Tiptop Audio Systems - patch 8

Published on Feb 19, 2015 Tiptop .Audio

"Two systems, actually one and a half, the second system is only half full. Two Z-DSPs and few Z3000 and the beautiful Halls of Valhalla. One DragonFly delay is VC over time from the Z8000, All sounds are played from the Circadian Rhythms, and one MIXZ mixes everything before hitting the z-DSPs. Coming out of the systems with two stereo pairs from the Z-DSPs and one mono from the BD909. There are two Z2040, one for each of the sounds played, and modulated at audio rate by a Z3000. At the center of the black system are two Quantizer prototypes that I’m using in Keyboard mode."

New Tiptop Audio Quantizer & Circadian Rhythm Eurorack Modules in the Flesh

Two pics via StromKult I believe from the recent workshop in Berlin.

"The circadian rhythm will be a very complex step sequencer with 8 by 8 plus 8 multi colored buttons and more that makes it very easy to use as Konstantin Gervis could show live in a workshop at Central Music around the corner now.

The second one was an even better looking module – the quantizer, that unfortunately could not have been explained too deep nor showed as good as the sequencer because the time became short. There was so many other hot stuff by tiptop audio to be explained and performed in the workshop, but we will check the remaining details very soon."

MakeNoise Mysteron - Retrometabolism

MakeNoise Mysteron - Retrometabolism from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"This patch was inspired from the Industrial Guitar Tones patch from the Mysteron Manual via (Walker Farrell (@VortexRanger). Instead of using a DPO in tune to a fth, or octave + above Mysteron I used a intelljiel quantizer, shifting through a 5 note scale, which was running into the Pitch1 input. The output was then put into a Synthesis Technology E580 resampling mini-delay, setting the offset time very low, while setting the feedback almost at 90%. Mix was set at 50%, while the offset CV control was being controlled by channel 1 output on the Modcan Quad LFO, which was being clocked by the SSF Ultra Random. The output from here was sent to the MakeNoise Erbverb reverb, that was being controlled by the seed out on the Animatter BrainSeed module, which was clocked from a SSF UltraRandom and using the A, A/B and B S&H outputs going into the "type", !!, "generation"and "depth" inputs. 4 note low bassline using one MakeNoise STO sequenced from one Brains and Pressure Points, running and /8 clocked speed from the A-160 Clock/Trigger Divider. Purple noise output creating the micro hi-hats triggered swing triplets via the 4ms QCD, and slow white noise rises from the SSF white noise output, controlled by a Dixie "triangle" wave output running and synced at a slow rate. Noise output then running into the Mungo d0 adding little glitches to the signal. The kick drum is the Tiptop 808 BD, set with a very short decay time, sequenced from channel 1 on the TriggerMan. Rich 4 part harmony chords recorded from a Roland Jupiter-6, and then played from the Qu-Bit Nebulae module triggered in time by a divided 32 from the doepfer A-160 to reset loop playback with the entire sequence. Reverb throws from multiplied output from Mysteron into the intelljiel HexVCA, channel 6 being opened by channel 4 random S&H output from the Modcan Quad LFO. Scattered single notes via the Mutable Instruments Braids triggered by the intelljiel "uscale", 16 note lowpass gate openings via the Optomix.

a loose wire cut off the audio a tad -- a negligible circumstance given the awesome patch ;)

Cheers!"

Audio drops on the right just after :11 at comes back in at 1:10. It's worth watching through.

"Malekko/Richter Megawave quantizer ROM.

deopfer LFO clocking a synthwerks PGM 4x4 output to deopfer sequential switch to get 8 steps (can get 16 but for this purpose 8 notes are plenty) CV out of the switch to the megawave.. out of megawave into CV in of bubblesound vcob.. audio = saw wave to tiptop Z2040 filter to intellijel linix VCA.

some modulation happens later via Livewire Vulcan Modulator and row 4 of the pgm 4x4.

this patch is just to show some of the quantizer scales in the quantizer ROM of the Megawave.

Horror Onward in Scary Mono.

YouTube Uploaded by MrRitchieDrums on Apr 28, 2011

"More experimenting with analog sequencers & quantizers. This one produced a scary piece."

Gear:
"Blacet Binary Zone is providing clock to the 4MS clock multipler. The first sound you hear is the MFOS rotary sequencer going to a Blue Lantern Black Jack VCO though a Polivoks filter, then the EHX Memory Boy Delay. TipTop Z8000 sequencer 4 vertical rows are receiving different 4ms clocks and going to 4 channels of the Synthesizers.com Quantizer modules to 4 Synthesizers.com VCOs through the Mattson VC Mixer, then finally to the STG Mankato Filter. The Z8000 16 steps are going to a COTK quantizer, then to MOOG Taurus III CV in. Finally 4 horizontal z8000 steps are going to the Hordijk OSC HRM through a Synthesizers.com filter also being fed Pink noise. All quantizers are set to Minor/scale & LOTS of LFOs are Here & There............... "

Intellijel μscale - quantized symmetry

Intellijel μscale - quantized symmetry from Richard Devine on Vimeo.

"The μscale module is a cv quantizer and musical interval generator. In this simple patch I am using four VCO's. Cwejman VCO-2RM, VM-1,harvestman piston honda, and hertz donut. Everything is being CV sequenced by the output of the μscale. Clocked from one mini ELF LFO to a Doepfer 160, 161 then out to a-151 quad sequential switch controlling the MakeNoise Brains, and two pressure points doing long slow sequences back into the CV and Shift input on the Intellijel μscale. The drums are coming from the cwejman BLD and NS-04 for the white noise snare, and high hats. Effects used TipTop Z5000, Z-DSP, and Doepfer A-187

A dark, scary place

BLeeDing shalm

"This patch-video might remind you at the "PLL Arabesque" video from boobtube356. And yes, indeed there is a PLL involved in this patch as well, but it's not the PLL forming the main character of this patch. You can see and hear that the PLL output initially comes in at about 1:00. What you hear before is just the output from the Cwejman BLD, nothing else (beside some reverb of course).
The BLD is being controlled by an A-155 sequencer. As the BLD has inputs for both Attack rates as well as for both of the Relase rates, these are being driven by a Doepfer A-143-1 Complex envelope generator running in AD-mode. The mixed output of this module also defines the first note of the A-155 sequencer.

The "arabesque" character of this patch mainly comes from a high glide setting of the A-155 sequencers Post-output. The shalm like sound is caused by proper setting of the BLD.

The intermittent "screaming distortion-like" effect is achieved by triggering the sequencer with a clock in audio range (the square output from the PLL) from time to time (switching between PLL-LFO and the A-154 internal clock using a A-150 VCS)."

Blubber Paule

"News from my KFEE (Klanglabor für experimentelle Elektronik).

This session has been performed and recorded without any Computer or MIDI-devices. Only some outboard equipment has been used on the final signal (compression and reverb).

Unfortunatly the cam's mic does not have a very good frequency range so the bassdrum has not been recorded very well.

The starting sound comes from a sequenced A-112 Wavetable Oscillator which will be faded out when the main sequence comes in. The main part of this patch is the combination of an A-155/A-154 Sequencer and Controller, a quantizer and a SQ8 Sequencer which is transposing the sequence by using the A-156' transpose input). The A-154 mode will be switched between forward and pendulum by a LFO. On top of this there is a Heisenberg generator which is responsible for changing the number of steps between 1 and 8 by random (very slowly of course).

If you are wondering whats in the lower left corner of the rack (which you can't see in the video): nothing more than a A-164-1 Manual Gate which is being used to reset the sequence manually (and to start/stop the sequencer itself).

The VCOs being used are two TipTop Audio Z3000. The first one is generating three different waveforms which are being mixed together. The second one is acting as a suboscillator. "

Z8000 Matrix Sequencer

via TipTop Audio via the Muff forum
"So here is the panel design, nothing is final, open to suggestion.

My goal, is to try and keep it as small as possible, and affordable.

What you see is a set of analog CV step sequencer with 4 sets of 4 step sequencer rows and columns.

But there are also two 16 step sequencer assignments at the bottom. the first one's sequential stages being A1-A2-A3-A4-B1-B2-B3-B4--C1-etc. the second one being A1-B1-C1-D1-A2-B2-C2-D2-A3-etc. as indicated by the graphic under each 16 stage CV out.

The white circles are bicolor leds, using bicolor LEDs the 4 stage sequencers will be assigned the color red while the 16 stage sequencer will be tracked visually by the color green.

The CVs will output 0-10V, that is good to control any CV input in the system like pitch, Cutoff etc etc but also high enough to fire Envelopes or to patch one sequencer to control the direction of another sequencer, clock it, rest it etc. And those sequencers can be clocked at audio rate.

The real fun will be to surround the Z8000 with a clock divider, Quantizer, and logic gates. It is a lot of fun to have sequencers running at different speeds and different directions using all those logic modules controlling them. I like to call it logic modulation."
