Why is STARTUP your first Eurorack module?

Published on May 16, 2019 Thonk Synth DIY

"Why is STARTUP your first Eurorack module? Because it has all those essentials you need to get up and running with a small modular. It syncs to your other gear, mixes the audio of both regular studio gear and modular gear at the same levels and provides a high quality line
or headphone output with lots of gain.

Build a STARTUP with designer Tom Whitwell at our workshop in Brighton on Saturday May 25th 2019 - https://www.thonk.co.uk/shop/startup-...

Buy STARTUP here - https://www.thonk.co.uk/shop/startup/"

Best first Eurorack module? Start Up from Music Thing Modular // Superbooth 2019

Published on May 16, 2019 DivKidVideo

"Is this a module we all need? There's certainly a strong argument for it with tap tempo clocks, stereo mixing and headphone/line out. It certainly meets the desire of Music Thing Modular as a module that would be a great first module for small systems. The new clock phasing modes add a nice Steve Reich flare and influence and in 4hp it's a module that's hard to ignore for small or large systems I think. Super useful!

Music Thing Modular – STARTUP - Workshop with Tom Whitwell in Brighton May 25th

via Thonk

"Startup is designed to be the best way to start a small Eurorack case, featuring a Mixer, Clock & Headphone Amp.

This is a really easy project for DIY newcomers, all the SMD components come pre-soldered and the PCB is programmed and testing prior to shipping. You just need to solder the buttons, jacks and pot.

If you want to build this module in a workshop with the designer Tom Whitwell in Brighton on May 25th 2019 then click HERE"

You can find videos featuring Music Thing's STARTUP module here.

Euclidean Techno Experiment for SSC Kyma and Sherman Filterbank.

Published on Jan 12, 2019 Frequency Manipulator

"This is a test of my synthesised Kyma percussion, which is being sequenced using Euclidean divisions. The results are processed through the Sherman Filterbank, the ADSR envelope on the Sherman is also being triggered by Euclidean Rhythms generated by the Kyma.

The signal is then heavily limited by an 1176 clone in nuke mode.

The wibbly noises are an FM patch on the Analogue Systems Modular which also makes use of a Turing Machine to modulate various elements. This is also clocked from the Kyma.

Music Thing Modular Turing Machine Mkii + Volts | DIY Kit Build

Published on May 31, 2018 Out Faux

Available on Thonk.

"Tackling the most popular Eurorack DIY project!

🔥 🔥 🔥

It is a random looping sequencer that spits out basslines and melodies. It generates strings of random voltages that can be locked into looping sequences. These sequences can be allowed to slip, changing gradually over time. This module was inspired by the long history of shift register pseudorandom synth circuits, including the Triadex Muse, Buchla 266 Source of Uncertainly and Grant Richter’s Noisering.

Music Thing Modular Graphic EQ DIY Build

Published on May 22, 2018 LowGainElectronics

"Real time build of the MusicThingModular Graphic EQ. I recommend this build for beginners. Fixed filter banks are very useful and highly underrated. Available at www.ModularAddict.com The photo at the end shows how I modified the module by drilling the jack holes out to allow the jacks plastic bushing to it in the panel a little. Less space between the pcb and panel. I also added 2 nylon flat washers to each of the screws on the sliders. This allowed me to properly tighten the screws for the middle pcb support. Not 100% necessary, but it makes me feel better knowing it’s secure. ^_^ Happy SynthDIY’ing!!"
