SYNTHBOOKS #05 - BJOOKS Push Turn Move - Kim Bjorn | SOUNDMIT

video upload by SOUNDMIT

Googlish translation further below:

HHeO by AL AZIF

"In the dark night, without star nor moon, the AL HAMAD desert plays a strange and hypnotizing music. The sands travelers tell that the wind blows in the Blind Flutes, they call this, AL AZIF.

After a night of wandering in the Syrian desert, KESMO & Vincent DRAPO, form AL AZIF in tribute to the music of the sand and nocturnal insects.

AL AZIF presents its first EP « HHeO », inspired by the three main chemical elements of the universe: hydrogen, helium and oxygen.

STROM Sampler for iPad with Elektron Rytm Integration Now Available

iTunes: STROM - Jakob Penca

Video posted here.

"STROM is an incredibly fun sampler.

Record up to 10 seconds of audio, slice and sequence it, resample, create something entirely new!

The super responsive interface lets you sequence your source material in unique ways. You can always resample what you play, allowing you to quickly lift your audio into glitch heaven. You can edit slices while you are playing them - this lets you come up with really interesting grooves.

STROM's sampler integrates nicely with other apps:
Copy audio from any app, using AudioShare and AudioCopy/Paste. Mangle them with STROM's slice engine. Share your sliced samples with your friends! Copy them back to any other app for further processing.

STROM's full power is unleashed if you connect your Elektron Analog Rytm drum computer to your iPad (and buy the Rytm In-App Purchase Upgrade):

For one, you can easily transfer samples to your Rytm using MIDI Sample Dump Standard. STROM can also send all slices as separate files. For example, load a vocal phrase, quickly slice it up, and send the individual "ooohs" and "aaahs" as one-shots. Slices are automatically numbered.

But the real juice is in STROM's Rytm performance interface:

Designed to excel in the studio as well as on stage, STROM extends and augments your Analog Rytm.

Using the CTL-AL function, inspired by the legendary Machinedrum, you can tweak sounds on multiple tracks at once. For example, sweep the filter on all (or some) tracks. Or change the sample slot for all tracks (or less crazy, limit it to a few tracks of your choice). All sound and trig parameters, as well as track levels, are available to be tweaked with CTL-AL.

CTL-AL has UNDO, so you can instantly return to your previous drum kit settings.
You can also use CTL-AL to create parameter lock automation in your current pattern!

Intelligent Kit Randomizer:
It lets you squeeze the wildest sounds out of the Rytm. The Randomizer gives you detailed control over which tracks and parameters should be affected, and by how much. It isn't really "random", but uses your current Kit as the basis. You have intuitive and detailed control over whether to just shift the sound a little, or mangle everything completely insanely.

Then there's the Pattern Generator:
It's main deal is an intuitive interface for quickly creating rhythmic patterns.
Rhythms are programmed into the Rytm's sequencer instantly.
Leveraging the musical Euclidean algorithm, it generates cyclic patterns that are not random, but follow a logic which is perceived by most humans as actual groove. You have quick and detailed control over what exactly it should generate.
For example, it couldn't be easier to pop up an interesting closed/open hihat groove.
Or a kick / snare / tom-tom workout. Or a hand-clap break, just at the end of your loop.

In addition, there are special shift rotation tools which are super effective for creating syncopations and breaks.

There is no quicker, better and insaner way for live beat generation than the Rytm combined with STROM's Pattern Generator, period.

Finally, the Kit and Pattern Pasteboard:
This gives you multiple copy & paste slots for Kits and Patterns. You can quickly capture the current rhythm or sound inside one of STROM's four pasteboard slots, tweak everything wildly, and instantly pop the original data back to your drum machine. Incredibly powerful for playing out live.

With STROM, your Analog Rytm becomes supercharged.

(Rytm Upgrade is an In-App-Purchase. Elektron Analog Rytm is a hardware instrument which must be purchased separately. USB-Lightning Camera adapter is required for the MIDI connection)"

Computer Music Journals + Electronic & Computer Music

via this auction
"Computer Music Journal. Starting with Volume II, Number 2 (1978) and ending with Volume 8, Number 2 (1984). Also in the lot is a copy of Peter Manning's Electronic & Computer Music, 2nd Edition (1993). (There is No Reserve for this auction)

Here is what is included:

1. Electronic & Computer Music 2nd Edition, Peter Manning. The first edition was published in 1985 and was written as a history of electronic music. It is still a good read for anyone interested in where this music came from. The condition of the book is good. The front cover is slightly bent up on one corner and my sister (original owner) wrote her name on the inside cover... Other than that it is perfectly fine and readable and the picture inserts are all in great condition. It is a paperback and the chapter titles are:

* The Background to 1945
* Developments from 1945 to 1960
* Paris and Musique Concrèt
* Cologne and Elektronische Musik
* Milan and Elsewhere in Europe
* America
* New Horizons in Electronic Design
* The Voltage-Controlled Synthesizer
* The Electronic Repertory from 1960
* Works for Tape
* Live Electronic Music
* Rock and Pop Electronic Music
* The Digital Revolution
* The Birth of Computer Music
* New Horizons in Digital Technology
* The MIDI Synthesizer
* From Microcomputer to Music Supercomputer
* Conclusion

2. Early issues of the magazine Computer Music Journal. I bought these a few years back. For the most part they are very technically based and may be a hard read for some, although each issue does include record reviews and product reviews of hardware and software which are fun to read now. Besides some bumped corners and some wear marks all of the magazines are in good condition, with one exception, the cover of Volume 8, Number 1 is a little torn at the top and the corner is folded back, but everything on the inside is perfect! The issues included are:

NOISECOLLECTIVE Modular Synth Masterclass Workshop with Gino Robair

NOISECOLLECTIVE is having a modular synth masterclass workshop with Gino Robair. The event will be held at the Mothership club in Turin Italy. You can pick up tickets at NOISECOLLECTIVE here. The following are the details on the event, first in Italian, then English further below.

Verranno presi in esame concetti come primo piano / sottofondo, solista / supporto, controllo gestuale, e intenzione / non-intenzione.

SOUNDMIT 2023 - BIT MASKING REVOLUTION - KODAMO

video upload by SOUNDMIT

@Kodamo's strong presence at @SOUNDMIT has truly added a special touch, especially considering we've already had them with us in past editions. These folks from France are the masterminds behind Bit Masking, a new form of digital synthesis they first introduced in the Mask1 keyboard, showcased worldwide for the first time at Soundmit 2022. And among the goodies they've shared, there's also the plan to unveil a compact synth, probably featuring a mix of FM and Samples!

Published on Nov 13, 2012 by Armada Sonora

Googlish [original Spanish further below]:

"THIS VIDEO IS TEACHING. NOT intend to present as art WHAT SOUNDS HERE.

Korg iMS20 is an iPad app that aims to emulate the sound of classic Korg MS20 and add extra functionality as Kaosspad, a sequencer, a drum machine and a composer of songs based on patterns.

Korg Monotribe analog synthesizer is a ribbon (ribbon). At least for me, this little guy has proven to be a surprise as it is a powerful synthesizer with character, that does justice to those legendary analog synthesizers that several decades ago stopped producing Korg.

The aim of the video is to show how, through the application SyncKontrol, used an iPhone, you can sync the digital world (iMS20) with analog realm (Monotribe).

Following the setup of the video:

SYNC

iMS20 (iPad) is enslaved to SyncKontrol (iPhone) via WIST. This way we can, from the iPhone, give play / stop and manipulate tempo.
Monotribe is enslaved to SyncKontrol (iPhone) connecting Monotribe Sync-IN to the output of the iPhone, using a miniplug cord.
Thus, giving the SyncKontrol play from the iPhone, we can establish perfect synchrony between iMS20 and Monotribe, MIDI without.

Machinedrum UW CTR-AL tweak demo "Control" (Siesta Submarina)

YouTube via TrondC | July 22, 2010

"Pattern jam around the allmighty and highly experiment-friendly CTR-AL Machine in the Machinedrum UW. Shortly put, this feature lets me use one of the MD's 16 tracks and control all parameters of all the other 15 tracks at once! SO, say I change the pitch in the CTR-AL machine, the effect is like I was turning 15 pitch knobs (1 for each other machine) at once, in perfect sync. Now, this machine works by controlling the coresponding parameter for each machine. meaning that since different machines have different parameters placed at the same relative spot (say, control knob #2 can be Decay for bassdrum, but Tone for a clap sound etc), this means that you get instand sonic mayhem at the tunr of a knob. In order to make this sound good instead of chaotic, is to learn what parameters are in use. I'm nowhere near knowing everything the way I want, but I know enough about the different sounds in the machinedrum so I have a certain clue what is going to happen. I'll try and explain here, but really too much going on for me to remember, so don't expect to be able to re-create this on your MD ;)"
