Elastic OSC iOS MPE Update & Android Release

"Elastic OSC 1.3 adds long-awaited MPE support to iOS.
Unlock expressive control and shape sounds with polyphonic aftertouch and per-note gestures.
Map Glide (X), Slide (Y), and Pressure (Z) to synthesis parameters and control them with external MPE controllers or the built-in keyboard (X and Y). As with any MPE instrument, all gestures work polyphonically, meaning each note can control parameters independently — for example different gains or timbres depending on the pressure applied to each key.

The Android version offers the same features as iOS — just at a much lower price!!

"This track was created entirely inside BeatCutter, an experimental rhythm-driven audio slicer designed for building evolving textures and abstract sound worlds. The track began as a set of raw audio sources, which were then chopped, rearranged, and transformed through BeatCutter’s multi-channel sample matrix.

Using its flexible routing, generative templates, and the app’s unique feedback mode, the sound gradually shaped itself into a shifting, dream‑like structure - almost as if the audio were thinking and evolving on its own. The controller pairs via Bluetooth with an app called X808. This app runs exclusively on iPhone or iPad. There is a stripped-down freeware version (featuring limited synth and effect parameters) and a full version available for 8 euros. Both versions provide access to a few acoustic kits as well as ALL THE ESSENTIAL ROLAND drum machines—specifically the 808, 909, 606, 707, 626, 727, CR78, and CR80. Furthermore, it includes a full-fledged bass synthesizer and *two* full-fledged Kaoss Pads!

I tested the device using only the freeware version, and even that alone is absolutely incredible.

Naturally, you can program beats, basslines, and even full songs; moreover, the controller features an extremely intuitive design—well, as one would expect, since it *is* designed for children.

Something seems to have gone wrong with the marketing, however, because a unit this powerful really shouldn't be classified as a 'toy' anymore.

The device is brand new and has been tested just once.

The internal batteries are charged via USB.

Return — a track with Koala Sampler

"Hey. It's been a while.

Grad school and family responsibilities made it really difficult for me to put any time toward making music, so I ended up selling all my gear. After that, I tried to make a few tracks on the computer in my free time, but it was never any fun and I couldn't finish anything. I decided that music production just wasn't the right thing to be focusing on at this point in my life.

Of course, the desire never left. I spent two hours commuting every day on the train, which I usually filled with reading or listening to music. Recently, I decided I would try to make some music during those two hours. I downloaded Koala Sampler on my phone and gave it a shot. This is what I came up with.

This track uses all stock samples and the built-in Quokka synthesizer. The video is a lie. I recorded it in real time, but I ended up just exporting the stems so I could add some effects and chop some patterns around. You'll notice some drum pads aren't triggering when they should be based on the audio. Sorry.

I hope you enjoy this track. It felt really good to finally finish something."
