Oakley Sound Systems Goes Eurorack

Oakley Sound has been known for their larger 5U/MU DIY projects. It looks like they are now entering eurorack.

"PCBs are available right now. Documentation is already available but I'll be adding more details on the construction side of things to the Builder's Guides over the next week or so.

I hope to port most of my 5U modules into Eurorack over the next year or two. As well as some newer ideas I want to build."

You can find details on their DIY Eurorack Synthesizer Projects page.

Pictured:

"The 8HP wide fixed filter bank is based on my own human voice module which was first released as a half rack project and then a 5U module some time ago. Those modules were originally based on the human voice presets of the VP-330. This time I've given each of the seven band pass filters its own level pot."

Groovesizer Theremon: Digital Theremin & MIDI Controller

Published on Jun 30, 2019 MoShang

via Groovesizer

"Theremon is a digital theremin and MIDI controller that you can either build from a kit, or order fully assembled. Like a traditional theremin, Theremon is played without physical contact with one hand controlling pitch, and the other volume. In the place of the two antennas found on a traditional theremin, Theremon features two time of flight sensors that accurately measure the distance of the player’s hands from the instrument."

This appears to be the CustomSynth G2X previously freatured here.

"RARE One-Of-A-Kind Nord Modular G2X - 61-Key version, custom finished by Jeff Toman of CustomSynth.uk I am the original owner of the perfect Nord G2X. It has been in cool dry room storage for the past 9 years... I decided to bring it back into my studio and check it out... the latest version of the editor works on an Apple MacBook Pro running version 1.62.

I have ALL of the original packaging, box, plastic wrap, brand new never even used Vocoder Mic that came with it. Printed hard copy of the full manual and the original editor disk showing version 1.24.

All screens are bright and clear, sounds amazing !!! Has all the "original factory sounds as of this typing... I never really changed anything, just played around with what was already on there."

Update via the comments: "WindJammer does not support the sysex implementation of the WT11, and as far as I remember does not have the secret edit menu available in the WT11"

You can find one previous post featuring the EW20 including a demo here.

"Even More Obscure Than the WT11: the EW20 “Wind Jamm'r Electronic Woodwind”

Not too many people remember this one. Released in 1989 and primarily marketed to high school band students, the EW20 was a Yamaha MIDI wind controller and wind tone generator (a.k.a wind synth) combo set. Neither the EW20 tone generator nor the wind controller where sold separately. The EW20 was actually marketed and sold by Yamaha's band instruments division and this probably has a lot to do with the fact that very few remember it.

The combo set was comprised of the Electronic Woodwind tone generator and a wind controller that was setup similarly to a recorder. Many people, including some from Yamaha, state the the EW20 tone generator is just a WT11 in a significantly less cool case. I have no way of knowing this for sure, but i do know that it was a basic Yamaha four op FM synth module.

The EW20 used a special controller cable to communicate with the tone generator. This cable/connector is NOT the same as the Yamaha WX connector (which in itself is a “special” connector), but rather a cable specific to just the EW20 rig. So if you run across one and consider buying it, definitely verify that the cable is working and in good condition. I'm sure the pin-out can be copied by someone but i would not want to go through the hassle. The EW20 tone generator does have MIDI in, out and thru. Because of this, you can certainly use the EW20 tone generator without the wind controller but keep in mind that you cannot hook a WX7, WX11 or WX5 directly into the EW20 tone generator. You would have to go through a BT7 or similar first and then output the MIDI."

" This came from the studio of a composer for Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco. It comes complete with the original manual and a cool travel case with blue lining. There are very minor blemishes from wear and tear. Definitely a nice piece to add to any studio collection.

Its a lovely synth capable of a lot of different sounds.
Don't be fooled about the fact that its a single oscillator synth.
You can double the sound and it have also a sub oscillator.
The routing possibilities are almost endless and unique."

"Build your own ARP 2600 synthesizer clone with the TTSH kit! This is a new in box TTSH rev. 3 panel and PCB set, just as I received them from Sweden. This is not a complete kit--you will need to source the components and parts to build it and an enclosure to house it (extensive documentation, Bill of Materials, and support is available online). This is a big project, but a rewarding one that yields really sweet results!

Photo of completed synthesizer is shown for reference only--again, this listing is just for the panel and PCB set."
