Altın Gün - (Live on KEXP)
Altın Gün Live on KEXP with a Roland Juno-60 & SH-2. I beleive that's and SH-2 based on the four knobs and set of sliders to the left of them.
Note the video above and the video above are the same. They are just set to start at different tracks. The above should start with Cemalım and the below with Goca Dünya. Both do an interesting job at showcasing the two synths used in this musical context. Altın Gün is based out of Amsterdam. They perform psychedelic rock covers of classic Turkish/Anatolian folk music.

Tycho - Full Performance (Live on KEXP)
Published on Sep 25, 2014 KEXP
This one is in via MATRIXSYNTH reader and supporter Simo Saukko. Guitars dominate, but synths are definitely featured. I thought it was pretty cool they use a Moog Little Phatty 4:27 for the lead line. Also worth noting are the slim wood side panels on the Access Virus. It gives it a whole new look, and rather nice one imo.

Dave Smith Instruments "In The Spotlight with the Tempest" with Kite Base
The next in the Dave Smith Instruments' "In The Spotlight with the Tempest" series is currently up with Kite Base here.
"Kite Base is an electronic duo consisting of bass guitarists Ayse Hassan (Savages) and Kendra Frost. After releasing tracks ‘Dadum’ and ‘Miracle Waves’ online, plus a cover of ‘Something I Can Never Have’ by Nine Inch Nails, the band have generated tens of thousands of listens and gained further support from the likes of KEXP, BBC Radio 6Music, The Guardian, Pitchfork and Stereogum. This October, in support of their local music community, they revealed details of their debut physical release ‘Soothe’, available as a limited edition 7″ vinyl via Flashback Records- a London based independent record store and label. They have a Tempest called Alan, named after Mr. Turing and he is their surrogate third band mate."

Young Fathers - Shame | Guardian Sessions
Published on Apr 8, 2015 Guardian Music
"Young Fathers perform Shame live in session."
"In a live session recorded exclusively for the Guardian at Total Refreshment Studios in Hackney, east London, Mercury prize-winning Scottish trio Young Fathers perform Shame from their album White Men are Black Too. Fusing elements of post-punk, hip-hop and pop, their album explores themes of race, sexuality and identity and sounds at once mainstream, lo-fi and political. As the group's Alloysious Massaquoi says: 'Young Fathers are breaking out of the ghetto'."

Man or Astro-Man? - Principles Unknown - Happy Birthday Leon Theremin!
YouTube Uploaded by Stevo71 on Feb 22, 2011
Dueling theremins. Heard this one on my bike ride today listening to KEXP via their iOS app: KEXP Radio iTunes. Kevin Cole did a nice piece on the theremin and it's influence on electronic music and of course Bob Moog. I thought this would make for a great B-Day post. You don't see dueling theremins everyday.
Video description:
"Recorded 21 Feb, 2011, at The Independent in San Francisco, CA.
Includes Yvonne Lambert of The Octopus Project and Coco having a theremin battle.
Photos from the show can be seen here."
According to the web, the best guess at Lev Termen's, aka Leon Theremin's birthday was August 15, 1896. Wikipedia has "27 August [O.S. 15 August] 1896, Saint Petersburg, Russian Empire"
Theremin World does have the 15th along with a nice birthday post.
Thank you Leon!
Bob Moog started by building theremin kits in his youth, and continued to build them under Big Briar followed by the new Moog Music which still builds them today. In the video above Yvonne Lambert is playing the Moog Etherwave Pro.
