Introni - Archive of Italian Electronic Magazines

I spotted this one in a post by Francesco Mulassano of Soundmit and Torino Synth Meeting. The image comes from this PDF. I was curious what exactly it was, and what synth was pictured, so I reached out to him. According to Francesco:

"Introni is a sort of archive of almost all old italian electronic magazines (and a few in other languages), very interesting archive, inexhaustible source of great pictures. Onde Quadre was one of this magazine, they spot sometimes synthesizers as a diy project like this.

Brighton Modular Meet 2017 Performances

Published on Jul 18, 2017 Brighton Modular Meet

New playlist of Brighton Modular Meet performances. You can find the previous playlist here. I actually added this one to that post as well, so you can hop over there for both in one post if you like. And of course, see the Brighton label at the bottom of this post to bring up all posts for the event.

"Sponsored by Thonk, Makenoise, Rubadub, Ableton, AJH Synths, ALM Busy Circuits, Arturia, Erica Synths and Expert Sleepers. http://brightonmodularmeet.co.uk/"

Playlist:
1. Simonsound live at Brighton Modular Meet 2017

"Manipulating a self generating patch (inspired by Todd Barton’s ‘Krell’ patch) on the Buchla 200e, with additional noises coming from the Cocoquantus and processing via Eventide Space effects.

Simon’s soundtrack to the radio drama, Akiha Den Den, is released on July 28th. Radio interference, snatches of intercepted broadcasts, codes, tones, signals and other haunting sounds from the wireless feature heavily alongside the soundtrack conjured up on an array of synthesisers including the Buchla 200e Electric Music Box and EMS VCS3. Occasionally the voices of Akiha Den Den's inhabitants burn through the white noise offering a glimpse of their tangled patchbay like story.

Released by Castles in Space on clear vinyl, the physical package includes an Akiha Den Den booklet (designed by Nick Taylor) and Bonus CD filled with over 70 minutes of Buchla Modular, EMS, drones, dramatics, cassette 4 track abuse and noise from the Akiha Den Den radio series.

Gofundme for TheSynthFreq

Many of you will be familiar with TheSynthFreq from previous posts here on MATRIXSYNTH. MATRIXSYNTH reader midierror wrote in to let us know she has a Gofundme page up for anyone that would like to help her out.

From the Gofundme:

"Most of us in the synthesizer world have at one point or another come across Danielle Morales AKA TheSynthFreq's Youtube channel. It's full of the quirky demos, tips, and music of a woman that obviously loves her synths. What may not be as obvious because she doesn't make it clear in her videos is that she has some fairly serious, life long medical issues. Danielle is deaf-blind, and has been in and out of the hospital many times over the last few years, suffering through strokes that have left her partially paralyzed. Her Facebook feed is a story of endless struggle, yet I have never seen her ask for help or fish for sympathy, she takes it all in stride as best as she can. It is simultaneously heartbreaking and inspiring to watch.

Last night she made a post on Facebook asking for advice on how to sell her gear, because during her most recent ICU stay she needed an emergency intubation... and during that process nearly all of her front teeth, top and bottom, were knocked out, and her insurance is refusing to cover the cost of dental prosthetics. She has described to me the way she looks now with no front teeth as "shocking". This is unacceptable. She absolutely should not have to trade her music for the ability to leave her house without appearing "shocking". I contacted her after seeing her for sale post to ask if she was comfortable with a fundraiser, and she is, so I ask you- my fellow synth nerds across the planet- if you have even a dollar to spare to help this ridiculously strong woman get some sense of normalcy back to her life without losing her music in the process, please help her out. 100% of whatever is collected will go straight to Danielle, I have assigned all financial control of this account to her. Also, if anyone reading this is a dentist/owns a dental lab/ has any relevant connections in the Austin, TX area and would be willing to donate professional services, please feel free to contact us."

Lady Starlight - Against The Clock

Published on Jun 7, 2017 FACTmagazine

"Techno in 10 minutes from one of Berlin's rising stars.

Lady Starlight's journey has been anything but ordinary. Formerly a tour DJ for Lady Gaga, Starlight found herself meeting UK techno veteran Surgeon after a show in his hometown of Birmingham and the pair have been collaborating ever since, regularly appearing at clubs and festivals across Europe.

Last month, she released her debut solo EP on respected techno label Stroboscopic Artefacts. Spanning four tracks of relentless 4/4, it got us eager to see what kind of music the producer could make with just 10 minutes in the studio and her formidable collection of gear."

Published on Jun 3, 2017 Erica Synths

"Marta SmiLga is the project of Līga Smirnova, Riga based musician who lives for electronic music. Using her collection of modular synths and electronic instruments she generates deep and immersive cosmic soundscapes that drag you into their gravitational field, like matter to a black hole. On the 31st of May Marta SmiLga played a live set celebrating the out-coming of her debut release on Liminal Noise label - the split cassette together with Jelena Glazova, available for purchase here: https://tinyurl.com/LiminalNoise

"Yes, Moscow, capital of that country that gave the world Theremin and the Polivoks, is now in a fully renewed embrace of the synthesizer. And as that scene develops and gets more closely connected with the international scene, we’re getting the gift of some simply spectacular music and inspiring artists.

This summer, the city will host Synthposium – earning a place on the calendar alongside the likes of Germany’s Superbooth or America’s Moogfest.

And for an artist embodying the new wonders this brings, look no further than Maria Teriaeva, who will play that event live – and who was nice enough to premiere her new single and video here on CDM. Ilya Kolesnikov provides the doodle-like visuals."

“SILENCE IS *NOT* REQUESTED”: A THREE-DAY VISION QUEST at Tinity College Dublin

This one in via @carolinezoids

"'Silence is *NOT* Requested': 29-31 May w/ Synth Petting Zoo, @Analog_On & #Moog System 55: http://www.tcd.ie/ … #berkeley50 @matrixsynth"

The will be performances as well of course. Full details here.

"Time to move outside our comfort zone…
In a nod towards the artistic “happenings” and gatherings of the 1960s, the Library of Trinity College Dublin presents three nights of poets, music, sound effects, psychedelic projections and swirling quadraphonic sound in the Berkeley Library.

Curated by Richard Duckworth of the Department of Music, these events link the fifty years since the Moog synth was made commercially available with the opening of the Berkeley Library, and mark a radical departure from our usual events…

The nights have at their heart the classic Moog System 55 synthesiser – in Dublin as part of an upcoming Science Gallery exhibition – and we are very grateful to Paul Smith/Moog Sound Lab UK for its use. Each night will feature a 'Synth Petting Zoo' to get up close and personal with the rig."
