MAESTRO USS-1
"This is a large (22"x11"x9") analog box with six effects: Wave Form, Filter, Sample & Hold, Phase Shift, Envelope and Sub-Harmonic. There are six rocker switches color coded with eight sliders on the front panel. The sounds on this unit are simply excellent, very desirable for studio applications. Lush and warm sums this unit up well. The waveform creates a classic fuzz that I like to stack other effects on to. The sub-harmonic combined with the phase is very, well ..... 'Bucketheadesque?'"
Update via Brian Kehew of The Moog Cookbook in the comments:
"These were built by Oberheim, before Oberheim made their own synths..."
and 7ate9:
"not russian but tom oberheim!
as to whether they were built before oberheim made gear under the oberheim brand, I'm not sure as I've seen the maestro ringmod pedal with both maestro and oberheim labels on it. anybody has some history on this?"

GForce String Machine to include the Yamaha GX1
Macaixa noticed this image and the following blurb after clicking through this post.
"?
A teaser of something that should appear in a VSM add-on pack. This instrument is a true rarity and something that we were truly privileged to play, let alone record."
If you look at the image of this post you will see that is the Yamaha GX1 programmer. For those that don't know what the GX1 is, it's the precursor to the Yamaha CS80. Interlock TurboDX1 Memory Expander
images via this auction, via Loscha."The DX Turbo 1 Memory Expander is a very rare and essential accessory for anyone who owns a DX7, DX5 or DX1. Use it to store your programs for live work so you don't need to drag your PC along, or use it to back up your latest sonic creations. Functions like RAM1 cartrdiges and is like having 20 RAM1 cartridges at the push of a button.
It can hold an incredible 20 BANKS of either 32 Sound Memories or 32 Performance memories for a total of 640 sounds or performances.
I am including a CD-ROM containing over 200,000 voices for the DX7 and other 6 operator DX/TX synths. This is my own personal collection which I have bought, found, downloaded, acquired and compiled over the years. It is pretty well organized and I believe it represents a fairly huge and comprehensive collection of FM sounds. It also contains various software and documentation.
Some of the contents include the entire VRC Cartridge Set files from 101 to 112. DX7 IIFD VRC 1001 to 1003. The original factory voices for the DX7, DX5, DX1, TX802, TX7, TX816 and literally thousands more. I doubt you'll find a more comprehensive and well organized collection anywhere."
