"My friend Karl and I are organizing an all day festival in Baltimore, MD at our venue The Hexagon (hexagonspace.com). From noon until 7pm we're going to have a Synth DIY / Circuit Bending / Chiptunes meet-up where people can bring their own home-built and modified instruments to set up and show off. This afternoon event is free to the public and there will be performances throughout the day featuring local musicians with home-built electronic instruments including Peter Blasser (sejayno, ciat-lonbarde), Carly Ptak (Nautical Almanac), T.A. Zook (http://www.myspace.com/tazook), The Baltimore SDIY Variable Ensemble, The Cheater's Club, and others. We will have tables set up with power/small amps, but if anyone has a large modular system they're considering bringing they can let us know by emailing me at josh@hexagonspace.com so we can make sure they have space reserved.
There will be a happy hour / potluck with DJ's from 7-9pm (our space is byob, so bring whatever you like to eat & drink).
At 9PM that night we're going to have an all 8-bit / Chiptunes Baltimore Invasion with Bubblyfish, Glomag, Nullsleep, noteNdo, and others from NYC playing their gameboys and other modified game systems live. There will be live visuals by don miller, voltage controlled, and noteNdo. $10 / will go on until 2AM. Not to be missed!
Thanks!
Josh"

Rop Papen RG
"RG is a brand new groove plug-in that is far more than just a "virtual Rhythm Guitar player .By using the RG onboard sequencer it is possible to create classic Rhythm Guitar grooves, but beyond that you can use the synthesizer features and effects to make fresh new edgy guitar grooves. To play the grooves RG is using a keyboard layout of "major chords" and "minor chords", each with two sequence patterns (A or B) option.
It is only a matter of hitting a single note in the major keyboard range or minor keyboard range and the groove plays. The sound sets are clean sampled guitars, which gives you great freedom and flexibility when using the synthesizer features and effects of RG.
Guitar types included are:
- The classic Fender Stratocaster ® electric guitar
- A 8th note groove type Steel String acoustic guitar
- A 16th note groove type Steel String acoustic guitar
The synthesizer parts of RG include a classic analog modelled synthesizer filter, LFO, envelopes and modulation section. The effect section can be built up by using up to 3 effects at a time. Included are midi time-based delays, chorus and also speaker simulators, phaser, flanger and many more. Included are over 500 presets included 300 "RG" grooves and 200 "basic" grooves.
RG…the very first 'Rhythm Guitar Synth'."

AudioCubes Reviews, OSC Support and Open Source SDK
New SDK and OSC SupportWe put together a mini audiocube configuration panel for building audio applications easily with the cubes and Max/MSP. This will also let us develop some interesting standalone audio applications in the very near future. As an example, we created some patches to send Open Sound Control (OSC) messages to Future Audio Workshop's Circle synth using the AudioCubes. We also did a Quartz Composer example to send colour info over Open Sound Control (OSC) from Quartz to the AudioCubes' RGB LED.
AudioCubes compatible with Max/MSP 5
AudioCubes work with Max/MSP 5 Cycling '74 recently announced Max/MSP 5, a new version of its well-known creative development environment Max/MSP. As you probably already know, AudioCubes comes with an open source development kit consisting of the hardware communication external for Max/MSP and a collection of Max/MSP patches for making your own applications for AudioCubes. You can download all software from the Percussa Website under the Support section, even if you don't have AudioCubes. Today we tested the patches and external with Max/MSP 5 and all patches and external seem to work fine, so we can confirm that AudioCubes and Max/MSP 5 are compatible.
