MERRY SYNTHMAS!!!

Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone! New posts will go up shortly. I just wrapped up on the morning's festivities and now I get to relax, post, and watch episodes of the original Little Rascals in the background. Yep, it's become a family tradition believe it or not. BTW, if you haven't seen them, do it some time. They are absurd in the best way.

As you can see, this year was pretty slim on the synth acquisition front. As you know Novation sent in an UltraNova for review (BTW, I should have a little surprise for you all, coming in January, courtesy of Novation), my wife picked up a Voyager pint glass from Moog for me, complete with beer, and I received my yearly Christmas card from Analogue Solutions (thank you Tom!).

The biggest gift of the year, of course, is running this site. I want to thank all of you who take the time out of your day to visit, contribute, and spread the word. I want to give an extra thanks to the supporters of MATRIXSYNTH!, and of course my sponsors above (thank you DSI!) and on the right. Without you, this site would not be the same, let alone possible. Thank you all!

"Volume 4 of the 'Circuits and Strings' series from subtractiveLAD aka: Stephen Hummel.

A peaceful, deep ambient meditation based on a chord progression performed on my Korg Poly-61 and a loop pedal jam on my Ibanez Artcore AG86.

I made the patch on the Poly-61 and ran it through my Boss RE-20 Space Echo, with a little Line 6 Verbzilla.

The ambient guitar is the result of effects from my pedalboard, mixing bus and DAW.

"Hachi runs on a Novation Launchpad Pro [+more, see below] and includes multiple sequencers. This video shows the step sequencer controlling a TT-303.

Each of the 8 columns is a step, and the note can be modified by octave (orange), velocity (green), slide (gray), tie (dark blue), repeat (pink), and so on.

"Hachi

A multi-function midi sequencer that runs on a Novation Launchpad Pro and a headless computer like a Raspberry Pi. Hachi is written in Java, and so can run on a Pi (tested), a Mac (tested), and many other platforms (untested), with or without keyboard and monitor.

Hachi (= 'eight' in Japanese) can run up to 8 'modules' at a time. Available modules include several midi sequencers, a paint/animation toy, and a sequencer-controller that lets you coordinate your sequencers. Hachi is a generalized version of this simpler sequencer that I wrote for the original Launchpad. That basic sequencer runs as one module in Hachi."
