Make Noise Introduces DXG (Dual Stereo Gate) - Low Pass Gate and Mixer Eurorack Module

video upload by MAKEN0ISE

via MAKEN0ISE

"The Dual Stereo Gate (DXG) music synthesizer module is a Dual Stereo Low Pass Gate and Mixer. It follows in the footsteps of the QMMG, Optomix, RxMx, DynaMix, and LxD. Unlike its predecessors, the DXG is specifically oriented around mixing stereo signals, making it an important addition to any system containing modules like XPO, QPAS, Morphagene, Mimeophon, Spectraphon, and other stereo modules by Make Noise or others.

"Jammin' live for a bit. It's been awhile. I had to get on the OB-6 for a bit. Love this synth... It plays well with the digitakt and syntakt combo.

There's also some percussion samples from the Pulsar-23 and subs sampled from the MC-202."

TOPS | Colder & Closer | Moog Sound Lab

video upload by

"Formed in Montréal in 2011, the members of TOPS have made their mark as a staple in today’s indie pop scene.

Seamlessly blending elements of dream-pop and indie rock, TOPS is celebrated for their lush and sophisticated sound. The band’s captivating melodies, intricate arrangements, and ethereal vocals bring a nostalgic yet modern identity to today’s pop music landscape that feels both timeless and contemporary.

In this video, TOPS takes the stage inside the Moog Sound Lab in Asheville, NC, to put a spin on fan-favorite “Colder & Closer” from their 2020 release, 'I Feel Alive.' The band reimagines this track with melodies from Matriarch, Grandmother triggered by guitar via MIDI, spacey Moog One pads, deep Subsequent 37 bass, and more!

TOPS is…
Jane Penny: vocals
David Carriere: guitar
Riley Fleck: drums, synths
Marta Cikojevic: keyboards, synths

The truthfulness and "acoustics feel" of the sounds are incredible!
Cunsa reacts in a very organic and colorful way, starting the synthesis of the sound by sculpting the trig/gate, thanks to the characteristics of Major Tom, you get a very wide palette of sounds."

New Systems Instruments #jamuary2024 no 1

video upload by New Systems Instruments

"Apologies for the unedited mix. Patch notes: audio out from the keyboard is going directly to the mixer and also to the Eurorack, landing in the sync input of a Triphase. Triphase out 1 and 2 are going to two Inertias configured for frequency division. So basically, frequency multiplication followed by division. The noise is pink noise through two VCAs, modulated by a fast and a slow LFO."

"Here's your chance to own one of the rarest, most legendary synths on the planet, the Yamaha DX1!

It's in good condition and a little road/studio worn, as you can see in the pictures. All of the blemishes are superficial, with the exception of the missing button on voice 8 of bank B, though, the button is still perfectly functioning. The keyboard and all of its features, down to the segmented displays and polyphonic aftertouch, are perfectly playable! I do have an STL file for a replacement button, but I never got around to having it made. I will provide the buyer with the file. Also included will be the custom hardshell case I had made for it."

"Original Korg 1970's analog monophonic synthesizer, model MS-20. Very good working condition. I bought this back in the 80's but never did much with it. It's been sitting ever since. Being an electrical engineer with a lot of repair experience, I reworked the unit to clean all controls, switches and key contacts. I tested all functions I could figure out how to test, and all are functioning properly. Keys work smoothly and have good original feel. Operates on standard 110 VAC. Includes three short patch cables. Set of Korg instruction books also included, along with a notebook with setup sheets and several sample setups."

Arturia MiniFreak - 80s patches? You got it!

video upload by Espen Kraft

"Arturia MiniFreak - a 6 voice hybrid synth. I think it competes very well with both a Alpha Juno as well as a Korg DW-8000 and even a DX21. It can cover a lot of 80s synthesizer patches. Great onboard effects and a fun arpeggiator as well.
Well worth a look if you're on a budget. I don't like the mini keys though, but it means it's physically quite easy to haul around and it might even replace my Alpha Juno for live gigs. It's more than adequate for the occasion. I like it more than the MicroFreak which is also pretty decent although somewhat different in architecture.

Here are some custom 80s patches from my upcoming patch bank.

Nord Rack 2 virtual analog synth jam, only using digital synth for all melodic sounds, with Ableton

video upload by Expanding Sound

https://expandingsound.com

I know digital synths, especially virtual analog style aren't really all that sought after. Analog or bust seems to be the mindset of most musicians these days, so when this thing came into my possession I wasn't all that excited to test it out. After breaking it out for this jam I will say I was pleasantly surprised. I don't subscribe to the idea that some pieces of gear are terrible, more so they just might not be the right tools for a specific job.

All sounds are from the Nord Rack 2, except the drums. I couldn't make a snare drum sound I liked on the synth so I just made a rack in Ableton.
There is a little delay and reverb on some patches but that's basically it, besides that it's just the rack. #nord #synth #synthesizer #Ableton #music"

Mimeophon QPAS Feedback Patch

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Here's a second feedback patch. This time, I am using an endless loop between QPAS and Mimeophon, with lead sounds from Spectraphon. I was expecting a lot, but I used too much VCA's and couldn't really find a good sweetspot. But then I only used QPAS and Mimeophon, both modulated by the WoggleBug... Please note I recorded the Just QPAS+Mimeophon a few hours ago. The first patch was recorded yesterday evening. I glued it together.

Let's make a modular synth patch in the style of Ryoji Ikeda

video upload by Frap Tools

"Ikeda's style is famous for its austere structure and meticulously carved sounds. Such precision is achievable in the digital domain, so it may thus sound a bit odd to emulate it with a modular synthesizer, which by definition is "less reliable" than a computer.

However, even if we must forgo the exact repeatability of computer music, we can still learn something from this approach that we can transfer to our modular synth: playing with pure tones, and noise, and leaving a lot of space in the mix. Let us know if you liked the result and if you have more ideas!

Shakmat Clock O'Pawn MK2: Demo

video upload by Shakmat

"The Clock O’Pawn mk2 serves as a versatile clock device, taking on the role of true 'chef d’orchestre' for your modular system. Its transport section lets you start, stop, and reset instruments synchronized with its intuitive internal clock or have your setup dance with your MIDI equipment.

If you find metronomic clock signals uninspiring, a variety of groove patterns and clock humanization features enable the maestro to guide your setup with distinctive shuffles and swings. To complete this rich set of features in a small yet powerful clock source: presets memory, select bus compatibility, and several handy options to configure the Clock O'Pawn the way it suits you the best.

BRiES Nontemporary Toolkit / LYRATE for Decent Sampler

video upload by BRiES

"To download or find out more about the LYRATE plugin pack, visit the Decent Samples webshop: http://www.decentsamples.com

Inspired by the leftfield Lyra 8 instrument by Soma Labs LYRATE offers an unusual interface that enables harmonic (and dissonant) experimentation with a broad set of soundsources. Just like with the SYNTHS one plugin pack I wanted to provide the means to make complex and cinematic sounds yourself. To make this pack I didn’t sample a real Lyra 8, instead I recorded several other (hardware) synths including modular VCOs and a vintage Korg MS20. The core feature of Lyra 8 (i.e. being able to tune and tweak the individual voices) is what excited me to create these virtual instruments."

INTRODUCING THE CRUMAR COMPOSER - COMPILATION VIDEO

video upload by Vintage Audio Institute Italia

"Here we go - this is the first of a series of videos I started a few year ago - and I thought I'd add some songs to it throughout - damn this thing sounds nice - the elusive Crumar Composer.

4 section poly/ mono / organ / string machine beast - consider it an Italian Korg Trident of sorts.

Laughably behind the times upon its short production run of 400 back in 1982-83 - instead all the sounds generated by this guy are straight from the 1970’s.

Despite each section being quite limited in modulation possibilities it's still quite versatile instrument with some unique features such as the breath control, the mono and poly section sharing the filter, and the organ section with percussion tabs and sustain.

There's more info in the video - enjoy!"
