When Mathematics & Physics Influence Eurorack Modular // New Systems Instruments at Knobcon 2023
video upload by DivKid
"It was great to see New Systems Instruments at Knobcon 2023 and learn about some of their modules. They caught my eye around their release and their "a bit like Serge but from a mathematical" approach certainly fascinates me. We look at Inertia, a function generator that has inertia, an resonance like overshoot of voltage travelling as well as the oscillators."

Albers - Stepped tones.
video upload by DecadeBridge
"Using audio rate oscillators patched into Albers' pitch inputs and then using the LFOs to create stepped tones. In the first part I use all four of Albers' oscillators as stepped tone generators and then have a little jam with the patch. In the second part I use a VCO to create two stepped tone generators with oscillators A and B and then use the other two as sustained notes. This is followed by another small jam with the patch.
00:00 - Patching Pam's pro workout (outputs 5 - 8) to Albers' pitch inputs.
02:58 - Adding more elements to the patch whilst having a jam. Delay has been added in Ableton.
07:38 - Using the square and saw wave outputs from the Moritz Klein VCO patched to Albers' oscillators A and B whilst using C and D to add static notes. Stepped tones and drones.
09:11 - Adding more elements to the patch whilst having a jam. Delay has been added in Ableton."
ALAN R. PEARLMAN FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES GIVING TUESDAY INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN KICKOFF
Press release follows.
The Foundation Announces the First Publicly-Accessible ARP 2500 in the USA
STONE RIDGE, NY, November 28, 2023: Thanks to a generous donation by former ARP employee Bruce McLendon, the Alan R. Pearlman Foundation is welcoming a 2508 Wing Cabinet into its collection of legendary ARP synthesizers.
This 2508 cabinet was assembled as a complete self-contained 2500 synthesizer featuring original oscillator, filter, sequencer, envelope and mix-sequencer modules, all linked by the flexible 2500 patch matrix system. It also contains a new oscillator module designed and built for the Foundation by Phil Cirocco of CMS (Discrete Music Systems).
The ARP Foundation is launching an IndieGogo campaign to raise funds to complete the restoration of what will become the only publicly-accessible ARP 2500 synthesizer in the USA, and to bolster its ARPs For All Program in preparation for the 2500’s arrival.

About the Alan R. Pearlman Foundation:
The ARP Archives & The Alan R. Pearlman Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Its mission is to celebrate the legacy of inventor, musician, entrepreneur and engineer Alan R. Pearlman, by making his innovative inventions publicly accessible, and by inspiring future generations to imagine and create. Alan R. Pearlman was a pioneer in the electronic music world, and the founder of ARP Synthesizers, a leading synthesizer manufacturer in the 1970s. The Foundation is dedicated to preserving his legacy, and is committed to creating opportunities for emerging artists, sound designers and electronic music entrepreneurs.
Among their missions is enabling artists and designers to use rare, vintage ARP synthesizers, as well as recording and production equipment - which they’ve successfully accomplished with the ARPs For All Program in cooperation with their partners at The Record Co. in Boston, MA
---
Side note for synth history's sake: The New England Synthesizer Museum supposedly had the first ARP 2500 on display, but it was non functional when I visited, and the museum no longer around. The owner/curator David Hillel Wilson passed away back in 2010.

SYNTHESISER CLUB - A short musical demonstration of a synthesiser classic or three
COMMERCIAL BREAK - Some shameless Memetune shilling
PATCHING TODAY - A deep-dive into vintage modular systems and how to set up a patch on them, starting from scratch
VIDEO LAB - A look at old video equipment and how to create experimental visuals
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
In THIS episode:
LITTLE BLACK BOXES - The Casio VZ10M Phase Distortion synth from 1988
SWITCHED ON CYBERSYNTHS - Euclidean Rhythms. We get the abacus out and do some maths in this episode, trying to work out Euclid’s infamous algorithm
SYNTHESISER CLUB - Today, its Club Yamaha!

Shiawasena Novation Peak Digitone Digitakt

"In the last year I have approached oriental philosophy and I am therefore composing a series of songs that recall the classic harmonies of the East.
In this piece I use peak novation, digitone and digitakt"
Korg Electribe AmkII and Akai MPC Live 2 fun, sequencers and production machines in harmony
video upload by Expanding Sound
"I look at this Electribe I have often and think to myself I should just sell it. It is a redundancy in todays world of synthesizers. Yet every time I decide to break it out for a little bit of fun, I always wind up loving it again. Sure it isn't the deepest unit, but the two analog modeled synths sound great and the control features they put on the front end lead to a lot of fun. The Korg drifts a lot, basically anytime I've set its clock to external it winds up drifting at some point. Luckily the MPC has the midi output sequences. You set one synth per midi channel, write a sequence on the MPC and you've just breathed new life into your old Electribe. I had a lot of fun fooling with these two together, I hope you enjoy it!"

"Here is a great sounding EMS AKS with many very musical additions : nothing beats the REAL thing !! :)
All modifications were originally installed by Piano Center - Paris in the 70s.
It came back from a thorough service by Belgium EMS specialist tech in 2022. All aging parts replaced by new ones, sync mod has been shielded and full calibration applied.
List of modifications is as follows:
OSCILLATORS:
- osc1 switch: top position: sync osc2, centre position: no sync (original), bottom position: sync osc3
- osc2 switch: top position: sync osc1, centre position: no sync (original), bottom position: sync osc3
- osc3 top switch : top position: sync osc1, centre position: no sync (original), bottom position: sync osc2
- osc3 bottom switch: right position: hi frequency (a shape drift is normal when enabled), left position: lo frequency (original)
ENVELOPE SHAPER:
- ATTACK pot switch: left position: short attack time (original), right position: long attack time
- switch between ON and DECAY pots :
left position: time depends on the KS gate signal length (original)
centre position: KS gate mute
right position: time depends on the ON pot setting only, the KS gate is converted into a short trigger
MATRIX:
- matrix switch:
left position: output channel 1 signal on row 1 (original)
right position: KS sequencer CV transposed by the KS keyboard CV, input level ch1 pot scales the transpose interval
- wired pins : inverter pins
- attack button jack : gate input
- KS minijack : in parallel with sequence length turn wheel, likely intended to modulate the sequence length with expression pedal (not confirmed)
The synth's general cosmetic condition is great overall, the only significant flaw being a crack in the case as seen in the pictures.
Comes with its power cable, umbilical KS-to-Synthi cable, a few patch sheets and full set of pins."

Batchas - We are not comedians
video upload by batchas
"The track is based on Synton Fenix II & III, plus modded Vermona ER-9, recorded to a stereo track in one take.
I'm also using my Buchla system to assist the Synton Fenix II & III patch for the digital delay coming from my Scrotum Lab 'Espace Temps', the sample played by my Kesako 'Player & Reverb' module and the noise from 266e 5sent to Fenix phaser with a lot of feedback)."
