Yamaha TX-802 Digital FM Synthesizer
video upload by Bata
"Quick noodle on a Yamaha TX-802 rackmount synth from the 80s. This is the rack version of the DX-7 mkII. The synth is multitimbral with separate outputs. This uses 2 factory patches that have not been modified. Tracked through a compressor and some reverb and delay has been added."

Landscape Noon 1 Year Review
video upload by Bata
"It's been a little over a year of using the Landscape Fm Noon so I figured I would do a review video. There ends up being not that much reviewing done. I just show how I've been using it lately. It's very hard to remember what does what on this thing. Overall I rate the Noon at like a 1/10 or 8/10 depending on what type of synthesist you are. If the parameters for each channel were able to be CV controlled I would rate it a 9/10. It's very fun but challenging and frustrating at times. I view it as equal parts puzzle, game, and instrument. The passive nature of the machine means that you either need to use a lot of mixer/audio interface channels for the separate outs or deal with the signal robbing and channel bleed that comes with the passive mixing to main outs on the unit. As for the price of the unit I think it's somewhat overpriced as you end up needing a lot of other gear to fully use the thing. You can use it with just a 9V battery or basic CV sequencer but it really shines when used with a considerable amount of other equipment. I wouldn't recommend this to synth beginners or people who are sensitive to abrasive sounds but someone with an open mind for electronic experimentation might find it very fulfilling. Thanks for reading/watching!
Other gear used -
Akai MPC X
Cre8audio East Beast
Cre8audio West Pest
Landscape AllFlesh touch pads

"Nothing new to post tonight except a short so posting this old video which I never posted due to a missing Mono/Poly part. I have a few videos that will be coming in the next couple days that are all pretty good though so watch out for those!"

Moog Source Magic
video upload by Bata
"Patch on a Moog Source with assistance from Synthesizers.com 106 Oscillator. Patch makes use of a couple strange bugs my Source has. Glide makes the pitch drop very low at a certain amount and lfo rate is effected by the buttons when it's at higher rates."

♫ Jamming With a Bunch of Synths ♫ ----- (79)
video upload by Bata
"This jam is a little weird. My phone was on low battery which made the video slightly glitchy. I was a bit distracted during this recording so it's maybe a bit more boring than usual. There is also a couple mysterious audio drop outs near the end of the video. I didn't notice these prior to uploading so it's possible something went wrong when combining the audio and video files or something.

East Beast Patching Tip (Filter Pinging)
video upload by Bata
"Showing how you can get some nice plucky sounds out of the cre8audio East Beast. The unit crashes on me later in the video and I'm unsure what caused/causes this bug (possibly something to do with changing the clock source while the sequencer is running). I will probably link this video to cre8audio as this isn't the first time this kind of settings lock up has happened to me."
East Beast Patching Tip #2
video upload by Bata
"Showing how you can get a different flavor of modulation on the cre8audio East Beast by filtering the pitch CV and modulating the filter with an LFO. I also show at the end of the video how to lock up the mode settings on the East Beast with the external clock in."

Landscape Noon - Dual
video upload by Bata
"Using a Make Noise 0-CTRL to sequence/modulate channel 2 (Dual) on the Landscape Noon.
This is a patch for 1 voice on the Landscape Noon. Some other voices might be influencing the sound due to how the Noon works but no CV/Gates are going to the other channels except through the mod inputs (which go to all channels)."

Elta PF-3 Stereo Multi-mode Filter (Formanta Polivoks Filters)
video upload by Bata
"Picked up this stereo filter from Elta Music based on the chip used in the Formanta Polivoks. These filters are capable of sounding very nasty on certain settings."

Syntrx 2 Patching Tip - Random Clock
video upload by Bata
"Showing how you can use one of the outputs on the Erica Synths Syntrx 2 to send out low frequency voltages to the envelope follower. The manual doesn't talk about the outputs being DC coupled or mentioning input 1 being DC coupled but low frequency waves with sharp edges will trigger the synth through input 1. So the patch is OSC 3 Saw to Output 2, Output 2 to Input 1, Set input 1 switch to gate, Send S/H to Oscillator 3, Set Random switch to Gate. This works with the Trapezoid as well or both at the same time. Mixing in audio from the pan knob of output 1 will make the gate detector go crazy at the right settings. Have fun!"

East Beast Patching With Bata
video uploads by Bata
"Grabbed the West Pest a few weeks ago and was quite happy with it so decided to try it's sibling as well. Overall I think it's good although the way some of the knobs are scaled is a little peculiar and hard to use. Setting the right amount of vibrato or a subtle attack amount can be quite tricky even for experienced synth rats. The filter, oscillator, and VCA all sound really good though. Audio-rate modulation of the VCO pulse width and vca level sound particularly good on this synth."
