note the orage on the box matches the orange on the synth. And the curtains... and the... it's a cool shot.

"The Little Phatty is the late Bob Moog's last ingenius contribution to electronic music/the world.

I'd been researching analog synths for the past year and decided on the small but PHAT LP.

Thank you, Mom and Dad!"

BCM Welcomes Diabolical Devices and Class A Electronics

http://bigcitymusic.com
via the Big City Music blog
"We're very very excited to offer instruments from Diabolical Devices and their sister company Class A Electronics. Diabolical takes instruments like the Roland TR-707 drum machine, the Casio SK-1 and others and modifies them. Whether it's a pitch mod for every drum sound, or a banana plug patch bay for different bends, or an added LFO, these pieces come back from the dead!

Here's a picture of a circuit bent TR-7027. This is a Roland TR-707 that also has the sounds from a Roland TR-727. You can switch back and forth. All the drum sounds have pitch mods with knobs to control the bends. They also have three separate global bends and a cymbal delay bend. On the left there's a banana plug patch bay allowing you to link several bends at once creating some truly unique sounds.

Class A Electronics makes some incredible guitar pedals as well as small wattage tube amplifiers and more. Check back with us soon for the latest from these guys!"

a bouncing midi pattern generator
MonomeSerial prefix: /osc

A basic but fun take on Tenori-On Bounce Mode, put together as an overdue exercise in teach-yourself-monome. Requires monomeserial set to /osc. Should be good for 40h, 64s, 128s & 256s, plus has virtual interface for monome-less operation. Currently midi output only, and noteouts are adjustable from 0 to 127. Loads of fun with Ableton>Impulse (syncs to external host) and plays nicely in Max Runtime.

Includes a virtual 64 + 128 + 256 interface (see above and below)"

Ketron Solton Programmer 24 S - Arranger Keyboard

YouTube via zibbybone

"This crappy video is just a basic run-through of what works and doesn't work (to my knowledge) of this item that I am selling. Auction includes keyboard, bass pedal board and volume pedal. Several keys do not trigger (this is usually an easy fix). As for other functions, you're on your own. The strings sound quite nice, very reminescent of the ARP/Solina String Ensemble."
I'm not seeing it listed yet.

"Bringing vocal harmonization and vocoding to more compact places than ever before, Electro-Harmonix shows off the Voice Box at Winter NAMM 2009, which is great for all those late nights at the office or for all the countless situations where I've had to vocode on the go.

YouTube via AnalogAudio1. Video removed?: see this post.
HIGH QUALITY SOUND! Metalic case version. Played with digital delay
"This Syntorchestra is the metalic case version, wich looks very cool ;-). The design of it looks a bit like an ARP synth. It was often used by Klaus Schulze (on his album Moondawn), Vangelis, Ash Ra (Ashra). It is heard on many classic electronic music records in the seventies.
I played the syntorchestra with an digital delay. Enjoy!"

Talk by computer music pioneer Peter Zinovieff [London]

image via peterzinovieff on MySpace

This one in via fabio.

"Music and Geology or Geology, Electronic Music and Opera :: Wednesday February 4, 2009 :: 6:30 for 7:00pm :: London Knowledge Lab - Institute of Education :: 23 - 29 Emerald St, London WC1N 3QS, England :: Tube: Holborn, Russell Square or Chancery Lane :: Map:

The talk is about three enterprises of excellence that Zinovieff has been intimately involved in. He describes his making the first geological map of the Cuillins mountains in Skye (1958), the problems of his early computers (1960’s) in electronic music contrasted to some present day experiments (2008), and the preparation of his libretto for “The Mask of Orpheus” (1984) by Birtwistle.

He shows that these wildly different endeavours are not so dissimilar when it comes down to the nuts and bolts of their
actual creation.

The lecture of 40 minutes will be accompanied by archive videos, sounds and slides, as well as a display of rocks, pictures and electronic objects.

Peter Zinovieff is a pioneer of electronic and computer music. He is a British inventor of Russian ethnicity, most notable for his EMS company, which made the famous VCS3 synthesiser in the late ’60s. The synthesiser was used by many early progressive rock bands such as Pink Floyd and White Noise, Krautrock groups like Kraftwerk as well as more pop oriented artists, a good example being David Bowie.

Zinovieff also wrote the libretto for Harrison Birtwistle’s opera The Mask of Orpheus.

4 vids on triggering synths live with drumkits

via Stuff Linear/Amsterdam

"I have found some nice examples of the incorporation of synths and drumming.
In all the videos the drums trigger envelopes and/or drive the clock.
Mostly i notice people using the very versatile Nord Modulars for this kind of stuff.

This one is all analogue with Juno and Doepfer, by Analogueeak (he has several vids up, check m out)

This one is starring Andre Duracell playing the BubbleBobble Theme. He allso has several vids up. I chose this one because you see a bit of gear.
He uses the Nord G2 Engine and a laptop.

ARP Sequencer 1611

via this auction
"Lots of features make it stand out against other analog sequencers. For example the random function is interesting, it is able to skip steps(!), there are 3 gate busses(!), it can run at audio speed for use as a wave shaper(!), run as 1x16 steps or 2x8 steps, etc."

Moog 1150 Ribbon Controller

via this auction

"Original Moog Ribbon Controller. This fits nicely on your Minimoog (same width, there is a youtube video where you can see it on the mini above the keyboard). As you can see on the instruction sheet there are 2 modes: Mini and Sonic Six. It can probably be used for other synths too. It is powered by the Moog accessory output on the synth. Outputs for Pitch, S-trig and Aux control."

Korg MS-03 Pitch to CV & Ring Modulator

via this auction

"One of the rarer Signal processing boxes from the Korg MS-range. If you have MS-20, MS-10, MS-50, SQ-10 etc. then this would fit nicely. It can also be used in other setups as it features both V?Hz as wel as V/Oct outputs! Hook up your guitar or flute and play your synth with it... This one has been modified and now also has an internal ring modulator with signal mixer on the front."

Syntecno TeeBee mk3 Tb-303 clone 4x CV converter

via this auction
"As said the best sounding tb-303 clone and it has some other uses too. 4 cv/gate outputs for controling your vintage analog synths. Both v/oct AND v/hz CV, positive AND negative gate etc. so you can control moog, arp, roland as well as yamaha, korg etc. synths at the same time! There is a nice ring modulator and you can use it as a filter bank and route external audio thru its filters... Some handy midi features too, 2 midi merge inputs and a Din-sync output for syncing other gear like tr-808, tr-606 etc."

Roland MD-8 MD8 - Original Roland Juno/Jupiter Midi-DCB

Roland JSQ-60 Sequencer for Juno-60 Jupiter-8

via this auction

"The JSQ-60 is a polyphonic sequencer connectable with DCB synthesizers such as the JUNO-60 or the JUPITER-8.
Due to its large memory capacity of approximately 2,000 notes, the JSQ-60 can memorize a complete musical composition . The JSQ-60 can also memorize changes in the patch memory of the JUNO-60. The JSQ-60 is capable of both real-time and single-step loading. In the real-time mode, all performances played by the keyboard are loaded. And in the single step mode, the pitch of each note is loaded in each step. While listening to previously loaded per formances, you can overdub up to three times in real time. Shifting the JUNO-60's patch memory and starting/stopping the JSQ-60 can be controlled by a DP-2 pedal switch. A cassette interface is provided for limitless data storage.
