Una demo de sonido sin voz de G1-Emu alpha 10, el emulador del Nord Modular G1. Suenan pads, un órgano, drones, secuenciadores y un patch de cuatro slots con morphs, todos cargados desde Animatek NME. Se ve también el Patch Mutator de NME y el panel virtual del G1 con su pantalla, sus knobs y sus LEDs.

Si vienes del sintetizador modular virtual (VCV Rack, The Grid de Bitwig), esto es el modular de Clavia de finales de los 90, ahora en software. Es una alpha de la comunidad: el emulador no incluye ROM y necesitas tu propia copia de un Nord Modular rack con OS 3.03.

Nord Modular G1 emulated in Gearmulator: it finally makes sound | #1

The emulated Nord Modular G1 is now playing: the original G1 OS running on a computer, using Gearmulator, and controlled from my Animatek NME editor as if it were the real synth. First test, in pre-alpha phase.

I document the first sound from a Nord Modular G1 emulator. The original G1 operating system runs on an emulated 68331 processor and loads its programs on four emulated DSP56303s, with the same kernel that Gearmulator uses for the Nord Lead 2X. The Animatek NME editor connects via PC Port and loads patches with oscillators, a mixer, and filters onto the virtual G1. And just like with the hardware, I close the editor, the synth continues playing, and when I open it again, it retrieves the patch.

This is a snapshot of the development process, bugs and all: clicks, filters that aren't working yet, unfinished clocks and sequencers, and empty banks. The emulator isn't released yet, and no ROMs are being distributed. This is episode 1 of the emulator's development diary. I'll upload a new one whenever there's a noticeable improvement.

VAEMI Releases Its First Plug-in: R2R Ladder for VCV Rack

"The hardware R2R Ladder Eurorack module is now available as a free virtual module, marking the first release in VAEMI’s expanding software line.

Istanbul, Türkiye – September 2026 – Istanbul-based electronic musical instrument manufacturer VAEMI – Volt Age Electronic Musical Instruments has released its first plug-in and first software product: R2R Ladder for VCV Rack. The new virtual module is a software adaptation of VAEMI’s physical R2R Ladder Eurorack module, preserving the original hardware’s bidirectional architecture and core musical concept. The plug-in is available free of charge through the official VCV Library.

Inspired by the fundamental architecture of an R-2R digital-to-analog converter, R2R Ladder uses eight weighted connections representing eight binary bits. Together, these provide 256 possible binary combinations, opening up a wide range of applications for audio, CV, gates, modulation and waveform processing.

The module can operate in two directions.

Seeded Melodies, Evolving Drums — Gentle IDM Patch with Ormer Modular SHOAL (VCV Rack)

"A gentle IDM patch built entirely from one sequencer — Shoal by Ormer Modular, an 8-track generative melody sequencer now officially available in the VCV Library. Each track uses a numeric seed for a deterministic, repeatable pattern.

6 tracks feed FM synth voices (Bogaudio FMOp), 2 tracks drive drums (dbRackModules Drums), with Branches adding probability-based triggering. Everything passes through Chronoblob2 delay into a shared Valley Plateau reverb.

One clock. Eight evolving voices. Nothing loops the same way twice.

A very musical RANDOM8 patch you should try

"Here's how to make RANDOM8 produce repeating notes (where the SAME NOTES repeat each time!), M185 style. You need a VCA & two channels of RANDOM8. This will also work on a Turing Machine/other random modules! THIS PATCH IS ALSO A RANDOM GATE PATCH - I don't show this, but you could trigger drum modules probabilistically with it! 👉 / mylarmelodies 🙌

Bonus Tip: I have been asked a lot whether RANDOM8 could generate gates - This patch achieves that, so you could also use the output of the VCA and feed it to percussion modules, or your voices, etc.
