ribbon controller for addictive hands-on real-time control! The large high-resolution LCD display is excellent and shows you actual rather than relative values of parameters. Andromeda will integrate seamlessly into any studio with its total MIDI control and sync, individual voice outputs, stereo outputs and several audio inputs.

Andromeda is completely analog - no emulation! [note the oscillator tuning, envelopes, LFOs, and Sample & Hold are actually digital as well as the added effects] It features two analog filters per voice that sound great! They are a multimode 2-pole and a 4-pole lowpass. External audio can be routed through these filters too (three 1/4" jacks)! As for modulation, Andromeda has three LFOs, each with six waveforms and they can be synced to MIDI clock. And there are three 7-stage envelopes with very creative and flexible functions. Also on-board is an extensive mod matrix for enormous freedom in configuring Andromeda's sounds!"

"This time I programmed in the Percussa SSP a sequencer patch with drums and a bass line.
In the Percussa i used 7 sequencer modules, 5 samplers with drum samples, 1 sampler with a bass sample, 1 Stereo Delay module and some LFOs. Externally i used a XAOC Filter for the bass sound.
Sequencer-clock is a Doepfer LFO.

Roland JV-1080 "Planet JV" Soundset 128 Presets

Published on Jun 1, 2019 chronosproject

"The legendary Roland JV-1080 synthesizer is back with its 25 years anniversary!

Buy Soundset: https://sellfy.com/p/MjS3/

Back to 1994 JV was one of the most powerful digital modules with its flexible engine &
beautiful sound combined with great set of effects & drums.

Why its so cool?

Cause besides pianos, bells, cowbells & cheesy accordions, GM applause and Bang! presets - its capable to create great analog sounds, deepest ambient textures, great moving sequences.

Its like a hardware “Omnisphere” synth with huge effort.

AJH Synth Eurorack Ambient Ditty - revisiting an early recording

Published on Jun 1, 2019 DreamsOfWires

"Re-recording something I originally uploaded featuring a Moog Minitaur with Sunvox on an iPad. It's a very simple piece, but here I've used entirely analog sounds from the AJH eurorack system. The background melody is kind of a pseudo two-part polyphonic voice using two separate VCO's, envelopes, and the Gemini filter in Dual mode. The other part is a third VCO through the Ring SM, providing up to two suboctaves, and then into the Ladder Filter. An external LFO is modulating the pulse width of this VCO. The Keystep's Mod output is patched to the Ladder Filter's frequency. Gear list at the bottom.

I wanted it to sound a little less gnarly than the original, with less resonance, hopefully capturing a little more of the MiniMod's warmth and character. Here's a link to the original: [originally posted here]

Alternatively you can support me on Patreon for as little as $99 a month to help keep me afloat financially so that I can continue this channel: https://www.patreon.com/dreamsofwires

Otherwise, please subscribe for more of the same, and showing my uploads to others would be a great help. Thanks for your support.

Gear used: AJH Synth VCO (x3), dual contour, DH-ADSR, gain switch, VCA (x2), Ring SM, Gemini and Ladder filters. FC Waverunner LFO, Korg SQ-1 (pattern - parallel mode) and Arturia Keystep (melody), recorded into AUM on an iPad via iConnectAUDIO4+ interface, with EOS2 reverb and Dubstation 2 delay. The Eurorack case was made by me and inspired by the Moog Model 15. Filmed on a Lumix GH-4 and iPhone SE, edited in Final Cut X on an elderly Crashbook Pro."

VINTAGE (2000) WALDORF SYNTH CATALOG

"This is a rare twelve page (including covers) year 2000 vintage Waldorf Electronics "Enthusiasts Synthesizing Machines" catalog I picked up at the Anaheim NAMM show during the time I was designing synths for another company. I was so impressed with the graphic design that I have kept it in excellent condition since then.

The colors are quite solid and the arc diecut on the the right is quite striking (and I am not ashamed to say I used that style cut in a car audio catalog a couple of years later).

The style and font choices were quite progressive and advanced for the time. The catalog was designed by Alex Hartmann DesignBox which also did the industrial design for the synths... EBay is blocking my link to an interview with him about it, but Alex is interviewed here about his work for Waldorf at synthtopia (dot) com... just google "DesignBox" "Waldorf" and "Alex Hartmann" and you will find it)

For both synth historians, industrial designers and graphic designers this is a part of history you will probably never find for sale again.

In the images in this listing, I am showing only the first few pages in the catalog but the remaining pages are similarly intense and beautiful and also in great condition."

ROLAND SH-5 - Analog synth demo | Bandpass filter tweaking

Published on Jun 1, 2019 synth4ever

"Roland SH-5 analog synthesizer demo showcasing S&H, envelope retriggering and bandpass filter tweaking.

The Roland SH-5 is an iconic and rare vintage monophonic synthesizer that was manufactured from 1976-1981. It features 2 VCOs (32' to 2' with triangle, saw, square and pulse waveforms), 2 LFOs (LFO1 = saw, reverse saw; LFO2 = triangle, sine, square) and 1 S&H with sample time & delay time.

The Roland SH 5 has 2 VCF filters: 1 multimode LP/BP/HP and 1 Bandpass, both with cutoff and resonance. 2 Envelopes (1 AR and 1ADSR) can be routed to filter, osc and amp, and there is env sensitivity and keyboard tracking on the filter. On the back of the SH-5 are various inputs/outputs for CV and other control.

Additional features include portamento, pitch bend, ring modulation, soft & hard sync, white & pink noise, external audio input, VCA panning, VCA-triggering via S&H, LFO2 or external trigger. A comprehensive Mixer section allows for routing of 5 audio signals through VCF, VCF+BPF, BPF, or direct to VCA.

The Roland SH-5 is a classic vintage synthesizer that can output massive bass, piercing resonance, create amazing textures/noise/FX, and of course leads and other standard tones. The additional bandpass filter is also a key feature that sets the Roland SH-5 apart from many other synths in terms of tone."
