Prismatic Spray + Hologram Microcosm jam #1

video upload by Arman Bohn

"Prismatic Spray on sale now for 20% off!

Through 11/27/23!

https://www.tindie.com/products/distr...

Finally took a minute to just run my Prismatic Spray through my microcosm. They’re not tempo synced, but it is such chaos it doesn’t really matter. the Prismatic Spray provides the core of the sound and the microcosm adds a layer of magic."

MIDI out test Great Conjunction prototype into the Prismatic Spray through Hologram Microcom

video upload by Arman Bohn

"It’s been a while. I’m back. Here is yet another in the seemingly endless prototypes of the Great Conjunction. I’m testing the out from the sequencers of the GC, feeding the output of the first sequencer via MIDI into the Prismatic Spray. All of this is getting beautified by the Hologram Microcosm."

Late Night Ambient Soundtrack (Osmose, Microcosm, Nightsky, GR-1, OB-6, Matriarch)

video upload by NGC0 Music

"Couldn't sleep last night, so I've assembled a few toys and recorded this.
You'll hear mainly the Osmose going through the Microcosm + Nightsky (My only FX chain), the Rhodes through a Chase Bliss Blooper pedal (in delay mode), the Moog Matriarch (bass), and OB-6 (dreamy EP sound). I've then sent the full mix back to the Tasty Chips GR-1, did some granular tweaks, and recorded the outcome back into the main mix."

Live Hardware Electronic Music: Balance.Spring and Marc Barecca

video upload by Patchwerks

"This month we're happy to host the musical talents of Marc Barreca and Balance.Spring for our monthly Showroom Sessions.

As always, Showroom Sessions are a great chance to enjoy live music from our incredibly talented community and link up with friends old and new in a casual environment, connecting over a shared love of electronic music and all its devices.

Balance.Spring is the performance project of Seattle-based Brian Krall. Growing up on the iconic Casio SK-1, Brian has always been intrigued by the art of sound design and experimentation. In 2016 Brian started Balance.Spring, with an emphasis on live improvised hardware performance and experimentation. Brian is fascinated and motivated by finding where the path of technology and engineering cross with music and sound design. Brian is currently studying for a Master of Music Technology with a Game Audio Technology emphasis, where his capstone project is focused on spatial audio and developing an immersive sound and music experience in VR.

GLITCHING WITH MICROCOSM

video upload by Perplex On

"First run with the #microcosm for glitching the drums coming from #drumcomputer. Background pad coming from the wonderful #isometra plug-in for decentsampler. The microcosm is controlled by a few LFO sending various midi cc values to control parameters like mix/activity/timing on the microcosm on top of live tweaking its knobs. Besides, random midi program changes switch between the different glitch presets on the microcosm."

Ambient then heavy with Moog One, Subsequent 37, Hologram Microcosm, and eurorack drums

video upload by Jay Hosking

"Please support my work on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/jayhosking
A live, semi-improvised synth jam performed entirely on hardware.

The Moog One has become my end-of-day synth, where I just sit down and play for comfort. That ends up shaping the music itself, I think, and definitely is where this song emerged. I started with something ambient and melancholy, but I knew I wanted it to get huge.

Using the Moog One's multiple timbres, I made a pad, motif, and bass sound, and sequenced it all internally. For some extra oomph, I added my eurorack drum setup, which is sounding even better now that the Endorphin.es Ghost got a firmware update to improve filter and add sample rate reduction.

I couldn't get the Moog One to send clock out to the eurorack drums, so I had both synth and drums free running at the same tempo. I was happy they didn't drift too much!

And toward the end, I realized I needed another timbre for melody/lead, so I added the Subsequent 37. It's still one of my absolute favourites; it just has "that sound." The Microcosm adding some nice character to the melody, as well.

Moog One - three synth timbres (pad, motif, bass), effects, sequencing
Moog Subsequent 37 + Hologram Microcosm - lead/melody
Eurorack drums:
- Intellijel Steppy 1U - drum sequencing
- Mystic Circuits IDUM - extra drum sequencing colour
- Prok Kick, Tiptop 808 Snare, Prok Hats, WMD Fracture - drum voices
- Intellijel Mixup - mixer
- Intellijel FSR 1U - performance pad for extending perc decay
- Endorphin.es Ghost - filter, delay, reverb, compression, drive, sample rate reduction

Performed and recorded live, with additional drive on the bassline, plus EQ, compression, and limiting, especially on the master.

Thanks for listening.
