Gimme Some (Kick) Drum by Blue Lantern Modules || Full Walkthrough and Sound Demo

video upload by Robots Are Red

"GSDrum, or Gimme Some Drum, or Gimme Some Kick Drum is a 10 hp drum synthesizer module. It really shines as a kick module, but can do other drum sounds such as toms or something out of the syncussion, or act as a bass synth tracking it 1v/oct. This is not a typical kick oscillator using the 'Twin T' approach, GSDrum uses a v/oct tracking triangle core VCO with an OTA based VCA. There is CV control for the trigger of course, along with v/oct tracking, Linear FM, and VCA accent inputs. The Timbre knob shapes the oscillator starting at a sine wave, to a triangle wave, all the way to an overdriven square wave. Influenced by the Korg ER-1 drum synthesizer. The accent input can simulate midi velocity or drive your sound even more. "Part of the 'Gimme Some' series. Gimme Some Drum....

What does this module do?

This module is a complete mini synthesizer that specializes in making analog kick drum sounds.

This product does not use a "Twin T" approach to make it's drum kick sound. This is using an actual 1v/octave

triangle core vco, and ota based vca. The shaper circuit that converts a triangle wave into a sine wave was brought to the front panel. The shaper knob was calibrated to start its shaping at the beginning of a sine wave, and end with an overdriven square wave.

This parameter is called 'Timbre'.

This product can produce a wide variety of ultra generic analog kick drum sounds.

Influenced by the Korg ER-1 drum synthesiszer, but laid out in an analog fashion.

-toggle switches are connected to 'timing' capacitors. You can select decay legnths on the fly.

-Depth Knobs let you precisely dial in how much punch, and loudness you want.

-Accent input lets you simulate 'Midi' velocity but with a positive CV input signal. This makes the Amplifier go louder in volume.

This is basically a CV input for the VCA circuit.

-POP parameter creates a clicky sounding, short audible pulse.

All the internal circuitry was optimized for drum kick. You really can't goof up and not make a percussive sound.

All you need is a triggering signal.

Internally Pre-Patch Products: OTA Triangle Core VCO + Sine Wave Shaper + Assist Percussion Utility

Big time savings!"

"Time Intertwines" Arturia Microfreak, Minifreak, Moog Matriarch, AudioThing Noises

video upload by Vöstok-one

"Time Intertwines,

In the morning’s chill, in the evening’s light,
Each step a stride towards hope’s height,
On the shores of the lake, where time intertwines,
Where the world’s beauty ever shines.

May the wind carry our fleeting fears away,
And may the lake whisper in our ears,
The secrets of dreams yet to be found,
On the path to tomorrow’s hallowed ground.

I hope you will enjoy this song as much as I had fun playing it."

50 Tempera Custom Patches [Bank 1] by synth_nyc

You can find hi-res demos on https://synthnyc.com

Some info on the set via synth_nyc

"As with my Kaivo custom patches, this sound bank only uses Factory Samples.

The Tempera has several workflows. I’m focussing my sound bank on having the Tempera sound generated by an external keyboard (Emitters are configured in ’Toggle’ placement mode), and also on having tonal patches.

The way Beetlecrab Audio implements granular synthesis is very interesting IMHO, it really shines in generating controlled random sounds (!), I mean it creates easily a rhythm or pattern if you’d like in the patch, but with random changes. A bit like a random ARP would do on a chord. The result is very musical IMHO. If you add that this randomness can be placed in the stereo field (L/R or Center/Middle) with some Jitter (or not). And that you can scan tracks vertically (Y) and / or several tracks horizontally (X) - up to 8 with up to 4 Emitters; the possibilities are endless.

Many of my patches scan tracks vertically (Y) only as I found that already creates a great novel soundscape, but several patches scan several tracks horizontally as well (that’s the ones with a XY suffix in the Patch Name)

It would be possible to create some of this controlled randomness if you were to use Korg Wave Sequencing 2.0 and add some randomness to each Step using the Probability parameter, but you would not be able to go as far as the Tempera.

The most interesting results IMHO are with samples that present spectral changes (across time) or temporal changes (gap, etc…) across time and with a fixed pitch. Though I’ve used some samples that had pitch changes (the FX is also interesting) and no (clear) pitch.

Lastly, unlike my experience with other synthesis where I can hear in my head the sound result before adjusting a parameter, with Beetlecrab Audio implementation of Granular Synthesis, sometimes the result is unpredictable (at least to me) but often musical."

Xaoc Devices LEIBNIZ #6 / ROSTOCK / delay and loop 8 bits of information / extensive playthrough

video upload by BRiES

"'ROSTOCK by Xaoc Devices should not be taken lightly' is what I figured out while making this video. ROSTOCK can be easily mistaken for just being a delay, but the patch ideas (provided in the manual of ROSTOCK) prove that with some creative insight you can use ROSTOCK for much more somewhat unexpected and useful things.

This video is a slow burn. I start of by proving that high-fidelity audio rate delay is probably not the strongpoint of ROSTOCK, but just like me there will probably be a lot of people hoping that they can still get away with using it as such. That's why I spend a generous amount of time showcasing this feature of the module. I demonstrate and explain how the clock works on ROSTOCK and how to use the seperate clock inputs, as well as exploring the loop and scramble features of the module. Afterwards I go into detail about the patches provided in the manual of ROSTOCK and you'll soon see that this is where ROSTOCK really shines: auto-generative waveforms, patching up a trigger/gate sequencer or 1-bit multi-tap delay, creating chaos and looping melodies, ... ."

Exploring the Korg Polysix: Vintage Synth Magic

video upload by Ian Dixon

"The Korg Polysix, a 6-voice poly synth launched in 1981 for £899 / $1095, aimed to deliver an affordable polyphonic analog synthesizer experience. Featuring the DDM2044 4-pole VCF, also found in the Mono/Poly and Trident, its filter was used in notable synths like the PPG Wave 2.2/2.3, Emu Emulator, and early Fairlight models. With a single oscillator per voice, offering Saw, Pulse, Pulse Width, and a sub-oscillator, the Polysix's sonic palette is rich.

Noteworthy are the single ADSR envelope for the filter and amplifier, and the VCA's gate mode. Modulation features for the VCO, VCF, and VCA, along with a delightful delay on the MG (Korg's LFO), contribute to its unique sound. The Ensemble and Chorus effects add movement, creating a timeless sonic experience. While pre-MIDI, it boasts CV/Gate and an arpeggiator. Save your patches via the cassette interface with 32 memory slots.

If you're eyeing a Polysix, beware of potential circuit damage from leaked batteries. Experience it virtually through the Korg Collection.

The Polysix's influence extends to modern synths like the Korg Modwave and Wavestate, both featuring Polysix-modeled filters. The Modwave excels at creating Polysix-type sounds (grab my free Polysix collection for the Modave).
https://thedigitallifestyle.com/w/202...

Used by Tears for Fears, Geoff Downes, Eat Static, Astral Projection, Jimi Tenor, Global Communications, Kitaro, Robert Rich, and Keith Emerson, the Polysix shines in synthwave and retro synth music.

Hologram Chroma Console + Great Conjunction generative synth - every effect isolated NO TALKING shhh

video upload by Arman Bohn

"Just giving some love to a brand new Hologram Chroma Console. My Great Conjunction prototype just came in today, and I decided to set up a simple, generative patch and play with each effect on the chroma console.

I didn’t get into too many of the shift menus. Just a brief exploration of what each effect does in the context of a pretty, basic synth sound.

This thing really shines when you start adding the effects together and get into some of the deeper features of motion capture.

I may even dust off the guitar and plug it in, who knows!

mutable opt touch synth "LICHEN"

video upload by ultra cacophony

2022 ulcasiva" Googlish:

"LICHEN is a synthesizer that is equipped with 5VCO, 4LFO, 5VCA, a reconfigurable touchpad, transmits audio via light, and is composed of a nonlinear fully discrete circuit including a single VCA.

First of all , I wanted to make a synth with only a jack hole (I'm sure it would be beautiful), but I ran into the wall that not being able to set constant values, which is normally the responsibility of a POT, was too much of a constraint for a synth.

Therefore, we came up with a structure that combined a plug and an LED, which we later named "peg." A peg is a structure that illuminates the underside with an intensity that corresponds to the voltage supplied from the jack. is equipped with a light sensor, and the inserted peg rotates freely, so the amount of light hitting the sensor changes depending on the rotational position

The peg transmits a signal using infrared rays, but the signal It glows even in visible light (so it can be used indoors in bright places). The light always shines in two directions, causing mutual interference when operated.Depending on the angle of light, there are 3 types (60°, 120°, There are pegs (180°), and the tone is determined by which peg you insert and where.

The peg is a structure that transmits light, and at the same time it is also a touch plate. By touching the metal part on the top, you can It transmits the signal through a resistor.

With the introduction of PEG, the 3.5mm jack has taken on a huge number of roles
・As a regular patching point
・By rotational movement Functions like a POT to set up
・Reconfigurable touch plate
・Converts and transmits audio signals to light
・Pedestal for placing 5mm LED
And so on...

>This synthesizer rethinks the possibilities of the common interface of the 3.5mm jack

"Very rare and majestic sounding two oscillator analog poly synth from the golden age of synthesizers. Three sections (synthesizer + brass + strings) that can be mixed together for the thickest, richest sounds possible. Really shines at doing pads and string sounds but also can be excellent for bass & lead synth as well (though more limited than comparable analog poly synths like Yamaha CS series, Oberheim, etc.). Tons of in/out routing capability. A standalone LFO can really bring this thing to another level (I used a moog moogerfooger ring mod).

This guy has it's bumps and bruises, some brackets on the wood cheeks, plus some tape gunk left over but it's what inside that counts.

Completely serviced and re-traced by local synth repair guru Gerry Dahl in 2017. He replaced the dead & leaky battery and repaired all the boards. It's run well ever since.

The factory patches have been wiped but you can program your own sounds."

NightRider by Ryk Modular

video upload by Cinematic Laboratory

"Night Rider is a quad resonant filter with a built in sequencer. It has four bandpass filters that can be used in parallel and serial configurations, a mono allpass filter in two flavors and an amazing karplus strong mode.
It works in many configurations, but it has a strong preference for more complex sources and abolutely shines with something big and polyphonic like Vector Wave or Knobula's Poly Cinematic. While this may seem as a 'too many options' module, you can easy find your way after getting lost in a patch or two. Absolutely stunning module."

"Vintage Suzuki TO-37R POLYPHONIC electric keyboard and drum machine. Three basic keyboard sounds which can be pressed simultaneously for interesting tones. For example- strings and flute combo produces a gnarly overdrive sawtooth. The built in analog drum machine is capable of the same multi patching. Two can be press in creating really interesting and playable rhythms. This keyboard shines in front of a delay and reverb!

DISCLAIMER:

The volume pods are a little scratchy which is expected for a 50 year old synth. The rear output jack is inoperable. It could probably be fixed simply but that’s beyond my scope. I always used the headphone jack as an output which works equally well. The built in speaker is really nice but I wouldn’t push it too hard."

Dive into the enthralling world of synthesizers and witness O Z Hall's outstanding entry, "Zebra Synth", in the Synthesizers.com Composition Contest. Crafted with unparalleled precision and technique, this remarkable composition combines an array of captivating sounds that will take you on a breathtaking sonic journey.

Hall masterfully utilizes three distinctive patches in "Zebra Synth" to create an immersive soundscape. The first patch features a drone made using a Q106A oscillator, which is meticulously processed by a wave folder. Another oscillator, intertwined with linear FM from the wavefolder output, results in a fascinating "clang tone" that is beautifully amplified by a digital reverb.

In the second patch, a sequenced voice is artfully produced by employing two re-paneled Q106 oscillators. One output is channeled into the input of the linear FM, which subsequently provides intriguing timbral variations. The Q119A sequencer's 3rd row masterfully controls a Ratchet effect, adding even further depth to the composition. An expertly-applied digital delay effect enriches the output of this patch.

Lastly, the lead voice is ingeniously designed using the Q169 Dual Oscillator with Pulse Width modulation. O Z Hall skillfully manipulates the 24db/oct low pass filter in real-time to deliver an electrifying performance. The extended digital delay effect ties the entire sonic experience together.
O Z Hall's "Zebra Synth" draws its arsenal of modular synthesis tools from the Synthesizers.com catalog, including Q106, Q106A, Q119A, Q171, Q148, Q127, Q169, Q168, Q167, Q114, Q174, and Q175A modules. The creative process has been meticulously executed, showcasing how these modules can be combined to engineer a rich and dynamic sound adventure.
