Tiptop Audio Buchla 200t Sound Demo

video upload by Station 252

"Buchla and Tiptop Audio 200t series workout.

Exploring Dual Oscillator Model 258t and Quad Function Generator Model 281t sound capabilities while recording my new EP. I was curious how the sound and response of those two modules will fit into my music and at the same time going into territories I wouldn't normally go to out of curiosity.

I've used a bunch of additional modules as my patches grew to hear how 200t modules fit with other eurorack modules and to keep everything in context, those where:

Tiptop Audio Introduces ModFX and FSU Eurorack Effects Modules

SUPERBOOTH video here. Press release and pics via Tiptop Audio:

The Tiptop Audio effects module line continues with two new additions: ModFX and FSU. Built from the same platform as ECHOZ, ZVERB and the Z5000 they have the same easy to use and compact UI with CV control over all three DSP parameter and the Fidelity control over the DSP clock. Both are available in the White panel as well as the newer backlit Black panels.

ModFX offers three banks of modulations effects from classic stomp box and rack effects to more experimental processing not found in any other hardware. One of the strengths of this module is the creative ways it moves static mono sources into expansive stereo sound fields.

The Chorus bank has effects essential to electronic music production. Many classic synths like the Solina or Juno series used chorus as part of their trademark sounds. While Chorus is often a subtle process the widens and deepens the source sound – one that you almost don’t notice until it’s turned off – these eight programs include some more esoteric options that can create wobbly ambiences or deep detuned rooms particularly when combined with the Fidelity control.

Flange effects come from the modulation of very short delay times and this bank expands on that to include Karplus and Resonant pitch effects and panning using the Haas effect. Programs like the Chord Resonator can turn percussive tracks into harmonic material and the Haas panning creates wide stereo spreads without pitch or amplitude modulation.

ModFX’s Filter bank doesn’t have the typical high and low pass options common to synths and instead features a set of highly modulated and unusual filtering options. Programs include a couple of vintage inspired all pass filter based phasers, filter based panning and some vocal formant options.

FSU brings some more aggressive and destructive processing to the FX lineup form guitar pedal inspired distortion to granular processing to tape recorder style Sound on Sound looping. Distortions include Ring Modulation and Frequency Shifting for some vintage analog mayhem. Glitch bank has time based effects that abuse the aspects of delay and pitch pushing them to more experimental and extreme sounds. And Sound On Sound recreates one of the more interesting features of reel to reel tape decks that allowed overdubbing endlessly without multi-tracking. This bank uses a short tape loop and adds a variety of digital processes like pitch shifting and granular playback to make it even more experimental.

Pro 3 + Subharmonicon: Do They Fit Together?

video upload by Synthetic World 859

"Today I wanted to try my Moog Subharmonicon as a jam companion for keyboard playing on the Sequential Pro 3. It's failed before, so why would it work this time? Because I used an external effect! The Subharmonicon is running through my TipTop Audio Echoz eurorack delay, which rocks. It made all the difference in the world and set the tone for a super fun session."

ECHOZ, Z5000 + ZVERB - Tip Top Audio FX - Sonic LAB

sonicstate

"Tip Top Audio have released three DSP FX modules in 8HP - the ECHOZ, Z5000 and ZVERB. These Stereo FX modules feature newly developed DSP FX plus some taken from their flagship FX the Z-DSP.

Priced at £190/$200, they each have Time, Filter, FB/Mod and Fidelity which are assigned per algorithm to create the most tweakable parameters. All modules feature mono in/stereo out, 24 algorithms, selectable via three backlit bank buttons. It is not possible to store settings, but CV inputs are available to control Fback, Time/Fidelity and Filter. Though it sadly is not possible to clock the modules for delay or modulation sync.

Modules are available in black or white variants.

Edd gives them a musical work out and finds the sweet spots."

Moog Subharmonicon Semi-Modular Synthesizer Sounds (with DFAM)

Published on May 11, 2020 Perfect Circuit

"The Moog Subharmonicon has been anticipated since it was the synth built during the 2018 Moogfest Engineering Workshop. It is finally here as a production synth with a few upgrades from the Moogfest version. This production version has midi, a built in quantizer, more envelope controls and a slightly different sequencer section.

The Subharmonicon is built around divider circuits. There are two VCOs that each have two dividers that output frequencies between the base frequency 1/1, an octave below 1/2, an octave and a fifth below 1/3, two octaves below 1/4, two octaves and a fourth below 1/5, all the way down to four octaves below 1/16. The two oscillators and the four subdivisions can be mixed together into six note chords that span multiple octaves, the oscillators then of course go through a Moog ladder filter. There are a pair of envelopes for the VCA and VCF.

The sequencing also works with subdivisions of the tempo clock, there are four dividers that divided the master clock from 1/1 to 1/16 in integer divisions. These four dividers can trigger the envelopes and clock the two four step sequencers. The sequencers can then modulate the pitch of the two main VCOs, or select which divisions the subdividers are set to. Since the Subharmonicon is semi-modular its has a patch bay where different signal and control routing setups can be experimented with. The patch bay also makes connecting the Subharmonicon to a Mother 32, DFAM, or any other semi-modular or eurorack synth easy.

In this video we showed a combination of the Subharmonicon by itself as well as with a DFAM for percussion and with a Cooper FX Outward V2. The sidechain style patch at 5:09 uses a Ritual Electronics Anima Function generator to create the sidechain envelope and the Subharmonicon is going through a Tiptop Echoz delay module.

Superbooth 20HE: Tiptop Audio - Z5000, ZVERB and ECHOZ

Published on Apr 25, 2020 sonicstate

"At Superbooth this year Tiptop Audio would have been presenting their latest line of effects modules. Z5000 Multi-Effects, ZVerb and EchoZ. All of these modules are 8HP in size and offer a mono input to stereo output. Each module also contains 24 different effects algorithms that cover a range of different effects. We missed them last year at Superbooth so we are happy to showcase them here in our SB at home edition…

Z5000 - The original Z5000 was released all the way back in 2008, oh how things have changed in the last 12 years… Eurorack is currently awash with different effects module, but with Tiptop Audio’s heritage developing algorithms for their ZDSP platform the new Z5000 has some good legs to stand on; giving you a bunch of TTA’s favourite reverbs, delays, modulation, harmonization and pitch modulated effects.

ZVERB - is a collection of all new algorithms developed by Tiptop, these range from typical reverbs to more complex effects combining delay and pitch shifting too. All the effects are grouped by decades, so if you’re into gated reverbs you’ll find them in the 80s bank…

ECHOZ - covers a whole range of different delay effects, from dirty tape saturated delays to pristine digital delays and modulated delay madness….

All of the effects have CV control over 3 of the parameters."

Bastl & Casper Electronics Waver - Eurorack Wavewarping Mixer

Published on Feb 10, 2020 Perfect Circuit

"Following the no-input mixer-inspired module Dark Matter, the newest collaboration between Casper Electronics and BASTL Instruments is Waver: an experimental mixer which allows for crossfading, wavefolding, square shaping, ring modulation, and feedback in order to create edgy mixes more than the sum of their inputs.

In this video, the WMD Crater, Intellijel Plonk, and Mutable Instruments Plaits are combined through the Waver. The Waver's impact ranges from warm coloration to explosive wavefolded blasts and biting high end—making for something with considerably greater sonic depth than the average mixer. A Tiptop Echoz rounds out the signal chain, while a Winter Modular Eloquencer and Intellijel Quadrax provide finely-tuned sequencing and control."

Tiptop Audio - D'N'B

Published on Jan 29, 2020 Tiptop .Audio

"In this patch, there are two Circadian Rhythms.

The output of channel 1, on the first Circadian, controls the clock of the second Circadian, like a clock divider.

By changing the clock (bpm) in a track, we can switch the genre of music.

The second Circadian controls the Tiptop drum elements (BD909, HATS909, HATS808, SD909, SD808) the Z4000 envelopes, and the Z8000 cv sequencer that controls all the CV parameters.

The Tiptop Audio FX modules (ECHOZ, ZVERB, Z5000 and ZDSP), add delay and echoes, giving a sense of space.
Enjoy!"

WMD Eurorack Drum Machine With The New Crater Kick Drum + Tiptop Audio Effects Modules

Published on Dec 27, 2019 Perfect Circuit

"This jam pairs WMD's Metron, their full arsenal of drum modules, Mutable's Plaits, and Tiptop's new ZVERB and ECHOZ effect modules to create a heavy-hitting drum machine in just 104hp of space. With the recent introduction of WMD's Crater, we needed to see just how huge a WMD drum machine could sound.

WMD's four drum modules work in tandem to produce an entire kit's worth of unique, articulate, and highly detailed percussion sounds. Chimera produces metallic sounds using a purpose-built granular engine pre-loaded with samples of everyday objects; Fracture uses a similar engine for scattered, particulate tones. Crucible is a physically-modeled cymbal module, capable of producing sound ranging from realistic ride cymbals to impossibly large metal sheets. Crater, the newest member of the WMD drum family, utilizes a combination of analog and digital components to produce huge, powerful kicks with the impact of a 909 but the body of an 808.

Tiptop's ZVERB and ECHOZ provide tailored versions of effects from their years of development on the Z-DSP multi effect module, while the Metron keeps everything moving while the MSCL glues the mix together."

ECHOZ, ZVERB, Z5000 Tiptop Audio Multi Effects Modules

Published on Nov 20, 2019 Tiptop .Audio

"ZVERB, ECHOZ and the Z5000 are powerful stereo DSP effects modules in a compact 8HP panel. Although only 8HP in size, all controls are immediately available with clear labeling, making them quick, comfortable and easy to use. Each button accesses a bank of different effects types for up to 24 effects per module.

These effects are a blend of newly developed programs and ones carefully selected from Tiptop’s library of hundreds of effects created over 10 years for the classic Z-DSP processor module. While the effects algorithms play a major role in making these modules sound impressive, an internal analog clock circuitry drives the DSP chip adds to the lush and warm audio processing. With ZVERB, ECHOZ and the Z5000, Tiptop Audio effects have never been so accessible."

Note, this is the first post to feature the ZVERB.

"ZVERB is a collection of all new reverb algorithms developed by Tiptop ranging from typical reverbs to more complex effects that combine delay and pitch shifting with reverb. The effects are grouped by decades based on either the era an algorithm was introduced or the time when the effect was most popular. This variety of reverbs covers small to epic size spaces with the addition of shimmering, feedback tunneled pitch shifting, tape delay drivers, gated reverbs and a lot more. Analog clocking of the DSP chip and CV over the parameters enables even more experimentation. This is a collection inspired by the best from the past right at your fingertips."

The ZVERB is also available in black.
