Additive synthesis is a sound synthesis technique that creates timbre by adding sine waves together. The timbre of musical instruments can be considered to consist of multiple harmonic or inharmonic partials or overtones. VirSyn already has a remarkable track record of products ( CUBE, POSEIDON ) trying to make this virtually unlimited synthesis method manageable for creative sound designers and musicians. AddStation is the next step forward giving you a tool to explore completely new sonic territory. "What it looks like when an iPad meets a 70's tape recorder! Amida is a vocoder infused progressive Dubstep track, heavily inspired by Tibetan monk throat-singing. I call it 'Monk Step' AmidA started as a remix of one of my earlier works named “Amitabha (Amitābha)” that I published four years ago. Yup it took four years to finish this "masterpiece". I’ve never taken so long to finish a track ever and I’m hoping I’ll never take this long with tracks in the future. Apps used in the production of this track: Steinberg Cubasis, KORG Gadget, Auxy, Virsyn Harmony Voice & iVoxel and more."

"Growing up, I used to listen to a radio show called Uncle Jamm's Army on KDAY back when it was on AM radio. The reception wasn't too good where I lived, but it never stopped me from tuning in each weekend. One of my favorite songs from that show was Twilight 22 - Electric Kingdom. There's a ton of samples in this song so this is my own rendition using synths that I programmed from scratch. Of course, the Roland Boutique TR-08 is used for the beat. Hope you enjoy it!

DreamsOfWires - Korg Arp Odyssey live improv w/ Arpeggist

"Just playing around with some old patterns from my other Arpeggist video - The Odyssey is receiving MIDI from Virsyn's Arpeggist and tweaked in realtime. The iPad is out of shot (on my lap!), but I'm triggering and transposing the two patterns manually, whilst recording the output into AUM. I've a habit of using a ton of reverb and syncopated delays, so I thought this time I'd just use a bit of reverb to allow people to hear the Odyssey more clearly.

I'm using an iConnectAUDIO4+ to handle audio and MIDI duties, and reverb is from Virsyn's AudioReverb.
Filmed with a LUMIX GX7 and an iPhone SE. I also added some of my gameplay footage from Half Life 2 as it seemed to fit the music better than the usual views out of train windows :P

This is a re-recording of a track I originally recorded in 2009 called 'The existing parts 1 and 2' (available on my Bandcamp page), only there's not much left of 'part 2' at this stage. It's a particularly cold, bleak little ditty, less melodic in the conventional sense than most of my efforts, but I was in the mood for re-visiting it. The first three minutes are borrowed from an earlier SH-1 composition I uploaded - [posted here]
The original of 'Existing' was recorded with the Oddity VST, although I can't remember what I used for the closing melody, or the percussive sounds. This version is stripped down to two live recordings - the final part is the Odyssey and a piano app (which will remain nameless) triggered simultaneously from the Arturia Keystep, which I subsequently crossfaded between in the final mixdown.
Recorded in AUM via an iConnectAUDIO4+, using Virsyn's AudoReverb on an iPad Air 2.
The video footage was all filmed by me, mostly using a Lumix GX7"

"A rough and simplified version of something I've been working on for the next 'album', performed live, and on this occasion with Patterning (iPad) providing percussion - I really like this app, yet despite owning it for a year I hadn't got around to using it in a recording. It's deliberately low in the mix, which probably won't translate well with YouTube audio compression and without headphones.
Reverb form Virsyn's AudioReverb, recorded in AUM.
Footage is of various beaches visited on two separate days at different ends of the country - Norfolk and Northumberland (UK)."

"Korg Arp Odyssey - Just a temporary visitor, but I'll try to make a couple of videos with it. I previewed a short, preliminary moment from it on Instagram, so here's what it mutated into. (Original clip: https://instagram.com/p/BUvBUCilbWU/)
This is a multitracked recording, done in a pretty slap-dash manner, but all sounds are from the Odyssey, plus some reverb from Virsyn's AudioReverb and Kymatica's AUFX: Space within an iPad via an iConnectAUDIO4+. The main melody was sequenced then 'tweaked' in real-time, everything else was played manually - I like keeping it organic.
Video footage is of Harwich and Felixstowe (UK) last autumn, filmed with a Lumix GX7 and an iPhone 5.
Any gear/software I haven't mentioned is because I don't want to :P Please don't ask. I don't make instructional videos, I'm no expert on anything, it's mostly just for my own pleasure, and hopefully of some enjoyment to others."

DreamsOfWires - Korg Volca Keys 'In the woods'

"I originally composed this track in late 2015, and recorded it on the beach at the same time as my Volca beach video, but the recording wasn't clear enough. Anyway, I fancied a walk in the woods, so I took the Volca and my camera. I thought there was something sinister about the place, like a scene from a budget horror flick, so it seemed fitting to record something less than pretty.

Recorded into AudioShare on an iPhone using a Line6 Sonic Port. The Volca's delay was used, and Virsyn AudioReverb added later.

DreamsOfWires - 'Setsuko' (AJH Synth Mini Mod & Roland SH-1)

"Recorded live, no overdubs or post-production. I've been watching a few lesser-known films of Setsuko Hara just recently, one of my favourite actresses, so I thought I'd make something very loosely inspired by her.

Initial sound is the SH-1, all subsequent sounds are from the Mini Mod.

Sequenced using Genome on an iPad, selecting patterns in real-time, into an Expert Sleepers FH-1 to control the SH-1 and 3 Mini Mod VCO's, each on independent midi channels in order to play multiple notes simultaneously.
Recorded into two channels using AUM on the iPad via an iConnectivity AUDIO4+ (which also sends MIDI to the FH-1) with Virsyn's AudioReverb as an insert effect.

The video editing isn't as good as I'd have liked, but my ancient PC makes it a laborious and sloppy task.
Please don't ask me to explain the recording in any more detail than this, thank you.
