Kawai K5000 — The Legendary Additive Synthesizer From The 90s
video upload by RetroSound
"Welcome to this demo of the legendary Kawai K5000 — one of the most advanced and unique digital synthesizers of the 1990s.
Released by Kawai Musical Instruments in 1996, the K5000 series became famous for bringing true additive synthesis into a hardware synthesizer with an incredibly deep sound engine and expressive realtime control.
Unlike traditional subtractive synths, the K5000 builds sounds from up to 128 individual harmonics, allowing for evolving textures, shimmering pads, vocal-like formants, metallic atmospheres, and complex cinematic soundscapes that still sound futuristic today.
One of its most iconic features is the powerful formant filter, capable of creating animated spectral movement and organic vocal-style timbres rarely heard in hardware synthesizers.
The K5000 was available in several versions including the K5000S, K5000R, and K5000W workstation, and over the years it has gained cult status among ambient artists, soundtrack composers, experimental musicians, and lovers of deep digital synthesis.
In this video you’ll hear original patches, evolving additive textures, classic 90s digital atmospheres and some factory demo and promotion tracks made the K5000 one of the most underrated synthesizers ever created.
I used the K5000 in the years 1998 - 2010."

Osmose Eagan vs. CE comparison – Superbooth 2026
video upload by Let's Play Synths
"So I own the original Osmose – bought it used for slightly over 1000 € – and while it's fantastic, sounds very cinematic, dark (see this video [below] • 35 Expressive-E Osmose Presets – Let's Pla... ) and is nothing like any of my other synths … other than does have some problems. Nearly impossible to connect via MPE (especially over a single USB cable), very obscure settings and a sound engine that you need an engineer's degree to even start to understand. So when the CE was announced, I had a question or two π

You Only Think Vintage Synths Sound Better
video upload by Noir Et Blanc Vie
"So I was playing my Waldorfs, just making some music and looking for inspiration, and a thought came to me... Am I only using my Waldorf XT because I 'like it' not because it's actually better in anyway? While there are so many videos comparing synths online, I keep wondering....WHY? Like, what's the actual goal with this. I personally wonder if there's psychology behind why some can't just move forward and make sound instead of thinking 'I wonder if X makes sounds like Y' when the shortest answer would easily be 'why not just get the X?'. When I think about music I'm often confused by the idea of all this... so maybe ask yourself this.... 'What's your goal'. When you see life as only one constant stream, you cannot go back, only forward, I think so many of the choices I make to create come from that. Rather than compare, rather than spend my time purchasing, why not be content, why not just create....? A question for you today."

Eternal Research Demon Box
Summon the sounds of electromagnetic oddities with Demon Box from Eternal Research, an innovative instrument that condenses the practice of using EMF for audio and control signals in a unified device. At the top surface of the Demon Box's triangular enclosure, a literal platform for audio experimentation awaits. Here, three channels of EMF inductor pickups are arranged in a nested spiral formation, which can be used to create unique tones and control signals by interacting with any object that produces EMF near the inductors. Power tools, FM radios, eBows, tuning forks, and other personal electronics become diverse sources for synthesizing tones, controlling modular synths, and even producing MIDI signals. Turning the inaudible waves of ambient and ubiquitous electro-ephemera into creative signal sources, the Demon Box offers a deep well of musical meaning-making waiting to be discovered.

Korg Multi/Poly 50 Dark Noisy Atmospheric Presets Sound Demo
video upload by Anton Anru
"πͺ️ Industrial Reverie is a collection of 50 dark presets for Korg multi/poly.
The bank consists of 10 arps, 10 basses, 10 drones, 10 synths and 10 pads. The patches cover a wide range of tones: huge and thick, clean and noisy, long and short, aggressive and atmospheric.
π The soundset emphasizes adjustable tone dynamics, allowing the presets to be used in a wide variety of genres. They are suitable for ambient, industrial, drum and bass, classic dubstep, jungle, cinematic, IDM, and others. The sounds were inspired by industrialization space and desert.
π¦ The download link: https://antonanru.sellfy.store/p/mult...
π️ All presets have Velocity, ModWheel, X/Y Pad, and Macros assignments.
Velocity controls volume and filter.
ModWheel adds expression, it makes the sound brighter or adds vibrato.
4 Macros control the level of the Timbre, Movement Depth, Noise Level, Drive and other parameters.
X/Y Pad changes tone, adds noise or distortion, and alters other parameters.

Synth post-rock and ambient | Three songs with delay and reverb
video upload by Jay Hosking
"Please support my work on Patreon: / jayhosking
Three different songs focusing on the inspiration of delay and reverb.
MAS Distribution sent over the GFI Solis Ventus, a delay and reverb pedal, for me to try for free. Take that for what you will.
I've already used the Solis Ventus in other video here, so there was no particular need to create a video focused on it. However, I usually explore new gear by just placing it on the table and seeing what comes out. I thought maybe nothing would come of it, or maybe I'd make a single song. In the end, I kept writing more and more with it, all in different styles and genres. The reverbs in the Solis Ventus are fine, but there's some real weirdness and magic in the delays, and they kept delighting and surprising me. In the end, I decided to share three songs with you from these explorations, although there's some more on my Patreon.
00:00 - Post-rock with synths instead of guitar
03:52 - Pure ambient with Pluto
06:17 - Rock starting with L1
Ultimately, what I hope comes through is that effects aren't something simply to colour or smooth over a sound; effects can be the very thing that inspires the songwriting process. That's what happened in all of these instances, and more.
Gear used:
Arturia Astrolab 37 (keys)
GFI Solis Ventus (delay and reverb)
Squier Bass VI (bass-guitar hybrid)
Line 6 Pod Express Bass (for bass amp sim)
Moog Subsequent 37 (mono synth melody)
Novation AFX Station (mono synth lead)
Modern Sounds Pluto (mini euro synth sandbox)
Donner L1 (mono synth random arp)
Godin Session Custom '59 (guitar)
Strymon Iridium (for guitar amp sim)
Union Tone & Transistor Lab (compressor for guitar)
Electro-Voice RE-20 (vocal mic)
Probably more I'm forgetting
Multi-tracked, mixed in the box (except the Pluto song, which was live to stereo out, with EQ, compression, and limiting on the master).

Novation Peak Trance & Techno | Real Songs, No Talking
video upload by STEHRΓON
"My favorite Novation Peak sounds in real song clips from my tracks.
After six months with the Peak, it has become one of the core synths in my setup — for arps, pads, leads, basses and atmospheric layers.
The clips move through melodic techno, trance, synthpop and darkwave, with most parts built around strong melodic lines — an area where the Peak works extremely well.
No talking, just sound.
Not sponsored.
Recorded dawless. No extra FX. No edits."
Superbooth 2026 Highlights | Voltage Labs
video upload by Voltage Labs
"This year at Superbooth, we found some seriously inspiring instruments - here are a few of our highlights. Soma showed one of the most forward-thinking instruments we came across, with a truly unique interface. Richie Hawtin and Erica Synths introduced the latest Bullfrog edition: Drums.
Buchla also caught our attention with Ziggy a compact new take on their iconic West Coast sound.
Polyend is aiming high with their new analog-digital hybrid drum machine, possibly their most ambitious project yet. And one of the most fascinating discoveries for us was Tembo: a wooden drum synthesizer that looks beautiful and sounds unlike anything else.
Interesting bits and pieces:

JP-8000 vs Nord Lead A1 vs Access Virus B — Which One Do You ACTUALLY Need?
video upload by Marc Renton
"The elephant in the room: Roland JP-8000, Clavia Nord Lead A1, and Access Virus B: Three legendary hardware synths from the late 90s/2000s that still hold up today. But which one is worth your money in 2026?
In this video, I go hands-on with all three machines from my studio, playing patches, presets, and sounds I programmed myself. No script, no BS — just honest thoughts after owning these synths for up to 21 years.
What you'll learn:
JP-8000: SuperSaw magic, but what are the real limitations of the filter?
Nord Lead A1: Why it's my go-to synth — and why the Moog filter is a game changer
Access Virus B: The all-in-one machine with 24-voice polyphony... and where it hits a wall
Should you buy hardware or use emulations? (honest take)
These are timeless machines. This knowledge will be valid in 10 or 20 years. Maybe some plugins won't exist by then — but these synths will.

Yamaha CS-5 - dawless jam
video upload by Telantas Changxo
"I got the most wonderful birthday present: a Yamaha CS-5 analogue synthesizer (1979-1982). This video shows my first few minutes with it in a completely unrehearsed, improvised jam accompanied only by a fixed drone provided by a Behringer Crave (during the first minute I also had a repeating sequence played by another Crave).
Martin Gore's first synthesizer was a CS-5. Aphex Twin also used one. But what do I care? I only want to know how it sounds and how it handles. And my first impression is this: the synth is amazing! It has an extremely beautiful, musical tone, and the panel couldn't be more intuitive or immediate. The synth-action keybaord is superb. It is a simple machine: a single-oscillator, monophonic synthesizer with only one envelope generator. However, the controls available are very flexible and there are a few really neat and unique features (I will show some of those in subsequent videos).
The similarity of the white-over-black design in the Yamaha CS-5, CS-10, CS-15 and CS-30 to the Korg MS-10 and MS-20 is not coincidental. These were head-on competitors in production during 1977-1982. In fact, the first synths to sport it were Yamaha's: the CS-10 and CS-30, both released during 1977 (one year before the MS-10 and MS_20). This sober look was a break form the wooden cheeks and coloured buttons of earlier Japanese and American synthesizers (including Yamaha's own CS-80, in production during the same period).
In terms of playability and sonic character, I think it is fair to say that the Yamaha CS-5/10/15/30 occupy a space somewhere between a Minimoog, which sounds great in almost any setting, and an MS-20, which enourages experimentation. However, my interactions with my CS-5 so far indicate that this is a simplification. It has its own character warm, precise, musical. I am really loving it so far.
ABOUT THIS CHANNEL:
Telantas Changxo is the musical side project of quantum physicist Jorge Quintanilla. It features DAWless music made using hardware synthesizers, ranging widely from experimental drone pieces to original synth-pop songs."

Sequential Prophet 5 - Synth Plugins still can’t do this?
video upload by Tenalock Audio
"There's something about the Sequential Prophet-5 that feels alive. The slight movement in the oscillators, the warmth in the chords, the way even simple patches seem to carry emotion without needing much processing.
Plugins have come so far and modern analog synthesizers have gone backwards without so much of their own character as they used to have.
I spent some time exploring softer pads, worn-out bass tones, drifting analog textures and a few more cinematic sounds in this session. Some patches lean into that classic late-70s / early-80s character, while others feel surprisingly modern.
It's easy to understand why the Prophet-5 became such an important synthesizer. A lot of newer synths can sound bigger or cleaner, but this has a character that sits differently in a mix.
Headphones recommended for this one."

BEAT GEMS - the new book on drum machines...
video upload by Bjooks
"Soon to launch on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...
BEAT GEMS is a premium hardcover book from Bjooks that explores this remarkable history through rare and iconic machines, vivid photography, artist stories, technical insight, and the people who turned boxes of circuits into culture. The book explores more than six decades of electronic music history through the drum machines that changed the way music is made, recorded, and performed.
An inspiring and visually rich book for anyone interested in music technology, design, rhythm, and recording culture, this comprehensive work follows the evolution of drum machines from early experiments and preset rhythm companions to programmable icons, studio powerhouses, genre-defining classics, and the hardware revival of recent decades. The project structure already maps that story across eight major stages – from invention and standardization to creative misuse, programmability, studio control, genre definition, and rebirth.
The book presents comprehensive research, writing, editing, photography, and visual development by author Oli Freke and editor Kim BjΓΈrn.

Modal Electronics Introduces Element One
video upload by Davide Puxeddu
"Put on your headphones π§. This is a pure, no-talking sound demo of the brand new Modal Electronics ELEMENT ONE synthesizer, an 8-voice virtual analog powerhouse.
I had the incredible honor of participating in the development and sound design of the Element One (created alongside the Hartmann Design team). In this video, I am jamming with the factory presets—which are actually the very patches I designed for this synth! I’m exploring random sounds, tweaking them on the fly to show you the true sonic potential of its 64 oscillators, morphable filters, and stereo FX. Everything is played live using the 37-key aftertouch keyboard and 4-axis joystick."

THE SYNTH FOR PEOPLE WHO JUST WANT TO PLAY
You’re a musician, not a computer programmer. Whether you’re a keyboard player who wants to fire up a searing solo, a guitarist looking for that perfect atmospheric pad, a drummer wanting to trigger massive electronic textures, or a vocalist needing a lush harmonic bed, you shouldn’t have to learn “synth science” just to get a great sound. Meet ELEMENT One—the 8-voice virtual-analog synthesizer designed to feel like an instrument, not a science project.
