Using the Circuit Mono Station as a glithcy groove box
video upload by Bay Mud
"It's been a while since I brought out the Novation Circuit Rhythm for a jam, but I wanted to see if a bit of patch flipping abuse could make it a pseude-groove box. Added the Zoom MS-70CDR and Templo Devices Pocket Compressor for good measure!"

Oberheim OB-X8 Videos by Adam Borseti
video uploads by Adam Borseti
The above playlist features a handful of Oberheim OB-X8 videos by Adam Borseti. Note the first few videos feature the custom OB-Xa style overlay (link below), followed by the stock OB-X style panel.
Playlist:
1. First Day of Summer! (Oberheim OB-X8)
Here's a fun little spur-of-the-moment jam over a song I've been working on. This is the direction I want the song to go in, but I'm probably going to re-record some of it. We'll see. You like the 80s style OB-Xa/OB-8 blue pin stripes for the OB-X8? I do to! They're made of semi-rigid plastic and can be applied or removed in less than 2 minutes with no adhesive. It's really cool to be able to switch between the late 70s OB-X look and the super-1980s OB-Xa and OB-8 look.2. Random Improv Jam
Get yours here https://www.synthoverlays.com/product...
3. Going places in DOUBLE MODE
Using the SEM filters in lowpass for the bottom layer and a delicious Notch filter on the upper layer pad.4. OB-X8 - Left Hand Bass Exercises
Laying down bass lines thick and hard with lefty, following the lead of whatever chord righty is holding down. This was all improvised so forgive any chord meandering and weird transitions, mistakes and the like. Is what it is.5. "Approaching Chaos" - Oberheim OB-X8
All sounds made with the Oberheim OB-X8 run through a Zoom MS-70CDR, with the drums from my Roland TR-626. Enjoy6. Oberheim OB-X8 - Cinematic improvisation & Double Mode patch
Consider this some filler while I'm working on my next actual song. I'm almost done!7. "Reflections" - Oberheim OB-X8
A new original tune of mine, the first in a good long while! Less time and more stress have resulted in less creativity haha, but I'm trying over here. :)8. The Camera Eye - Oberheim OB-X8
I mean, it's THAT sound......

Polaris Jam // MicroFreak v5 // MS-70
video upload by Waveformer
"It's been a long time since I jammed with my MicroFreak, and it's been like hanging out with an old friend, where you find you're immediately on the same wavelength. In this jam, I explore the wonderful Cloud Grains oscillator that is new with MicroFreak firmware version 5.0. I'm treating the MicroFreak and the Zoom MS-70CDR effect pedal as one integrated instrument, and the patches on each of the boxes are designed as if it is one singe patch.
The custom sample loaded into the Cloud grains oscillator morphs between different timbres with metallic overtones and distortion which are tamed by the lowpass filter in the MicroFreak.
Key/Arp mode is set to Random, which is a new feature in Firmware 5, where each new note played generates a random value that can be used for modulation. In this patch, this random value is set to modulate the Sample Grain Start Position through the Wave parameter. The result is that each note played has a different timbre, and that the timbre is constantly changing. This same random value also modulates Cutoff slightly, to further vary the timbre. And it modulates the Amp Envelope Decay/Release Time, for varying note lengths, and finally the Cyclic Envelope Fall Time, which varies the shape of the looping envelope.
The Cyclic Envelope is looping and set to modulate Filter Cutoff. This introduces a rapid rhythmic / wobbling effect. The LFO is set up to modulate the Cyclic Envelope Rise Time, in effect varying the attack portion of this wobbling effect between sharp and soft.
Some parameters that can be interesting to play with on the MicroFreak as the arpeggiator plays are Filter Cutoff and Resonance, Cyclic Envelope Amount, and Glide.
The effect patch on the Zoom MS-70CDR is Bass Ensemble into LO-FI Delay into Stereo Delay into HD Reverb into Exciter. The LO-FI Delay Mix is all the way down at the beginning of the jam, and introduced after about 4 and a half minutes.
The video contains further patch and jam notes as text overlays.

Dreadbox Nymphes, Oxi One, bluebox, Zoom MS-70CDR
video upload by Waveformer
"My first jam with the Dreadbox Nymphes polyphonic analog synth, together with the Oxi One sequencer, the bluebox mixer/recorder and the Zoom MS-70CDR effect pedal. Jam and patch notes are included as text overlays in the video. All patches and project files are available for download with link in the video description.
The custom patch on the Nymphes uses a triangle oscillator with a dash of white noise. The velocity is set to modulate the filter envelope decay and the filter amount. And an LFO with some delay/fade in modulates pitch, creating a vibrato effect on longer notes. The LFO rate is set to key tracking, so higher notes have a faster rate.
The Nymphes has complete MIDI CC support for all parameters, and the Oxi One sequencer sends CC messages to vary the filter cutoff and the decay time for the amp and the filter envelopes on a per-step basis.
The Zoom MS70-CDR adds a bit of chorus, autopan and autopan delay, widening the stereo image from the Nymphes' mono output. For some parts of the jam, I turn on a Bass Octave effect that helps fatten the sound.
A big thank you to Dreadbox who sent me the Nymphes to play with.
The audio is recorded to SD card on a bluebox recorder/mixer and normalized in Audacity. Video is recorded on a Canon EOS M50 mk2 with the included EF-M 15-45mm lens. Audio and video is synchronized in DaVinci Resolve 18 (free version).
The Nymphes patch, Oxi One sequence and bluebox project settings can be downloaded from here:
http://www.waveformer.net/files/jams/...
The Zoom MS-70CDR patch is included below. To load a patch into the MS-70, connect your MS-70 to your computer using a USB cable, go to https://g200kg.github.io/zoom-ms-util..., right-click an available patch slot, select "Import Patch from text", and paste in this text.

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #129: Soulsby Atmegatron - Song 1
video upload by Christian's Sonic Spaces
"This is the first song with the Atmegatron. It is a monophonic 8-bit synthesizer based on an Atmel 328P processor. The open source concept allows to install alternative firmware versions that increases the sound possibilities. This song used the alternative firmware Strings.
I used for the recording the following FX chain:
Atmegatron - Zoom MS-70CDR - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated
The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track."

Oxi One, Töörö, Bluebox, MS70 - Sequenced Ambient
video upload by Waveformer
"This sequenced ambient jam features the OXI ONE sequencer, the Töörö wavetable synth, the Bluebox and three MS-70CDRs. It is inspired by @s1gns0fl1fe's Space Ambient Tutorial, but using a hardware synth, effects and a sequencer instead of software synths, software effects and a DAW.
The audio is recorded to SD card on a Bluebox recorder/mixer and normalized in Audacity. Video is recorded on a Canon EOS M50 mk2 with the included EF-M 15-45mm lens. Audio and video is synchronized in DaVinci Resolve 17.
Audio connections:
- Töörö - Output 1 - Zoom MS-70CDR - Bluebox
- Töörö - Output 2 - Zoom MS-70CDR - Bluebox
- Töörö - Output 3 - Bluebox
- Töörö - Main Output Right - Zoom MS-70CDR - Bluebox
MIDI Connections:

"This is the first song with the SammichSID. It was designed to be a streamlined, compact version of the MIDIbox SID synthesizer DIY kit. Designed around two SID chips, it is two-voice multitimbral with a total of six oscillators.
I used for the recording the following FX chain:
SammichSID - Zoom MS-70CDR - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2.

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #125: Arturia MicroFreak - Song 3
video upload by Christian's Sonic Spaces
"This is the third song with the MicroFreak. It's a monophonic/paraphonic synthesizer with a digital oscillator section containing 12 different algorithms and an analog filter.
I used for the recording the following FX chain:
MicroFreak - Zoom MS-70CDR - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2. Depending on the recorded track some FX are deactivated
The signal went through a Presonus StudioLive 16.0.2 into the PC via USB for recording. To create the complete song I recorded consecutively several stereo tracks. The final song was then mastered with a bit EQ and compression on some tracks and some limiting on the master track.
Well, I decided to go back to the basics, but at the same time make something useful for the synth community and do a kind of competition (I like competitions;-). What's my best synth for ambient music :-)"

Best Ambient Synth Shootout #124: Wersi MK1 - Song 3
video upload by Christian's Sonic Spaces
"This is the third song with the Wersi MK1. It's a 12 voice synthesizer from 1986 using a kind of additiv synthesis based on complex volume and pitch envelopes for up to 32 digitally generated harmonic's. In addition it has a single analog filter (in my version it's an SSM2045 filter chip) for all voices (paraphonic use).
I used for the recording the following FX chain: MK1 - Pigtronix Envelop Phaser - Zoom MS-70CDR - Pigtronix Echolution 2 Deluxe - GFI System Specular Reverb 2.

Berlin School / Ambient jam with Bassline, Töörö, OXI ONE and friends
video upload by Waveformer
"Here's a live Ambient Berlin School jam with Bassline from Erica Synths, the Töörö synth from Fred's Lab, the OXI ONE sequencer, Source Audio Collider and Zoom MS-70CDR effects, and the Bluebox mixer/recorder.
The Bassline starts off with a very basic sawtooth-based bassline, which gets dirtier during the jam. The Töörö joins in with two melodic themes, a secondary bass pattern and a pad with lots of delay and reverb from the Collider and the Bluebox (clouds reverb algorithm).
The audio is recorded to SD card on 1010music's Bluebox mixer/recorder and normalized in Audacity. Video is recorded on a Canon EOS M50 mk2 with the included EF-M 15-45mm lens. Audio and video is synchronized in DaVinci Resolve 17."

Sinevibes Odds oscillator on Korg NTS-1, Arturia MicroFreak, Zoom MS-70CDR - Oddity
video upload by Waveformer
"Here's a jam using the new Odds oscillator for NTS-1 from Sinevibes, together with the Arturia MicroFreak and the Zoom MS-70CDR. The Odds oscillator is a "stochastic control synthesis plugin", which translates into lots of cool oscillator models that can be modulated, transposed and triggered with variable probability. The video contains patch notes throughout the jam.
My music on Bandcamp: http://waveformer42.bandcamp.com/
The NTS-1 receives notes from the MicroFreak via MIDI, and also has the arpeggiator turned on, so it plays arpeggiated notes based on the incoming MIDI notes from the MicroFreak. The Odds oscillator plays fifths with random probability, octave shifts and parameter modulation.
The audio is recorded to SD card on Zoon R-16 mixer/recorder and normalized in Audacity. Video is recorded on a Canon EOS M50 mk2 with the included EF-M 15-45mm lens. Audio and video is synchronized in DaVinci Resolve 17.
Gear used:
- Korg NTS-1 with Sinevibes Odds oscillator
- Arturia MicroFreak
- Zoom MS-70CDR
Audio connections:
- Microfreak - Zoom MS70-CDR - NTS-1
MIDI connections:
- MicroFreak MIDI out - NTS-1 MIDI in"
