Curves & Membranes - Software Bézier Monosynth w. Orbital Modulators & Membrane Filter

1. Curves & Membranes - Software Bézier Monosynth w. Orbital Modulators & Membrane Filter - Walk Through
2. Curves & Membranes - Sound Demo and Patch Ideas - No Talking
3. Curves & Membranes | Synthesizer Patch Creation & Sound Design Walkthrough
4. Curves & Membranes v1.1.0 | New Features and Sound Examples
5. Curves & Membranes Filter Walkthrough | Understanding the Membranes
6. Unusable Engineering Jam | Curves & Membranes in a Different Context
7. Unusable Engineering Update | Curves & Membranes Features and Grain Discharge
8. Unusable Engineering Breakfast Jam | Curves & Membranes + Full Bundle

"Curves & Membranes is a focused mono synth built around a shapeable Bézier oscillator, two visual modulation systems, and a membrane-based filter. In this full walkthrough I go through the core ideas behind the instrument, how the oscillator works, how the preset morphing and orbital modulators create movement, and how the membrane filter shapes the sound.

The goal with Curves & Membranes was not to make a do-everything synth, but to build something more specific: a synth where sound, shape, and motion are tightly connected, and where the structure stays easy to understand while still allowing a lot of character and timbral movement.

And a playlist of addtional plug-ins by Unusable Engineering:

Playlist:

1. Synaptic Resonance | Neural Vocoder Walkthrough

Synaptic Resonance is a neural vocoder-style effect where incoming audio, or an optional sidechain, excites a two-dimensional neural simulation. That simulation is then read back somewhere else and used to animate a bank of forty steep resonant band-pass filters.

In this walkthrough I go through the basic idea behind the plugin, show how the Stim Plane and Read Plane shape the behavior, and explain how the neural controls affect the way the model reacts, spreads, remembers, recovers, and settles.

The core idea is fairly simple: the input excites the model, and the output is affected by reading the model. That is what gives the plugin its character. It can behave like a vocoder, a resonant filter instrument, or something more unstable and alive depending on how it is set up.

Tone2 Releases Gladiator 4.2

"Tone2 Audio has updated their harmonic-content-morphing synthesizer Gladiator to version 4.2. The update free for anyone who bought Gladiator 4. Owners of Gladiator 1,2 or 3 can upgrade with a big discount.

What's new?

New additive synthesis modes for the 'UNISON MODE':

'Additive partials' stacks 4 disharmonic 'organ' oscillators. You can use the 'SPREAD' knob to change the ratio.

'Additive bell' stacks 4 disharmonic 'bell' oscillators. You can use the 'SPREAD' knob to change the ratio.

New additive synthesis modes for the 'PHASE MOD' spectrum:

'Tune partials +' detunes the higher partials of a spectrum without detuning the base harmonic. The amount of detuning depends from the morph 'SPEED'.

'Tune partials -' detunes the partials in reverse direction. The amount of detuning depends from the morph 'SPEED'.

'Splash tune' heavily detunes the partials without detuning the base harmonic. The amount of detuning depends from the morph 'SPEED'.

'Fluppy tune' heavily detunes the partials without detuning the base harmonic. The amount of detuning depends from the morph 'SPEED'.

'Crackles' creates random phase garbage.

Enhanced sound:

The new quality mode 'ultra high-end' calculates oscillators with double precision and 4x oversampling.

The enhanced FFT precision results in more accurate resampling of waveforms.

Replaced 'Reverb Large' with a much better unit. It has a smoother rolloff and more detail.

"KOSMOS2 & KOSMOS‑ONE — Generative Synth Engines by plantssystemplantssystem introduces two new generative sound engines — KOSMOS2 and KOSMOS‑ONE — both built on the PRA32‑U2/M architecture and designed for compact hardware instruments.

They share the same musical DNA but serve different creative roles:

KOSMOS2 is a 4‑part autonomous generative system, while KOSMOS‑ONE is a minimal, single‑part generative engine optimized for small builds and embedded devices.KOSMOS2 — Four‑Part Generative EcosystemKOSMOS2 is a multi‑layer generative engine running on Raspberry Pi Pico2 or RP2040 hardware. It features four independent musical agents — Melody, Bass, Chord, and Sequence — each following its own rules while interacting within a shared harmonic framework.Key features:4 autonomous generative parts with deterministic behaviorPRA32‑U2/M synth engine running on Core1 with stable 44.1kHz I2S outputReal‑time control via TouchOSC or external MIDI CCScale, chord, arpeggio, and pattern generation with per‑part randomizationOptimized for RP2350 with improved DSP headroomDesigned for live performance and installation useKOSMOS2 makes its public debut at Hamamatsu Micro Maker Faire 2026, exhibited at the ISGK Instruments booth.

KOSMOS‑ONE — Minimal Generative Engine for Small HardwareKOSMOS‑ONE is a compact, single‑part version of the KOSMOS engine.

Gradient Noise [stereo version]

video upload by John C.S. Keston

"On May 11, 2026 I premiered my piece Gradient Noise at the International Computer Music Conference (ICMC) in Hamburg, Germany. The following video represents a stereo, studio recording of the performance. The performed piece was quadraphonic and contained one to four layers of instruments with independent, corresponding, video objects.

Since 2019 I have been composing animated graphic scores for ensembles and soloists. Examples include collaborative works like Parking Ramp Project or SYNTAX, solo pieces like Rhodonea. These generative works are projected for both the performers to read and audience to experience. I write the software that generates and animates geometric forms, and then establish rules on how the forms are read, whilst allowing improvisation and the emotional response of the performer to play an integral part in each piece.

Gradient Noise, written using the Processing.org language, translates values generated by the Perlin noise algorithm into independent layers of seamless loops repeating at variable intervals. These loops are visualized as geometric forms, abstract visualizations, and evolving structures. The data generated is aleatoric, but the values can be tuned to range between slowly moving gradients or rapid, angular forms. When the sound and visuals are synchronized I respond not only to the animation but also to the changes in the timbre of my instruments."

09:45 Conclusion

"In today's demo and tutorial, we have a bit of fun with the new USB Solo mk2 from our friends at Kenton Electronics. The handy little gadget builds on Kenton's previous MIDI to CV converters, and allows one to convert MIDI from USB or 5-pin DIN to a variety of CV signals, including pitch (1V/Oct), gate and trigger, 3 aux channels for CC, velocity, aftertouch, and more. It also supports MIDI clock, allowing one to synchronize Eurorack and other analog synthesizers with your DAW or MIDI sequencer. Additional features include a built-in LFO and envelope.

Big Merp decided he wanted to be a part of this demo, too 😺"

Morphor ECHON 6 & Erica Synths Hexdrums | Winterdagen

video upload by Winterdagen

"What a magical combination! The other day I tried to run my current favourite drum machine the Erica Synths Hexdrums trough the audio input of the Morphor ECHON 6 and I was blown away by the result.

In this piece, Hexdrums is being used as an exciter for ECHON's six analogue BBD resonators, which are playing a chord progression coming via a midi cable from Ableton Live. I'm using both the knobs on Hexdrums as well as ECHON 6 to create movement and build-ups, and in the second build-up I'm also feeding in some of ECHON's amazing noise generator. Such an amazing sound!"
