"I've started up a wiki, based on the wikipedia engine, that is a free guide to audio recording. Its called WikiRecording.org. As is par for the course with a wiki, its under the same GNU license as Wikipedia and anyone can edit it. We have not only have technical information, but tutorials as well.

We've had some help from the people at TapeOp and some University professors who teach audio recording and now we have about 50 articles on the site (and it is still in its first week and a half of operations.)

We could really use some articles about all things Synth. I mean, "Moog" hasn't shown up on the site yet in anyway shape or form. That just seems wrong! I'm sure you're reader base would enjoy the site and with any-luck bring some expertise along with them. "

The Modcan A-Series format Milton sequencer was designed by Peter Grenader of EAR and Buzzclick Music, built by Cynthia. The Modcan A-Series format Milton sequencer is relatively rare, it's the large/wide panel on top.

Rather than toss them, perhaps someone out there can figure out a module that would use *only* the existing holes (we can strip and rescreen the printing).

Monster Truck Korg MS20 up for auction. These giant sized Korg MS20s were used for eductional purposes, and they are fully functional. Never saw one this clean before. Title link takes you to more shots.

These musical instruments are in upright ‘welsh dresser’ cabinets, fully loaded with a range of sound generating, filtering, gating, envelope generating modules, cross-patching signals between which will produce almost any sound imaginable – not by instant recall of factory pre-set or pre-sampled voices but by hours of fun manually cross-patching control voltages and tweaking every nuance of sound until you find your own perfect hand-made sound. I'm sad to say that this could be the last Packrat strip for some time. This is the last strip for Keyboard magazine and David C. Here's another find I'm left wondering how the heck I never ran into until now. Title link takes you to a fascinating Sound on Sound article on Martin Newcomb and The Museum of Synthezier Technology. The craziest thing? No one came to it over time! He eventually ended it due to lack of interest and repair costs. He sold off most of the gear to Turnkey; the gear is now part of their vintage collection. Amazing story.

"The Museum of Synthesizer Technology succeeded in putting together what was, at the time, the world's largest collection of analogue synths, but Martin was dismayed to find that this did not guarantee public interest. So was it a failure? "Yes," he told me, "it failed. In retrospect, I liken it to St Paul's Cathedral. Everyone thinks it's great that St Paul's is there, but they assume that it's always going to be there and never bother to go and see it. The Museum was like that. All the people came along in the first couple of years and, after that, the only support came from America, Germany and, to a lesser degree, Japan. I tried to organise things like tours from college music departments, but the response was always, 'You're too far away,' or 'I'll make an effort at some point but not at the moment.'"

"Go to Turnkey and have a look at their collection — almost all of that came from the Museum."
