Stylophone GEN X-1, Classic & Beatbox 2019 Black & Chrome

via this auction

"These units are almost new and were only used as demos at NAMM 2019!

The GEN X-1 is a full-fledged synth with LFO, Filter, Delay unit and Envelope. This is a fat, fat beast!

The Classic is... the Classic! The one you’ve heard on Bowie’s Space Oddity. Nuff said!

The Beatbox features samples, beats, sounds and you can record and loop your own beat to play against to.

Besides being portable, they’re cool and offer that vintage vibe you want.

Does not come in their boxes, which were tossed after the event, but will be carefully packed."

Aquifex - Dark Live Jam 071619 - Hartmann Neuron & Soma Labs Lyra-8

"Fun little dark jam made on a business trip last year with the Hartmann Neuron VST (Mac host) from Germany and the amazing Soma Labs Lyra-8 made by Vlad Kreimer in Moscow.

Assembled/performed in Loopy HD on the iPad Pro, recently performed directly to a stereo recorder. Since the VST was in a standalone host app it's still DAWless, technically. :-)"

Moog 16 Channel Analog Vocoder (With More Than Just Vocals)

Published on Mar 6, 2020 Perfect Circuit

"Moog has resumed production of their classic 16-Channel Vocoder—an effect heard on countless records from Giorgio Moroder to Wendy Carlos and Moog Cookbook. While vocoders are often considered synonymous with robotic vocals, there's much more to this incredible processor than just that.

Vocoders can be used to combine the spectral content of any two sounds, analyzing the frequency content of one sound and impressing it upon another—in this case, by employing sixteen channels of Moog filters and envelope followers. In this video, we used the Vocoder to impress the spectral profile of a Moog DFAM on a Moog Mother-32, to create spectrally gated vocals using the Division Department 01/IV, and to do some classic synth vocals with the Elektron Digitone.

A world-class way to do complex filtering, dynamic gating effects, synth voice, or even general-purpose envelope following, the Moog 16-Channel Vocoder is no doubt one of the best-sounding vocoders ever made.

16-Channel Vocoder available here:"

Moog Memorymoog Plus SN 1239

via this auction

"The pinnacle of analogue excess, the Memorymoog was released in the early 1980s to compete in the burgeoning polysynth market. This synth is massive, with three oscillators per voice, times six voices, often characterised as having six Minimoogs under the hood of one synth. This description is not entirely accurate, as this synth is built around CEM3340 oscillators, as opposed to discrete Moog components, but the classic Moog low pass is present giving it that sound we all know. This is a Plus version of the Memorymoog, adding an internal two track sequencer, auto tuning and MIDI functionality.

This synthesizer is in excellent condition, especially for its age. It has been repaired and reviewed by our in house technician and is working perfectly. The filter sections were recapped, power supply was adjusted and calibrated, the PCBs and interior were cleaned thoroughly, and the battery was inspected and is working fine. The original binder manual is included along with two sustain pedals, an expression pedal, cables, and a Chromaface MIDI box."

Practical Synthesis for Electronic Music Volume 2; 108 pp.

With introductions by Robin Donald Graham, Synthesizer Project Manager, Roland Corporation, Osaka, Japan.

All four volumes profusely illustrated with figures, patch diagrams and frequency charts (some folding), 4to in card covers housed in printed stiff board slip case. The copyright is 1979, but it appears this second edition (printing?) was issued in 1983.

A fine set.

Roland Corporation (ローランド株式会社 Rōrando Kabushiki Kaisha) is a Japanese manufacturer of electronic musical instruments, electronic equipment and software. It was founded by Ikutaro Kakehashi in Osaka on April 18, 1972. While rival companies Moog and ARP targeted professional musicians and academics, Kakehashi, who had no musical training, wanted to appeal to amateurs and hobbyists, and focused on miniaturization, affordability, and simplicity.

In 1973, Roland introduced the first compact synthesizer produced in Japan and the first synthesizer produced by Roland, the SH-1000, as well as their first non-preset synthesizer, the SH-3.

Stapled case has light wear to edges."

"Another in our occasional Friday Fun Synth Jams series - designed to encourage a bit of creative improvisation for the weekend.

This time we fire up the long ignored Novation MiniNova - which we reviewed back in 2012, which was an early DSP based synth with 18 voices featuring the same synth engine as the UltraNova.

We add the Modal Electronics Skulpt to that - this one doesn't have the recently announced firmware update."

Roland D-50 | The King of all VA synths?

Published on Mar 5, 2020 Espen Kraft

"Yeah, yeah... I know... it's not really technically a VA synth. Calm down, take a Zanax and let me explain.
For all PRACTICAL purposes the D-50 is the ultimate digital synth to emulate analog sounds. It does so in a totally unique way and the sound it produces cannot be replicated by any other synths, including its own clones like the Boutique D-05, Roland Cloud, V-synth D-50 card add-on or the VST version. Only the original D-50/550 can sound like this.

The "fake" filters, the DAC and the way it crunches through the numbers (LA) to get down to brass tacks is so crisp and aliased that it sits on top of the food chain imo."
