Influencing Feedback with Dark Matter & Party Mix from Casper & BASTL at Superbooth 2018

Published on May 13, 2018 DivKidVideo

"Dark Matter from Casper Electronics & BASTL brings in feedback, EQ, distortion and envelope following into a single eurorack module made to embrace, create and control feedback. There's a range of unique tones and ways to control them. Party Mix is a simple small utility style output/performance mixer and looks great too. I look forward to seeing these develop and come to life later in the year.

We're proud to have our Superbooth 2018 content sponsored by www.thonk.co.uk"

"One of the most extensive peter Edwards ever crafted and fit entirely into a Speak&___ body. The multi-function LFO section generates pumping rhythms and throbbing glitchdom. Most of the complex designs by Casper are now in the hands of well known composers/ artists such as Danny Elman, Mike Patton, etc.. and the infamous Australian Military-surplus double-stacked rotary controls became unobtainable years ago.

Please review my other auctions for rare and unusual synths, custom prototypes, etc...
This instrument was built with the very best parts sourced globally. It is a highly refined, rare and unique example of extensive cross synthesis from one of the best electronics designers to have mixed classic synthesizer components and controls with circuit bent electronics..."

Jeff Hunt DIY Synth Project - The Portal

Published on Oct 2, 2016 Jeff Hunt

"My DIY groovebox. I am a beginner. Just got started this year after watching videos by Casper Electronics. Highly recommended! I followed up by researching 9v/12v single supply circuits, and after much trial and error I came up with this final product. Many thanks to the folks on the Synth DIY forums on Facebook and elsewhere for tons of advice. Also many thanks to Nicolas Collins and his book Handmade Electronic Music for lots of tips. Feel free to ask any questions, and thanks for watching!

Square/Sawtooth/Triangle waves
16-step sequencer based on a simple 40106/4040/4067 design for the oscillator
8-step sequencer based on a 40106/4040/4051 design for drums

I did install a clock input but haven't even tried it yet. I think I may have to build an external clock adapter module to make it work right due to the way I timed everything.

Sound processing circuits based on the following designs with my modifications:

--MS20 style lowpass filter with lfo modulation by Tim Escobedo

--"Little Angel" chorus by Frequency Central

--"Funky MF" multimode envelope follower filter by Frequency Central http://www.frequencycentral.co.uk/

--"Echo Bender" delay by Casper Electronics http://casperelectronics.com/finished...

All live sets.

Cables of Love

From subtle minimal and classic Techno, House & Acid, roaring noise and gently massaging subs to laser light shows & live visual projections of sound, Cables Of Love with the Humboldthain bring together a diverse range of local, pan-European and international talent for an extravaganza of ear-pleasing and booty shaking pleasure.

2 Stagess: 1 for Techno / House / Acid Party Dancing, 1 for Experimental, lots of live acts with their various Modular and DIY Synths.

Further additions to the Line Up TBA in due time but for now, here's some of the acts and their bios can be found below:

Laser Bros (AT/CZ)
Laser Bros creates a synesthetic experience of beauty by connecting 2D-laser projections and body shaking electric sound waves generated in real time by an analog modular synthesizer. Changing the visual will modify the audible and vice versa.
Laser Bros is a collaboration of Bernhard Rasinger (a.k.a. BR Laser) and Václav Peloušek (a synthesizer inventor at Bastl Instruments).

Bastl Instruments bitRanger ADDON boards - BITBOARD & SYNAPSIS & OMSynth miniLab

Published on Dec 5, 2016 Bastl Instruments

OMSynth miniLab

Published on Dec 5, 2016 Bastl Instruments

"The BitBoard is a breadboard add-on module that allows users to build custom circuits and user interfaces for the BitRanger. It is solidly attached to the bitRanger and provides performance friendly stability. It either comes just on its own, or with with 2 pots, 2 buttons and 4 switches which can help you to start designing your own bitRanger interface."

"The synapsis is a 4×4 pushbutton matrix that offers performative control of the Bit Ranger.

There are 8 patch points connected to 4 rows (ABCD) and 4 columns (1234) of buttons. Pressing button A1 connects point A to point 1. A2 connects A to 2. B2 connects B to 2 and so on."

"The OMSynth (Open Modular Synthesizer) is an electronic musical instrument development interface that embodies the ethos and technical methodology of modular synthesis but is designed specifically for inventors. One way this is achieved is by encouraging invention to start at the breadboard level. From here circuits can be built up to robust, road ready instruments. By starting at the breadboard circuits are cheap and flexible and the inventor is free to quickly build and change designs without fighting against a high level form factor.

FEATURES: 3 channel audio mixer 1 Watt audio amplifier and built in speaker and ¼” audio output jack 5 modular potentiometers 3 modular DPDT latching pushbuttons Circuit prototyping area"

Bastl Introduces New Product at Moogfest - The bitRanger Handheld Patchable Analog Logic Computer

Published on May 18, 2016 Bastl Instruments

"Bastl Instruments introduces a new product at the Moogfest: the bitRanger designed by Peter Edwards a.k.a. Casper Electronics who moved recently to Brno, Czech Republic to join forces with the Bastl crew. The bitRanger brings together the legacy of the previous products debuted at Moogfest the Werkstatt and the Pocket Operator and bridges both realms of these instruments together.

The bitRanger is a patchable analog logic computer which sculpts sonic worlds ranging from data noise to melodic arpeggios. While being a handheld standalone synth it is also right at home in the music studio. Extensive connectivity makes it so flexible that it can connect to almost anything: CV control its unique sound, sync it with drum machines and sequencers or use it as an algorithmic CV / GATE pattern generator.

The patchbay of the bitRanger (in the same style as the Werkstatt) is a place for exploration where you can simply connect outputs to inputs to see what happens. This can be done methodically or with complete experimental abandon. Go nuts! Battery Power and a built in speaker make the bitRanger totally portable. Tweak it's 4 knobs, 8 switches and more than 100 patch points in the woods, on the beach, on a train and in the studio.

There are only 3 places in the world where you can try out the bitRanger: the Moogfest in Durham NC, freshly opened store of Bastl & Casper Detective Squad in Brooklyn NY and original Bastl store Noise Kitchen in Brno Czech Republic. The first limited edition will be available for sale at Moogfest for special price 259 USD.

BitRanger is available at noise.kitchen website for 222 EUR excluding TAX and will be shipping in June."

Double Novadrone Semi-Modular Drone Synth

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"This thing sounds incredible. Weird textures and wild ambiences galore. It's two novadrones stuck together so you have 24 pots and 20 switches, two individual outs or one summed. I've included a bunch of mini patch cables to play around with once you exhaust the normal possibilities (which might take you some time) - the patch points are next to the pots. I'll also throw in some LEDs so you can do things like this"
