Update via soundform in the comments: "Holly crap! It's not an "analogue" synth - it's a fully digital soviet bullshit. Very heavy and sounds like piece of shit. 495$ ??? It costs 30$ max here in Ukraine."

According to ruskeys.net it is indeed digital. You'll find additional info there. Be sure to see the video link above for a bit of what it sounds like.

"The earliest and arguably best sounding version of the infamous Waldorf Microwave. This REV A model shipped with the analog Curtis CEM 3389 filters.

This unit is in excellent condition with very minor blemishes, hard to believe that it's over 30 years old! All electrolytic capacitors on the PCB have been updated, so it should last another life time.

Includes 4 RAM cards for storing extra sounds which essentially expand the available sound patches to 128.

Running the final operating system 2.0, made in Germany (with love).

OCTAVE CATSTICK synth controller

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"ULTRA-RARE and fully working Octave-Plateau CATSTICK synth controller in amazing condition !
The original ad described it simply as :
"The better alternative to wheels, ribbons, pressure pads, knobs, sliders and pedals for any patchable synthesizer"
Built by OCTAVE-PLATEAU Electronics Inc. in New York City.
The unit runs on 110 volts and comes with an adaptor to make it work with European 220 voltage.
PATCHING
WHAT IS IT ?
The CATSTICK is a very powerful precision, spring-loaded joystick controller that lets one hand control four different modulation settings - 1 for each of the 4 joystick directions. By moving the stick off axis, combination modulations of different proportions are possible. When the stick is released, it springs back to its vertical, zero modulation position.

HOW DO YOU USE IT ?
For portable synthesizers, like the CAT, ODYSSEY or MINIMOOG - to quote a few - you can connect the CATSTICK outputs to the VCO, VCF or VCA inputs normally intended for footpedal controls. This lets you use the CATSTICK LFOs and control voltages to modulate the synthesizer as the joystick is moved. In patchable systems like the ARP 2600 or Modular MOOG, you can connect the CATSTICK VCAs in series with patchcords to allow real-time control of synthesizer patches.

WHO CAN USE IT ?
If you own a MINIMOOG, CAT, KITTEN, ODYSSEY, 2600, OBERHEIM, ROLAND, MODULAR SYSTEM or any other synthesizer with control voltage inputs, the CATSTICK is for YOU !

VERSATILITY
Included are 4 VCAs (each externally accessible), 2 wide-range LFOs with rate LED monitors, and a complete internal voltage processing system. The 20-jacks rear panel patch bay allows access to all of the internal control voltage signals and makes the CATSTICK a versatile addition for both performance-oriented and studio synthesis systems.

Not only the CATSTICK is a very powerful hands-on performance controller but it also is a very, VERY rare collector's item. You almost never see them for sale. So this is your chance to get hold of an exceptional piece of gear..."

Miss America Oberheim OB-Xa Synthesizer - 8 Voice - Original Owner - 120 Programs

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Original Factory Programs have been reinstalled, so you are getting the original Oberheim patches that came with the instrument... OBXa was recently overhauled in November 2016 by one of the top classic synth restoration guys in the US located in Tampa, FL. Paper work on the overhaul will ship with the instrument. It didn't need much because it's been maintained in my studio constantly.

Originally, I bought my OBX-a in September 1982 to play the Miss America Pageant '82 TV Show in Atlantic City.
Immediately after that I moved the synth to the Bally Casino in AC to play the "Legends in Concert" show.
I was on that show for a several months. Since the fall of 1983 my OBXa has lived happily in my studio except for normal maintenance and tune up.

I am not a smoker.
I don't let anyone smoke in my studio.
This machine has been in a climate controlled smoke free environment all it's life."

Cherry Audio Mercury-4 - Sound Bank '79

video upload by Polydata

"Patches for an excellent sounding instrument. Drawing from the earliest days of polyphonic synthesizers, Sound Bank ‘79 for the Cherry Audio Mercury-4 finds its inspiration in synthesizer music found in documentaries and library music from the late 70’s and early 80’s.

A bank comprising 30 patches for instant inspiration. The goal was to squeeze as much vintage analog juice out of this plug-in as possible, primarily working within the constraints of the original Roland Jupiter-4 analog poly synth. I honestly never payed much attention to the Jupiter-4, but this plug-in sounds insanely good, it's one of my favorites now. And the included Roland Space Echo emulation sounds superb.

Sound Bank '79 is a series of vintage tones for different synths and plug-ins, so look out for future releases. Recorded completely dry with no external effects or processing.

"Oh Morpheus, you're awesome ... don't change a thing! :)

Stupidity aside Morpheus is killer. A really impressive bit of kit that I honestly feel could offer something for everyone depending on what you're looking to do. There's so many potential applications with input sources a such a wide range of filters and their 3 controls. The on board sequencer can be vast and equally powerful.

Here's the noise video [posted here] I've mentioned at several points showing more filter modes shaping noise. As noise (white noise at least) by nature is broadband it shows off the filters well."

Roland JD-800 Synthesizer SN ZC43655

Note: Auction links are affiliate links for which the site may be compensated.

via this auction

"Edit VOICE main core H8532 (at IC36) manages up to 24 voice or digital oscillators polyphony.

A single patch is composed by a 4 PCM layer by the JD "WG" wave generator - each layer with individual parameters such as:

- level mix
- pitch coarse and fine
- pitch random amount
- key follow modes.

Roland calls Linear Arithmetic synthesis, a technique Roland had been using to great effect in the Roland D-50. The JD-800 has 108 waveforms built-in, but these can be expanded via PCM-cards. There are waveforms in a variety of categories, like; analog synth, acoustic instruments, like guitars, woodwind, brass and voices. Most of these waveforms are very short and are designed to give character to the attack portion of a sound, while some longer ones are designed for creating pads, or the sustained part of a patch. The JD-800 was the first instrument from Roland to have its core sound set of waveforms developed entirely in the United States, under a short-lived branch of Roland's R&D-LA office in Culver City, California. The core sampled waveforms and Factory presets of the JD-800 were created by Eric Persing.[2]

A patch, or single sound, in the JD-800 consists of up to 4 tones. As every tone consists of an almost completely independent synthesizer voice a patch could be considered a layer of up to 4 different synthesizers. In single mode the JD-800 plays one patch at a time, but in multi mode it is possible to play 5 different patches, over MIDI, plus an extra "special" patch. The special patch has different waveforms assigned to the 61 different key on the keyboard, so is used for drums and percussion sounds. The JD-800 has one effects section. In single mode 7 effects can be used simultaneously, in series, so all tones in a patch go through the same effects. In multi mode 3 effects can be used at the same time, all patches sharing the same effects, though a patch can be routed to bypass the effects."

An Interview with Barry Schrader

Hi everyone! As you know Barry Schrader will be giving his farewell concert at CalArts on September 26. The following is the beginning of my interview with him. I opted to post the questions and answers as they come in.  New QAs will get a new post so you do not miss them and they will be added to this post so we have one central post for the full interview. This should make it easier for all of us to consume in our busy lives, and it will allow you to send in any questions that may come to mind during the interview process.  If you have anything you'd like to ask Barry, feel free to send it in to matrixsynth@gmail.com.  This is a rare opportunity for us to get insight on a significant bit of synthesizer history, specifically with early Buchla systems, and I'd like to thank Barry for this opportunity. Thank you Barry!
