'SIEGFRIED' | VC RES EQ + VBR | Serge Modular | Episode 11

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"The VC RES EQ is big, very big and the VBR (Variable Bandwidth Filter) makes it even bigger. But even then, it's not a combo that would appeal to the 'mainstream' eurorack audience. The 4U version joins both modules under one panel and is called 'SIEGFRIED', inspired by Wagner's dragonslayer in the classic Ring des Nibelungen epic 15 hour opera which ends in Ragnarok - the Apocalyptic end of the Gods. Now that's a much better setting! We need mist, heroes, dragons, Gods and something close to Mount Doom. Tolkien didn't like Wagner's work at all, in fact, he hated it. With this eurorack combo you can now create your own adventure, keep the ring for yourself and throw Frodo into Mount Doom.

This is one of my favorite videos so far and I just LOVE the sound of the VC RES EQ. The VBR is added to tame the harsh sounds that often come from the 'pet dragon', but if you play it with your fingertips, prepare for myths and legends.

As always, this video is not sponsored, but I am enjoying a small 'artist discount' from Random*Source because I make videos like this. Dear Serge, if you're watching this, THANK YOU for being Serge and thank you Random*Source for keeping the legend vibrant, alive and kicking."

Serge Modular Synth Res EQ | Feedback Drone

video upload by Akihiko Matsumoto

"Serge Modular Synth (Sample Pack) https://akihikomatsumoto.sellfy.store... Created entirely with the unique sonic character of Serge modular systems

About this Pack
Serge Tcherepnin once described his instruments not as tools but as open systems for discovering relationships between sound and control. The Serge Modular Synth is built on this principle. It does not simulate acoustic behavior; it generates its own logic of vibration. Each circuit is an experiment in how voltage can behave as if it were alive.

This sample pack captures that principle through Random Source’s modern Serge system, combining the GTO, GTS, and Res EQ with the reissued 50th Anniversary Paperface. The recordings move fluidly between the precise tension of Eurorack signals and the raw, physical tone of classic 4U banana systems. Every patch was shaped through direct voltage interaction rather than digital post-processing, preserving the unpredictable complexity that defines the Serge approach."

Serge ResEQ | No Input Feedback

video upload by Akihiko Matsumoto

Every patch was shaped through direct voltage interaction rather than digital post-processing, preserving the unpredictable complexity that defines the Serge approach.

Why Serge Matters
Serge Modular was designed in the 1970s by Serge Tcherepnin. It was created as an open-ended tool for sonic experimentation. Influenced by cybernetics and avant-garde composition, this system rejects musical hierarchies and embraces uncertainty.
In Serge, control voltages and audio signals are treated as equals. The circuits invite exploration through feedback, cross-modulation, and unpredictable interactions. Every patch is a process of discovery rather than reproduction.
This makes Serge a powerful choice for artists seeking sounds that are not pre-shaped or confined by rules. The textures you will find in this pack are unstable, alive, and deeply human.

Inside the Pack
The collection includes loops, one-shots, and drones. It extends from tonal minimalism to complex, evolving noise structures. You will find FM and AM modulations, unstable oscillations, and dark ambient layers that drift beyond equal temperament. There are moments of feedback that verge on collapse, SSG circuits running into chaotic self-modulation, and subtle rhythmic patterns that carry the unmistakable texture of analog uncertainty.
Each sound maintains the distinctive grain of Serge synthesis: harmonic richness without symmetry, motion that arises from interaction rather than programming. This is material for artists who value the tactile quality of electricity, who hear circuits as compositional partners rather than instruments.

Who This Pack Is For
Ideal for producers working in experimental electronic music, sound design, ambient, noise, or techno.
This pack suits those who are not satisfied with polished libraries and are looking for materials that add edge, texture, and risk to their work.

Continuous Evolution
This library is a growing archive. New sounds are added through regular updates at no additional cost for existing users. If you already own the pack, simply log in to your Sellfy account and new files will appear automatically. For those new to the collection, this is an invitation to enter a sonic environment that is never fixed but always evolving.

Not Just a Sample Pack
Some of the included tracks were originally composed as complete works. These can be experienced as finished drone pieces or used as inspiring source material. The lines between sample and sound art are intentionally blurred."

India's Eastern Peripheral Expressway (NE2), with original music

video upload by CatSynth TV

"In our first highway video from India, we explore a portion of National Expressway 2, also known as the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. This 6-lane freeway runs as an outer belt around the Delhi metropolitan area. We cover the segment starting in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, running north to its interchange with the Delhi-Meerut Expressway (NE3). Along the way we cross several other highways connecting Delhi and various towns and cities in U.P., including National Highways 9 and 334C.

Original music composed and performed by Amanda Chaudhary/
Several of the instruments in this composition use an unusual scale and tuning that uses 12 tones taken from 22edo (equal divisions of the octave) tuning, for a more unusual and colorful sound. This including the main mallet pattern played on Arturia Pigments.

Full set of instruments includes:
Arturia Pigments, Pure LoFi-, CP-70 V, Jup-8 V, Delay Brigade, LX-21 Reverb
Cherry Audio SH-MAX, Elka-X, Solovox, CA2600, Crumar Spirit, Stardust 201
Vintage Minimoog
Stylophone Theremin
EastWest Ministry of Rock, Stormdrum 2 & 3, Orchestral Percussion Gold
BFD3 Drums
AudioModeling SWAM Solo Cello
Tracktion BioTek 2
Metasonix R54 and RK2 modules

Serge Modular Synth | Analog FM Drone

video upload by Akihiko Matsumoto

"Serge Modular Synth (Sample Pack)
Created entirely with the unique sonic character of Serge modular systems
https://akihikomatsumoto.sellfy.store...

About this Pack
This updated sample pack is composed entirely with Serge Modular Synthesizers — systems known not for emulating instruments, but for redefining how sound is shaped.
Included are raw noise textures, slowly morphing drones, and intricate one-shots captured through extensive patching with Random*Source Eurorack modules and classic Paperface 50 series panels.
Each sound reflects the chaotic elegance of analog voltages in motion. You’ll hear modulations that escape grid-bound sequencing, and timbral behaviors that emerge from complex feedback, slewing, and intermodulation — the kind of detail digital systems rarely capture convincingly.

Random Source SERGE INORI + TKB // DAY 14 #jamuary2026

video upload by Dexba

"This feels so wrong – but why? 😄
A sprinkle of acid with my Serge INORI, using 8 steps only from the TKB, lane A for pitch, lane B for glide, lane C for filter modulation (and lane D was for pitch transpose, but that was a bit harder to master in a quick jam, so I ended up leaving it out).
One oscillator provides the bass, the other one the kick, you know the drill.
So much fun, I hope you'll enjoy it! 🧡"

Patch Memory Performance #3 | Modular synth terrace jam with 4MS SMR and R*S Triple Waveshaper

video upload by djr brunstein

"Patch Memory Performance.

A modular synthesiser performance recorded on my terrace in Porto, built around the 4MS Spectral Multiband Resonator and the Serge Random Source Triple Waveshaper [with Play all Day's PlayFader].

This patch became something to play rather than explain, with dense cross modulation and unstable feedback paths.

Watch the companion video looking at the underlying patch structure here:"

Patch Memory #3 | Chaotic cross modulation with 4MS SMR and R*S Triple Waveshaper

video upload by djr brunstein

"Another patch exploration video, this time focusing on chaotic cross modulation between the 4MS Spectral Multiband Resonator and the Serge Random Source Triple Waveshaper.

This is a short overview of the patch logic rather than a full performance or a repeatable recipe. The sounds are unstable by design and difficult to reproduce exactly.

Performance audio available on Bandcamp, alongside an additional piece here:

Everything Oscillates: A closer look at the Serge Random Source Helios & Paris Flash

video upload by Bleeps and Boops

"Following up on Part 1 - • From DIY to Cult Legend: The Serge Synthes... [posted here] - here's a closer look at two of the R*S Serge 50th Anniversary Paperface panels. If you've not seen the first part yet, please do since it gives a decent background on where these came from. Any corrections or questions, please comment below: I've tried my best but there's always going to be an omission or mistake.

All the background music was made on the Serge - if I get the chance I'll upload it somewhere. It's genuinely the most productive six weeks I've ever had with one synth.

These new versions are a re-work in collaboration with Serge himself, to update and improve his original Paperface circuits. As such the oscillators track nicely over the full range, everything is stable, and overall it's better suited to life in a modern studio.

As before, an enormous thanks to ‪@serge-modular‬ for the loan of this beast.

Time to start saving I think...

As ever, thanks for watching!"

Testing patch, from DivKid - Part 2: VASTLY IMPROVED FAKE REVERB FROM RING MOD

video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO

Follow-up to this post.

"This time, I'm not testing the DivKid patch, but my own humble idea.
It's sure, you can improve my idea. I didn't have time to do a better video, because I have to launch a new module this week...

At first, I'll using my Random*Source / SERGE modules.
And then, with my Dual Undula Oscillator. Because the VCO can work like a VCF, and th frequency can go very low.

Hope you will enjoy it :)"

Crossing Voices – Serge Modular Improvisation

video upload by Maknouchi

"Improvised modular synth performance using Serge Easel system, TKB touch keyboard sequencer, and the Crocodile module. Exploring generative patches, analog textures, ambient noise, and chaotic control voltages.

A short excerpt from a Serge Modular improvisation, where two independent voices are gently crossfaded to sculpt both rhythm and melody.
Through a minimal patch, a balance between structure and spontaneity is explored—organic textures emerge from subtle modulations and interplay.

Testing patch, from DivKid, from Rob Hordijks FAKE Reverb with Ring Modulation.

video upload by LARIX ELEKTRO

"‪@DivKid‬ 's releasing a very interesting video (as usual).
from an idea of Rob Hordijks.
I let you seeing all the explanations here:[below]

So, why not testing it by myself ?
At first, I'll using my Random*Source / SERGE modules.
And stupidly, I was forgetting that my DUAL UNDULA OSCILLATOR has all functions to test the idea ! So I'm testing the idea with it.
And after that, I'm digressing around the stereo possibilities of my module and the MS (mid/side) option.

Ok, I didn't have a lot of time (busy after SuperBooth...) so it's a bit "from scratch"... Hope you will enjoy it :)"

How to FAKE Reverb with Ring Modulation // Rob Hordijks ‘Poor Mans Delays’ [BETTER BLEEPS]

video upload by DivKid

"So here's a bit of story and the first BETTER BLEEPS video in a long time!

With Chris from Moog sharing Rob Hordijk's trick to emulate reverb wth Ring Modulation in the recent Superbooth video, that of course sparked questions. So strap in with a brew for a time travel trip back to 2017 where Rob Hordijk gave a tutorial with his "poor mans delay" technique and stay tuned for going through the technique and method with us in the video. Grab the free PDF and VCV Rack patch for further material on the technique. Links below.

This is applicable to many modules and bits of gear, to that point after the main demo with Manic (DivKid & Apollo View) I go through it with 4 more modules (Instruo VinCA, cLFO from AtoV, Ouija from Nekyia and A*B+C by Befaco)."
