"Today we are taking a look at Super 606 by AudioKit Pro for iOS inspired by the legendary Roland 606 drum machine. It has been a while since AudioKit released a drum centric app and this one might just be the droids you are looking for. In this video, I’ll give a quick walkthrough of the app and demo a bunch of presets.
Inspired by classic hardware. *Roland Cloud and TR-606 are trademarks of Roland Corporation. SUPER 606 is not affiliated with or endorsed by Roland Corporation.
SUPER 606 features SYNTH generated drums. Give your music movement, character, and life.
"Today, we’re launching a new music hardware platform! Meet the AMYboard, a 10HP modular-sized synthesizer brimming with inputs and outputs for digital and analog audio, MIDI, and two CV channels. The AMYboard firmware runs Micropython, and can be controlled and programmed over the web, where you can share your own creations with others. You can also use AMYboard in Arduino to create music devices of your own design. It’s only US$29.90 - a very inexpensive way to get started making your own modular-capable synths. It can be powered over USB or a 10-pin modular power cable, and comes with a 10HP laser-cut faceplate. You can buy one today!
AMYboard is powered by AMY, the synthesis and effects toolkit that DAn Ellis and I have been working on for the past few years. AMY is a beautiful-sounding, efficient re-creation of classic analog synths – like the Juno-6 – and FM synths – like the DX-7. It can also act as a sampler, play WAV files, or let you make your own synthesizer setups in code from bare oscillators, effects, and filters. AMY is open-source and runs on all sorts of hardware. It already powers some neat synths like the Diapasonix, the Spark, and our own Tulip Creative Computer. AMYboard is our “reference hardware” for AMY - running the same ESP32-S3 as Tulip with 8MB of RAM, but with new features including both analog and S/PDIF (digital) audio input and output, enabling live effects, sampling, and filters. We’ve also added an SD card for sample storage, and an I2C host port for connecting your own displays and knobs!"
AMYboard launches with AMYboard online – a web based simulator and control surface for the AMYboard. You can experience AMYboard online before even buying an AMYboard. AMYboard online runs the same core engine as the AMYboard hardware (ported to WebAssembly) so you can set up and interact with the synthesizer over the web. When you’re ready, you plug in your AMYboard, download your patch, or control it in real time over the web, including the capability to edit and store code on your hardware that will boot up the next time you turn it on. AMYboard’s default firmware allows anyone to code their synth creations in MicroPython running on the hardware; the AMY synthesis engine itself runs in bare-metal C, but you can load your own “sketches” onto the board to build complex environments. For example, here’s a generative house track with a Derrick May custom “WOODPIANO” FM patch. Or here’s a TB303 + 808 acid setup. Or add a filter and reverb to a DX7 patch. AMYboard online also comes with AMYboard World, an online community for AMYboard users to share sketches with each other. We’re really excited to see your cool creations, please do share them!
"The New V1.2 Time Slice firmware unleashes some super cool new features including Polyphonic sample playback, Autoslice + Slice marker editing, Morphagene Reels support, and some funky quantised trigger input and output options amongst others . . .

Anaheim, CA – January 22, 2025: Native Instruments is making it easier than ever for music producers to explore new sounds on their favorite controllers by launching its Native Kontrol Standard (NKS) Hardware Partner Program, announced today at NAMM 2025. Industry leaders Akai Professional, Novation, Nektar, Korg, and M-Audio are adopting the NKS ecosystem to power seamless integration with Native Instruments software. This connects music makers to over 2,000 NKS-compatible instruments and effects from more than 250 brands.
“This expansion highlights the impact of collaboration,” says Simon Cross, Chief Product Officer at Native Instruments. “It marks an important milestone in our mission to provide musicians with an open, connected platform, making professional-grade tools, instruments, and technology more accessible to creators everywhere.”
Native Kontrol Stand"Wavetables are a fantastic tool to expand your sonic horizons. But sometimes the ones built in the Peak aren't enough. And how cool would it be to 'bake' one of your favorite VST's patch down to a wavetable that you can then play around with inside the Peak ?
This video is based off knowledge shared by @StarskyCarr in a super well made tutorial [see here, and here]. I decided to make my own specifically for the Peak/Summit since the workflow is a bit tricky.
Although the video is 25 minutes long it takes only 4-5 minutes to transfer a new wavetable when you're used to it.
Here are the steps to reproduce :
1- Find a patch in any VST that you'd like to create a wavetable for. 2- Automate parameters over a few seconds of this patch playing using a midi clip and a linear envelope(s) 3- The note playing needs to be an F2 detuned by -23ct. This is how we're gonna get the right amount of samples (256) per cycle 4- Record the note and automation using an audio track listening to the VST's track output 5- Send the recorded audio to Audacity 6- Change Audacity's sample rate to 44100 and its time display units to "samples" (bottom left corner) 7- Copy / paste on a new track a small portion of the beginning, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and end of the recording. 8- Analyze how one shape might morph into the next, and use that knowledge to determine the starting position of the waveform selections. Ideally the selection starts when the waveform crosses the 0dB line. 8.1- Manually enter "256" in the audacity selection box to have exactly the right amount of samples. Ctrl+c to copy, then delete the sample crop, and paste it back in the track to have only your 256 samples selection. 9- Do that for the 5 samples and make sure they're one after another without space in between. Delete the first track. 10- Select the 5 samples by clicking on the first one and manually typing "1280" in the selection length. 11- Go to File - Export - Export Selected Audio , and export as a .wav 12- In Novation Components, after selecting "Manage Peak", in the wavetable editor, create wavetable and then "import" - "Audio File" - select the wav you just created - Import as Wavetable 13- Save your wavetable and send it to a free slot. That's it !"

Press release:
Neuzeit Instruments has released new firmware for its synthesizer “Warp”. Among other things, it contains a wavetable editor that works with artificial intelligence. A neural network generates overtone spectra that are translated into wavetables by Warp. Three parameters are available to the user, with which he can playfully and fluently morph through the creations of the neural network. The generated wavetables can not only be used within Warp, but can also be exported as a wav file for use in other synthesizers.
Warp is a four-voice synthesizer in Eurorack format whose sophisticated engine is a hybrid of additive and wavetable synthesis. The core features:
- Wavetable morphing in two dimensions (XY) - complex spectral filters - Wavetable FX (Fold, Bend, Drive, Redux) - Oscillator FX (AM, FM, PM, Sync, Noise, Detune) - 2 ADSRs, 2 LFOs - Extensive modulation matrix - Classic high and low pass filters per voice - 4 wavetable editors onboard, also supporting import of wavetable files from SD card - 7 potentiometers as expressive hands-on macro controls - Workflow focussed on detailed work in the studio, easy handling on stage
The WarpEx expander adds: - MIDI support and extensive CC control - MIDI MPE - 4-voice polyphony
The new firmware v2.00 is now available to download for free from the manufacturer's website. More information at www.neuzeit-instruments.com/warp

"Just after I finished my Ghost video Endorphines sent me a last minute beta firmware. It's now available on the website and I think it's worth installing. They're just minor changes, nothing to worry about when you don't want to go through the trouble of playing .WAV files into the module. In short:
There's 100% unity gain when you hold ROUTING and turn Tone all the way CCW, and 10x digital gain when you turn it fully CW.
There's make-up gain added when you turn the compressor up (so your volume drop will be compensated).
The Big Knob now better recovers from internal filter changes made by CV.
I think the delay line syncs faster.
The reverb is made more 'lush' with internal LFO changes
I've also been intrigued by Ivan's rumbling kick video (parallel sidechaining) that was just released and the cool side effects of feeding audio rate signals to the sidechain trigger input. I finished this video with an 'acid techno' patch that only involves the Queen of Pentacles mighty kick, Ghost, and some CV.
Sweet!

"I'm an 80s kid…and, dude, in my opinion, - even if I sound like an old fart now - there was no better time to be a kid than the 80s (and the 90s, maybe). I mean, dude, I spent my Saturdays lying on the floor of our living room making mixtapes. My parents had this huuuuuuge record collection and I would spend hours on end going through these records…Joy Division, The Cure, The Smiths, Prince, all that good stuff, you know. I mean, how cool is that?
And I remember being all hyped up because my parents let me watch Wrestlemania 5…dude, Hulk Hogan vs Randy Savage…can it get any better? And I sat there wearing both my Hulkamania shirt and my WW(F|E) Championship belt waving this silly foam finger in my dad's face like there was no tomorrow. Those were the days, my friend!
Nintendo released the NES, Michael Jackson's Thriller came out, endless summer nights, countless barbecues…dude, seriously, how awesome were the 80s?
To honour this amazing decade, I made this PO-33 80s drum kit consisting of 15 one shot drum hits and 3 drum loops. I really just sampled a bunch of my old drum machines and layered the samples in Ableton to…well just because😂
All my samples and kits are copyright free - you can use them in your own productions, videos, whatever. The main thing is: have fun with this kit (or any of my other kits or packs)!!! If you make a cool track with one of my kits or sample packs, let me know!
If you want to know more about how to transfer data to your PO-33, please check this amazing data transfer tutorial by @Ollie Loops :"
"In this chapter of our series on the Teenage Engineering PO-33 KO!, we take a look at one of the more interesting features of the KO, the ability to data transfer to and from the unit. The KO has a feature where connecting a stereo 1/8" to 1/8" cable between the unit and an audio recorder allows you to download all of the samples and patterns in the unit. This allows you to swap samples and patterns without loosing your work. You then have a back up of your work. You can also transfer files directly between two KOs. Note: this also applies to the other Pocket Operators in the Metal Series, the PO-32 and PO-35.
It is super important to get the right audio format when you record the data transfer. It must be a stereo 16 bit 44100 hz file format or better. The recording will likely fail if you deviant from this format."
Rob Papen sharpens soft synth breakthrough by bringing boosted BLADE-2 to existing bundle owners and wider world beyond
ECHT, THE NETHERLANDS: virtual synthesizer, instrument, and effect plug-in developer Rob Papen Inspiration Soundware is proud to announce availability of BLADE-2 — boosting its original BLADE soft synth with fantastic features making it a dream synth for synth lovers who like to think out of the box while working in the box, and available at no extra cost to existing owners of the company’s expansive eXplorer-6 and sure-fire SoundDesign-X bundles — as of October 28…
When the original BLADE was released back in 2012, it had a unique concept — controlling the waveform harmonics (HARMOLATOR) using its recordable XY PAD, which was a very different approach to additive synthesis, and remains so to this day. Indeed, it was the first Rob Papen soft synth to include this feature, facilitating flexible sound editing, recording, and tempo-based playback. Put it this way: when putting this extraordinary combination into action, BLADE users can creatively generate very different tones — far from the sound of the subtractive synthesis crowd, and even those of other additive synthesizers.
"The Kodamo EssenceFM is an FM synthesizer currently in development. At Soundmit 2019 co-developer Masami demonstrates the unit. It has 300 voices, 8 outputs, editable waveforms and user-designable algorithms. But it also imports wav fils and dx7 sounds, has a high quality touch screen, multi-envelopes, modulatie matrix, polyphonic aftertouch and much more…check out this cool synthesizer!"
"today I have a little bit of creating cool effects with the granular synthesizer Load Runner from pulse Synthesizers.
basically it's a small game with granulation and length, later I raised the pitch up and then down to say how cool results give you granular synth for creating textures or new ambient sounds and backgrounds.
for showing this I also used a little reverb from Black Hole DSP from Erica Synths.
The Load Runner granular synthesizer allows you to load 16bit WAV files from USB flash drive.
The selected sample is a randomly generated source of information on CV and CV.
Grain length and pitch are also controlled via the front panel or CV. Three pitch modes are selectable via the settings menu. The grain amplitude envelope is selectable from 10 shapes.
Also the term 'granular'refers to small snippets of sound ranging from 10 milliseconds to 1 second; each short section of sound is referred to as grain. An amplitude envelope is applied to different grains and textures. When multiple grains are played together, they can form a continuous sound with different characteristics."
My new looper iOS app Esion! Published on Mar 28, 2019 once upon a synth
"I'm excited to introduce Esion, my new texture looper iOS app. You get 3 free-running tracks and 4 effects. Each effect has an XY pad. The idea is to capture random vocal sounds or ambient sounds and turn them into strange evolving textures that you can use in your songs. It's available for both iPhone and iPad.
"Esion is a sound design and experimentation tool. You start by recording an audio sample into one of 3 tracks (e.g. by whistling into the mic). As soon as you're done recording, the audio starts looping.
Now, here's the fun part! Each track is run through its own effect chain which includes a pitch shifter, bit crusher, delay and reverb. Each effect has 2 parameters you can adjust by positioning circles on the XY pad. You can also bypass any effect.
Tired of your recording? No problem, simply record over it. The effect settings remain in tact when you record a new sample. This allows you to experiment with different textures and quickly turn your simple samples into polyrhythmic, organic, unrecognizable sonic textures. Cool right?
Unlike traditional loopers, Esion is not time-sync'd or rhythm-based (i.e. it's not your standard guitar looper pedal). Instead, Esion is free flowing and designed to be used to create ambient experimental sonic textures and complex evolving loops.
After spending some time tweaking your sound, you can double-tap anywhere on the XY pad to start recording your performance. All your recordings are saved as wav files which you can then export into your favourite DAW and or share with your friends.
••• FEATURES •••
• 3 independent tracks.
• Record audio loops with the mic.
• Reverse the loops in real-time.
• Mute/Disable/Clear loops on the fly.
• Flexible architecture. You can turn all effects and tracks on/off independently.
• Run each track through 4 effects: Bit Crusher/Sample-Rate reducer, Time/Pitch Stretcher, Reverb, Delay.
• Each effect has a dedicated XY-pad to control parameters independently for each track.
• XY-pad dedicated to changing pan and volume for each track separately.
• Global record feature allows you to record everything you hear. Recordings are stored as wav files which you can export/share.
• While recording you can tweak all the parameters to create complex performances.
• Universal app (iPhone/iPad)
••• PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING •••
• This is *not* a tempo-sync'd/rhythmic/beat looper. If you're looking for a traditional looper app for making beats, this is not that app.
• Audiobus/IAA/AUv3/Ableton Link are *not* supported, sorry! I designed this to be a standalone sound design tool. Think: "Voice Memo" for aliens.
• While the app is primarily designed to be used with the built-in mic, you should be able to connect other interfaces and hardware too. I've tested it with the Roland Go:Mixer Pro and it worked fine but I can't guarantee that it'll work with all other hardware interfaces (since I can't test them all).
If you want to see the app in action please watch my YouTube videos (http://onceuponasynth.tv).
If you do get the app, thank you so much! I hope you create beautiful and strange sounds with it.
