LeafAudio Microphonic Soundbox - Audio Demo

TheLeafAudio
Published on Aug 3, 2017

"Here's a first demo of our Microphonic Soundbox. It's ready and will be available as a DIY kit and ready made unit via www.exploding-shed.com

It is an acoustic instrument which I created 20 years ago and finally we made it public now to share it with you. 2 internal contact mics can be amplified (100x Gain) and mixed to the mono out as a line signal. If an external signal is inserted, mic 1 is switched off. Supercool for creating otherworldly sounds and ambiences, great for processing with hard- and software."

Creating a new acoustic synths label for these moving forward. No, guitars don't count. Guitar synths, however, do. :)

New 3HP DIY DSP Euro Module from DSP Synthesizers

via Jan of DSP Synthesizers

"I got tired of eurorack and put it on hold for a while.

But what happens when 8bitmixedtape has this great audio bootloader?
It inspired me to make the 3HP DSP module and got me hooked again.

The module works the same as my dsp-Host.
3 analog inputs. 2 of them with attenuators and one audio output.

So whats so different with this one?
It can be reprogrammed through the audio out jack.
Without a programmer!

Just play a wavefile from a phone, MP3 player or your PC with the firmware and it’s a new module.

Use the Arduino IDE to make your own programs or use the downloadable editor to make VCOs, filter, delays or anything you can imagine and reprogram the module with an audio cable.

It is of course open-source and all info including code and PCBs for the Phase Distortion Oscillator can be found at:

https://janostman.wordpress.com/the-3hp-paperface-euro-modules/

Many thanks to the 8bitmixedtape crew for the support and letting me join.

Cheers"

Euro Buchla 100 Modules - Testing! 01

Published on Jul 11, 2017 djangosfire

"Having a blast beta-testing these euro format Buchla 100 reproductions (for a friend, I did not build these) - Perfect for getting a feel of the patch style used in the early Buchla 100 systems. No filters used, just gates (non-vactrol for the early 110's) - great wide range of tones and timbres - can't wait to try more!!"

New Pocket Sized Synsonique Drum Synth from DSP Synthesizers

$30 DIY Kit via DSP Synthesizers

"This is a remake of the classic Synsonic drum.

This one is pocket size, 92x76mm and uses touch pads instead of piezo sensors.
You play it with your fingers.

And it uses the TinyAudioBootloader so you can upload new firmware and drum sounds through the audiojack. No programmer required.

Features:
4 Drum sounds with touch pads.
Tuning knob.
Runs on a CR2032 battery.

A great rainy summer day project and probably the easiest DIY kit ever made.
Great for beginners."

DSP Synthesizers microBeat PCB Now Available

via DSP Synthesizers

"If you have purchased the uO2 minipops chip there is now a PCB available for it.

It has potentiometers for tempo and pattern, switch for run/stop and power, leds for clock/reset outputs and a CR2032 battery holder in the back.

Measuring only 61x41mm makes the minipops rhythmbox pocket sized.

The PCB and u02 chip can be purchased at DSP Synthesizers."

New Barton Musical Circuits Manual Voltages & Preset Rhythms DIY Modules

Published on Jun 12, 2017 boogdish

Update: details via Barton Musical Circuits:

"This module is a controller that uses a large knob to control pitch and a button to generate triggers and gates. It features internal Sample/Hold and Slew circuits. The PCB has MOTM and Eurorack style power connecters. The jacks are the only panel parts not PCB-Mounted making for easy wiring while being flexible for use in different synth formats. There are also mounting holes for using offboard pots/switches."

Published on Jun 13, 2017 boogdish

Update: details via Barton Musical Circuits:

"This module is a PIC-based rhythm generator inspired by old rhythm boxes and keyboard presets. Kick and Snare patterns are selected using the knobs. It features an internal clock but is compatible with an external clock. There are CV and trigger inputs for pattern selection allowing for an external sequencer to be used. It features Eurorack and MOTM style power connecters and can be used on either 12V or 15V systems without modification."

Published on Jun 7, 2017 Gibran Curtiss

A new DIY turntable CV controller from Gibran Curtiss aka Pantala Labs. You might remember the test video posted earlier. This new video replaces it with more details including the following:

P.S.  Curious what it would be like to use Optigan disks on this.  Use the printed Optigan waveforms as CV control.

"This is the new version of CCV - Color Control Voltage.
CCV2 is a DIY Arduino Mega based instrument, 100% synth compatible to convert colors into voltage/music.

Specs:
-full turntable arm and 12" platter;
-note quantizer for all 3 channels on chromatic scale;
-octave quantity control;
-octave/semitone shift control;
-clock divider control;
-euclidean rhythm generator control;
-internal clock / optical indexed clock / external clock options;
-3x 5V / 1VO = 5 octaves buffered CV outs using 12 bit DACs;
-4x buffered clock outs;
-motor speed control;
-arm step interval control;
