Novation Peak geeking around

This is one of those videos where you won't hear much change until you jump around with the player controls. It's an interesting stroll through various wavetable waveforms, including live editing via the software editor. It will give you an idea of some of the textures capable on the Peak and Summit including the use of various effects and filter. You can zoom in on the Peak display to see some of the edits being made.

"The Mutant Rimshot is a fully analog rimshot and clave generator inspired by the rimshot found in the legendary 909 drum machine; a triple bridged-T oscillator coupled with a state variable filter. The clave sound (not a feature of the original 909 rimshot) is achieved by using just one of the oscillators. Redesigned by Erica Synths in close collaboration with Hexinverter.

Timeline:

00:00 - Jam 1 / 4x Rimshot modules mixed with the Hot Glue. No external FX
01:01 - Take 1 / Going through different modes, adding noise to VCF in
02:27 - Take 2 / FM radio into VCF in, Rimshot is triggered with the first LFO of the Modulator and CVF is modulated with the second LFO output
03:08 - Take 3 / Rimshot with VCF in Hi-Pass mode triggered and modulated with the Modulator
04:15 - Jam 2 / 4x Rimshot modules mixed with the Hot Glue. No external FX
04:57 - Take 4 / Another take with FM radio on the Rimshot VCF in

"The Mutant Rimshot is an analog rimshot and clave percussion synthesis module inspired by analog drum machines of the past. Like the other Mutant Drums, the Rimshot is capable of going above and beyond vanilla sounds. Expressive CV options, an external input and a multi-mode analog filter let you create unique percussion sounds in your modular synthesizer.

Features:

Three oscillator modes

Rimshot HI mode brings classic rimshot sounds
Rimshot LO gives a lower pitch range; try playing with the filter on this setting to get low tom and kickdrum sounds.
CLV (Clave) mode uses just one of the oscillators to give you a brighter, higher percussive sound.
A switch on the back lets you select between original and extended pitch modes. Original mode can give you rimshots exactly modelling that of classic machines (in Hi mode), whereas extended mode gives a wider range of pitch, at the expense of classic accuracy.
Three filter modes
Use the lowpass or highpass filter modes for classic sounding rimshots
Highpass and bandpass can give a wider range of clave and rimshot sounds, as well as completely different percussive elements (especially when turning the resonance up!)

VCF IN lets you blend the clave or rimshot with other sounds. Try adding some filtered noise for a more acoustic sounding rimshot, or for pseudo-snare type sounds.
Novel decay and filter mod controls
The MOD DECAY envelope controls the decay of the VCA envelope
The VCF MOD attenuverter allows you to modulate the filter cutoff with the MOD DECAY envelope
Alternatively, a switch on the back lets you modulate the filter cutoff with the pitch-controlled internal VCO, for filter FM style percussive hits."

The MS-5 is touted as a faithful reproduction of the Roland SH-5 all-analog circuitry. With a touch of some modern feature additions. While I have tried a friend's original SH-5, this is not a comparison to the original. Nor is this an exhaustive how-to, nor covering all features.

"The National RF-1300 Rhythm Machine is a lot of things. It is a drum machine with preset rhythms. You can also use the buttons on top to play the drum sounds. There is an aux in and two mic/guitar in ports with adjustable volume. The radio works as well. I always use this plugged in and have not tried with batteries since the back battery plate is missing."

"This is one of one. These Mutuca FM analog synths from Arthur Joly are no longer in production (and likely never will be again) and this one was custom made for me with a yellow backplate instead of the traditional blue. Its a beautiful color (Marigold?).

Arthur Joly of Reco-Synth hails from Brazil and has been making boutique, 100% analog synths for many years (). It's been an honor to have this piece of synth history.

The tactile nature of the red button keyboard is a treat and I found it encouraged me to approach composition in a pleasantly novel way. Or run MIDI in from a Keystep and the sky's the limit. The output isn't too hot so it paired wonderfully with my pedalboard.

"great fully analogue vocoder, made in Germany, by FAT. which is the same as more famous company MAM, and this unit is completely identical to legendary MAM VF-1. back in the time they were releasing their products under a few brand names, with different panel designs, but electronically identical.

fully analogue, can be used traditionally, but also as a very experimental tool. any signals can be plugged in and mutually processed.

this unit has an amazing modification installed - tumbler power switch on the back!!! which makes things way more convenient. originally they don’t have power switches, and you had to plug it out manually every time."
