Live Eurorack Modular Set Patch Test

YouTube Published on Sep 13, 2012 by Joey Blush

"Testing out my patch for the Muffwiggler modular meetup happening on September 16th, 2012 at The Cave in Chapel Hill, NC.

Make Noise DPO provides the bass, Rene on the sequencing, maths is master clock, phonogene provides the barebacking, Intellijel Rubicon provides the kick, Synth Tech E350 provides the high synths. all summed into a mutamix. Also featuring the WMD synchrodyne, 4ms PEG, Gamma Wave Source, etc... the list could go on.

All done live on the modular, no computers involved.

This is just a quick test to preview some of the sounds you may be hearing if you attend."

PERfourMER mkii sequenced by Sonicware Liven XFM

video upload by ChrisLody

"Here's a quick and dirty jam on a borrowed Vermona PERfourMER MK2. I've been working at a studio/synth cave recently that I'm hoping to share more information on soon. Long story but there is an enormous amount of gear there and it's my job to learn the technical ins and outs of all of it. There is some huge modular racks that won't be going anywhere but some of the smaller pieces of gear I can learn at home, like this.

The PERfourMER mk2 is pretty unique (apart from when comparing it to the mk1 of course!) in that it' can be used as 4 separate monosynths on 4 separate midi channels, through duophonic modes, up to a 4 voice polyphonic synth though with individual settings per voice as they cycle through.

In this jam I have it set to monophonic per voice that I have synths 3 & 4 set to the same midi channel. The Sonicware Liven XFM is a 4 part multitimbral synth but it can also sequence external gear on 4 tracks and 4 different midi channels so the two are a good match. I've kept one channel back on the XFM to play drum sounds, then I'm using a track to trigger synths 3 & 4 to make brassy pad sounds, a track for an arpeggio and a track for a lead. If I get time before I take his back I'll record something in polyphonic mode as it can get pretty lush sounding!"

Chris Meyer's Alias Zone: The Cave

video upload by Learning Modular

"This performance premiered on April 1 2022 as part of @SynthFest France. It’s a mythical, musical exploration of the Lod Cave in Thailand, with the various musical parts rushing off to explore its various chambers and celebrate its mystery and beauty, while others are more apprehensive and suggest caution.

More music by Alias Zone: https://aliaszone.bandcamp.com

In this piece, Chris Meyer plays:
Pandora’s Box (modular synthesizer)
Ableton Live
Korg Wavestation and Arturia Pigments virtual synthesizers
cave ambience by Marcel Gnauk of FreeToUseSounds
wordless vocals by Holly Drummond via Black Octopus
graphical treatments: Trish Meyer"

Cave Giants

davidryle

"A live performance with the 5U large format modular synthesizer.

Starting with an Encore Electronics frequency shifter and Yusynth Arp 4072 filter. Modulations to the frequency shifter from a Sputnik WCRS, and an Ian Fritz DDVCO in harmonic sequence mode.

The bass sequence is driven by the STG Soundlabs suite with two VMS and one TMS, a pair of EG's, a Switch module and the Time Divider. Clock timing from Cubase via dinsync to the Time Buffer. Four synthesizers.com Q106's into a Q150 transistor ladder filter and an Oakley SVF.

The melodic sequence is a pair of Q960 sequencers to a pair of Q106's through an STG Sea Devils filter and Q107 SVF.

The percussive tick sound is a Sputnik voltage controlled slope.

Delays and reverbs include Behringer DD400's, Empress reverb, Strymon Blue Sky, Electro Harmonix Canyon, TipTop DSP with Valhalla Shimmer and Modcan 73B.'

Cave Birds (Modular Synth Soundscape)

Published on Oct 21, 2016 Autotross

"This patch started with my wife and I creating some bird calls as a learning exercise.

The Q960 sequencer is triggered with a key press and does a little 3-step chirp - some random pitch sample and hold is also added in. More randomness is added to the Corsynth Dual Loopable Envelope's attack & decay, which controls the Synthcube SEM filter.

We then added some white noise wind filtered by the Corsynth Lowpass Filter, which is swept randomly by the same sample and hold (with a bit of slew).

Finally, rainy drip-drops come straight out of the Mutable Instruments Braids (MU version by FSFX) via the Particle algorithm.

And that's it, Cave Birds. Enjoy!"

Into The Cave. Pitsburg Filter, MFB Urzwerg Pro, 4ms PEG.

Published on May 4, 2013 SoloStuff·9 videos

"I actually did this a while ago, but never posted it anywhere. A simple patch testing my euro modular which is now quite a bit larger. This was recorded in raw, direct from speaker to my crapy camera mic!!.

I personally think that Urzwerg Pro is one of the best if not the best sequencers you can get out there for that price. Plus, it's portable, so you can use it with other things, plus it saves you rack space."

Modular Show

Published on Sep 20, 2012 by ISOTROPOSPHERE

"This was a patch mostly exploring the uses of the Make Noise Rene module.
After connecting with friends on facebook that I met at the Muff Wiggler Cave show in Chapel Hill the patch progressed into a kind of tribute to those who performed, which I missed.
This is also showing off my modular cabinets which I designed and fabricated as if I had brought them down for all to see. I don't know how Vince Mecanikill does it, his system is HUGE."

Leaving Plato's Cave

Published on May 25, 2013 davidryle·109 videos

"A Generative Modular Synthesizer Piece.
A lot of hard sync, soft sync, FM, AM and a little RM going on with twelve VCO's here. Set against a pure triangle wave melodic duet. All pitch data is automatic from LFO's, AR's and Noise/S&H within the modular.
Kind of like there are more things happening behind the scenes than what appear as shadows on the wall in front."
