KORG ARP 2600 M at Noisebug
video upload by NOISEBUG
https://www.noisebug.net/products/arp-2600-m
"THE MOST ICONIC SYNTH FOR THE MODERN MUSICIAN
The genuine ARP 2600 in a more convenient size.
The ARP 2600 is arguably the most iconic and recognizable synthesizer of all time. Having been used in countless records, film scores, TV shows and game soundtracks since its appearance from the 70’s through to today, the ARP 2600’s sound remains an essential part of the music world.
The new ARP 2600 M delivers the sound admired around the world , in a more compact and portable format and including added features that make it the ideal incarnation of this historic synth.
A LEGEND, REBORN
When the ARP 2600 FS was announced in January 2020, it quickly became a phenomenal success with musicians all over the world recognizing the faithfulness to the original ARP 2600.
The ARP 2600 M is around 60% the original size, making it lighter, more portable and easier to place and use in a studio. It integrates the same analog circuitry and components as the ARP 2600 FS, thus faithfully reproducing the characteristic ARP sound.
PROUDLY DESIGNED AND MADE IN JAPAN
The ARP 2600 M is built in Japan with the same care and extraordinary quality standard as the ARP 2600 FS, and uses the same analog components to accurately reproduce the sound and feel of the original. The Spring Reverb has been re-engineered and adapted to the new size body with the same lush effect.
With the intense focus on quality and a large amount of hand assembly, the ARP 2600 M is not a typical mass-produced instrument. Due to this boutique nature, manufacturing quantities each month will be inline with our commitment of delivering a truly prized investment.

Lunar - Ambient Noise 🎄 (Arp 2600 m // Waldorf M + Red Panda Particle 2 // Arturia Keystep Pro)
video upload by 2-Minute Warning
"For the last video of 2023, I really wanted to spotlight the raw sound of the amazin ARP 2600 M 🤩
So throughout the whole track, you'll only hear the sound coming directly from the ARP 2600 M without any external effects, though I did use its onboard spring reverb (+ a bit of EQ/comp where used for mixing purposes).
Contrary to my previous (which was the first) video featuring the ARP which was an uptempo track, no beats or kick here! Only the ARP and the Waldorf M (+ Particle granular delay).
The same track from the Keystep Pro is sequencing both synths.
As you can see, I use some patching in this one for the ARP:
- The VCF output is going through its preamp input to make the distorted sound you gradually hear (it's being played in parallel of the dry sound coming out from VCF output)
- I also used the LFO to modulate the filter and pulse width of oscillator 2
- I did did some patching as well, in order to play portamento with one of the ARP's oscillator (using the voltage processor "Lag Time")
* Hardware used *
// SYNTH:
- Korg ARP 2600 M (semi modular analog synth) - RAW sound
- Waldorf M (8-voice hybrid digital and analog wavetable) + Red Panda Particle v2 (digital granular delay)
// SEQUENCER:
- Arturia Keystep Pro"

Broadwave U2K6 Modular Synthesizer
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
"Up for Auction is my self built BroadWAVE u2K6 (Micro ARP 2600). It is a one-off unit made as a pre-production to an ARP 2600 clone that I have recently completed.
I have set a reserve price at £500 to cover the cost of the initial build and the auction will run to the end - I'm afraid offers will be ignored and returns are not accepted.
Please note that you will require a MIDI to CV converter to use this synth.
It's built into a Tolexed 19" 6U cabinet with strap handle... as yet, I have no idea how to pack this for the courier - don't be surprised it it turns up in a suitcase.
Almost all of the internal circuits are copied directly from the ARP 2600 - the exception being the VCF, LFO and Dual AR envelope generators which are direct copies from the ARP Odyssey.
What does it have that the 2600 doesn't? - A Master CV section (tune all VCO's at once) with 2 FM inputs and Glide, 3 Full 2600 VCO's with sync (sync circuit taken from the ARP Odyssey), and additional AR envelope generator and an LFO with square and sine outputs (tied to the S&H clock frequency), extra multiples.
What's missing? - The 2600 reverb/mixer section and additional FM inputs on the VCO's (sadly, space did not permit these)
The VCF is the 4035 "Moog Infringement" filter from the Odyssey MkII. There is no intrinsic difference between this and the original 4012 VCF from the early 2600 - just a difference in input/output levels... it sounds great : )"

ARP 2600 Owner's Manual - To PDF or Not to PDF
"The TimewARP 2600 Manual is free and full of information about our product and how to use it.
Even better, the TimewARP 2600 Manual contains an entire chapter on audio synthesis basics written by Jim Michmerhuizen, the author of the original ARP 2600 Manual and Founder and Director of the Boston School of Electronic Music.
Essential reading for anyone interested in the vocabulary and methods of classical analog synthesis."
Update: Originally this post pointed to a pdf download of the manual I found on the web. It was brought to my attention that the author Jim Michmerhuizen was still selling the manual in hard copy. I updated the link to his site instead. I did a search for the manual and found a copy of the pdf immediately. I'm curious what others think of scanning manuals and making them available for download in general. Good mojo or bad mojo?
Update 2: via Sam Ecoff on AH: "I thought I'd weigh in on this as I own two different versions of the ARP 2600 manual. I own the original Tonus version, which I believe was authored mostly by David Friend (somebody please correct me if I'm mistaken) and the later ARP version written by Jim. While both are interesting reads from a historical point of view, they both share the same general weakness in my point of view: unless you already have a solid understanding of modular synthesis, they are a tough nut to crack for a newbie. For those that are interested, I put up a scan of my copy of the Tonus version (which is out of print, btw) here: link."
Also check out Sam Ecoff's Electronic Music Books based primarily on the ARP 2600, also posted here.
Update 3 via loren in the comments of this post: "The ethics of copywrite aside, I thought it should be pointed out that you can download a legit free pdf version of the Arp 2600 manual at the Way Out Ware's website, which you can find here. From my understanding after talking to Jim and the guys at WOW a couple NAMMs back that he gave them permission to use the original manual for their software version."
Update 4: You can find the Boston School of Electronic Music website here. Based on the copyright date of 2015 - 2016, I'm guessing it launched in 2015. If anyone knows otherwise, feel free to leave a comment.

Rare ARP 2600 Blue Marvin Jam (w/ Cameron Graves)
video upload by Anthony Marinelli Music
"It's always fun to perform with my good friend Cameron Graves aka "The Planetary Prince". I was introduced to Cameron and his brother Taylor Graves in 2008 by Jada Pinkett Smith when we co-scored her film, The Human Contract. We've remained friends and musical brothers ever since. We hope you enjoy this music that we created right before the cameras started rolling . We intend to make more of these synth jam videos in the near future.
We're playing the solos on an extremely rare ARP 2600 "Blue Marvin" which was a prototype for the Tonus ARP 2600 that actually went into production. The rest of the synths include a later model gray faced ARP 2600, an orange faced ARP 2600, the Korg ARP 2600 M, Moog Minimoog, Korg MS-20 and ARP Omni String Synthesizer. The drums are performed by my engineer Ben Rachlis on a vintage LinnDrum the he is processing through The OTO Biscut, Bim, Bam and Boom.
Please remember to like and subscribe to these videos. It would mean a lot to me and my dedicated and enthusiastic crew. Thank you to all for your support and inspiring comments!

Arp 2600 + 3604P Analog Synthesizer restored by RL Music
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
via this auction
via the seller: "This one's as MINT as it gets, unless you create a time machine! This is the lowest price I can offer.
I bought this as a collectors grade piece, but I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it. It's barely be used & sounds better then anything you've ever heard. There is 1 tiny flaw in the case, where it was bumped by another synth. The restoration work alone cost $4272.70USD. I'm including the power switcher from UK to USA voltage & the manuals.
Remarks: Although these are not rare by some vintage synth standards, finding an Arp 2600 in anything approaching even good condition is a real challenge in 2014. This is why we invest such a lot of time, resources and money into getting them restored to the highest possible level that can be achieved – a FULL cosmetic and operational project restoration!
This Arp 2600 comes with a 3604P keyboard controller, original Arp power cable, keyboard-to-synth cable, and runs EU 220V. The actual version is a 2600P V3.0, manufactured between 1972 to 1974.
Original Arp Filter for this model (un-encapsulated) 4072
VCOs are original (encapsulated) Arp 4027-1
VCA is (encapsulated) 4019
The restoration work we invest into the Arp 2600 is extensive (what we term Total Restoration). The work includes re-Tolexing the cabinets & lids, stripping the panels to bare metal and having them professionally repainted and screen-printed. We have all the sliders and sockets deep cleaned and the whole synth is electronically restored including the a PSU rebuild/re-cap etc. In addition, we have fitted a brand new 17 inch Acutronics Reverb Tank, and a full set of brand new slider caps.
This RL Music prepared Arp 2600 is over 40 years old, and is in ‘as-new’ condition. On average we spend around £2800 GBP just in restoration costs for these models (synth & keys), so there is no equivalent in terms of quality offered by any person, or business, in the world. If you have been looking to own the ‘perfect’ Arp 2600 then look no further. These highly pro-restored examples are all sold with a full 6 months warranty."

Steve Fisk's 1976 ARP 2600 with 3620 Keyboard SN 0732 ?
Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.
You can find a demo by Steve Fisk at the 2011 PNW SynthFest demoing his ARP 2600 posted here (see this post for additional videos of the event). P.S. If you aren't familiar with Steve Fisk, see this Wikipedia article. His Yamaha CS60 went up for sale back in 2013. According to this auction by Salamander Labs, his 2600 is up for sale. I have no way of verifying, so do your due diligence if you are interested. Note in the video linked above there is a green monkey sticker on the front panel. It's missing from this ARP 2600 but you can see a slight discoloration where it would have been. As always, who knows...
Details via the listing:
"Ok, this is it. An Arp 2600 with keyboard used extensively as a live and studio instrument by Steve Fisk, whose comments and the unit’s pedigree are below. This instrument has been used on the road internationally, in studio, and live performance settings, and as a result has some cosmetic scratches. The power supply caps, speaker amp driver transistors, key bushings, and a few key springs have been replaced…and the shittyist plug ever used for a keyboard has been replaced as noted below….otherwise it is original. It is fully discrete, and the circuit boards are NOT epoxied so it can be serviced. A full factory calibration was completed by Gemma at Sound Audio Repair in Olympia, Wa…"
"From Steve Fisk;
My 2600 is the first synth you see on the Arp 2600 Wikipedia page. I am the original owner. I bought the synthesizer in 1976. It was my primary instrument for years. I wrote and performed several noisy live pieces with the ARP. It was also my “jam” instrument for many improvs in Olympia and Seattle in the late 70’s. It was a key part of my live setup for Pell Mell, Pigeonhed, Customer Service, and Tiny Holes. It is also featured in much of my studio work with Pell Mell, Soundgarden, Pigeonhed, Reggie Watts, Unwound, Some Velvet Sidewalk and Seacats. The beast was my goto box for 808 kick drums(see Soundgarden’s “Spoonman” remix). It also did duty on several film soundtracks and corporate work. In 1995 the Jones plug that connected the keyboard to the main frame was replaced with a robust milspec connector by Omega Intl, a vintage synth service run by an ex roadie from the Moody Blues. It is in excellent working order despite some well earned cosmetic blemishes. I’m going to miss the spring reverb, a great resource for sound effects."

ARP 2600 vs Synovatron CV tools eurorack module
YouTube Uploaded by DJjondent on Apr 8, 2012
"This is a comparison between the CV tools Eurorack module by Synovatron
and the Voltage processor of the old ARP 2600 synth.
The ARP 2600 voltage processors are often forgotten & neglected.
while Not as sexy as its VCOs or filters they are still very important.
I really like the The CV tools Eurorack module as it emulates all of these functions
and is so easy to operate.
The ARPs 2600 voltage processors are located between the noise generator and the S/H module.
There are 7 inputs in total.
This module contains three separate types of processor:
1. lag processors.
2. mixing processors
3.inverting processors.
-----------------------------------------------------
Lets start by comparing the 1st (top) voltage processor on the ARP 2600
with the CV tools module.

KORG ARP ODYSSEY FS KIT Incoming

In 2015, ARP’s history was thrust into the spotlight with the revival of the ARP Odyssey. Synth fans around the world were ecstatic–authentic reissues of some of the most iconic and legendary ARP synthesizers would finally be revealed. From the ARP ODYSSEY FS with its full-size keyboard, to the long awaited ARP 2600 FS and ARP 2600 M, ARP synths once again stood at the forefront of the modern music scene.
Now, with the release of the ARP ODYSSEY FS Kit, musicians are empowered to take the ARP legacy into their own hands.
Staying true to the ARP Odyssey FS, the kit uses the exact analog circuitry, preserving the original warm and rich sounds we’ve all grown to love. The kit also features all the original specs of the Rev. 3 model with a full-size keyboard and a black panel design with orange lettering. And to facilitate assembly of the Odyssey, a pictorial guide is included; no technical knowledge or soldering is needed.

Enjoy ✨ (Arp2600m + H9 + Pill Pedal // Arturia Keystep Pro v2.5 // Moog Minitaur // MFB Tanzbar)
video upload by 2-Minute Warning
"This is my first video featuring the Korg ARP 2600 M, one of my dream synth! (might surely be because of the heavy use of this synth by artists from the Mute label 😄)
For this first jam, I used the ARP in paraphonic mode: Track 3 of the Keystep Pro is sequencing the main riff played by the ARP, and Track 4 is sending CV to the ARP's oscillator 3, thus playing a melody other the main riff.
At the beginning you hear the ARP nearly dry, and I quickly fade in its beautiful integrated spring reverb and the Eventide's H9 Vintage Delay.
I also found a cool trick to temporarily mimic a reverse effect on the sequence played by the ARP, by switching from the ADSR envelope to the AR envelope (where I added more Attack). I used this a couple of times to make some real time breaks 😉
The drums are being played by my mighty analog drum machine: the MFB Tanzbar, however sequenced by the Keystep Pro's Track 1 (Drum track) for this time. The Tanzbar's kick is triggering the Pill Pedal, which is ducking the ARP!
The bass is from the Moog Minitaur (sequenced by the KSP's Track 2).
I also updated my KSP to v2.5 which adds some handy new features, like the "Transpose Latch", which I've been waiting for a long time 🥰 Hence, I can use my left hand to transpose the sequences and my right hand to move faders etc. 🤘
* Hardware used *
// SYNTH:
- Korg ARP 2600 M (semi modular analog synth) + Eventide H9 (Vintage delay) + Pill (ducking pedal, triggered by the kick from the Tanzbar)
//BASS
- Moog Minitaur (analog bass synth)
// DRUMS:
- MFB Tanzbär (analog drum machine)
// SEQUENCER:
- Arturia Keystep Pro, with the latest 2.5 update (introducing "transpose latch", program change etc.)
