EML Poly Box

via this auction

"This is a very rare and unusual keyboard that acts as a unique accessory for any monophonic synthesizer or sound source. Plug a mono source into the input of the Poly Box and it will take the input waveform and allow you to play chords with it, effectively turning a mono source into a polyphonic output. It also has its own internal oscillators, so it can generate polyphonic sound all by itself. You can lock a chord on the Poly Box and then vary the pitch of the mono input, thereby changing the root pitch of the output chord. Additional controls allow you to add an additional tone either one or two octaves below the input, and to transpose everything down an octave, as well as adjust brilliance and add phasing. This unit takes your mono synth into a whole new world of polyphony. Check out a demonstration video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5miWpNpyjA" (previously posted here)

Arp Sequencer - Model 1623

via this auction

"This is a vintage analog sequencer in excellent condition. It can generate a single sequence of control voltages of up to 16 steps or two sequences of up to 8 steps each. These control voltages are typically used to effect the pitch of an analog synthesizer, but can be routed to any analog input accepting voltage control, like filter cutoff, resonance, etc. It is very versatile, as the control voltages can be assigned to any of three busses, allowing various effects like sequences of different tempos and timings and the ability to chain to other similar sequencers..."

Free Weekly Ableton Live Rack # 15: AfroDJMac Fender Feedback

YouTube Uploaded by AfroDjMac on Jul 4, 2011

"Here's two instrument racks I created using screeching feedback from my Fender Mustang and Jag-Stang guitars, played through my sea-foam green Fender Deluxe. Surprisingly, despite coming from such a loud and wild source, these racks are fairly mellow and reminiscent of a vintage keyboard. In the video, I show you how the racks work and take you through the effects. I also spend a little time explaining how I achieve the mapping on my racks. Enjoy and spread the word :)

Download the rack here: http://bit.ly/freesynth15

**Non Live users: You can use the samples in your DAW of choice**

Thanks for watching :)

And some additional info vi AfroDJMac:
"AfroDJMac here, back again with another free Ableton Rack, number 15 "Fender Feedback Rack." Being a guitarist, I always loved the sound of the electric guitar growling over into harmonically rich feedback. So I set up my Fender Mustang and Fender Jag-Stang, ran them through my trusty sea-foam green Fender Deluxe, cranked up the gain and began sampling. If you were there, listening to all that noise I was making, you''d be surprised at how the final product turned out. More like a vintage electric piano, rich and warm in flavor, I might even call this instrument "mellow." Even though, in all honesty, I was hoping for something as ruthless as the source material, this instrument has warmth and character oh so pleasing to my ear.

Here's the rack: bit.ly/freesynth15

After doing this for 15 weeks now, I've reflected back to when I first began releasing these racks, and I had no idea how many people could be reached nor how nice it'd be to hear from people all over the world. Creating these racks is truly a pleasure and I thank you for spreading the word. :)"

"For sale we have a Korg DW-8000 digital/analog hybrid synthesizer. The Korg DW-8000 uses digital waveform oscillators with analog sound shaping and a digital effects processor. The simple, but effective architecture of the DW-8000 is capable of some amazingly unique sounds."

Roland HS-60 Juno-106 analog synthesizer

via this auction

"Roland HS-60 analog synthesizer. The HS-60 is the "home" version of the famous Roland Juno-106.

The HS-60 has exactly the same sounds and capabilities as the Juno-106, but had additional internal speakers and a more subdued color scheme.

NOTE: This HS-60 has had the internal speakers/amplifier removed, saving weight. This means that it must be plugged into an amplifier to produce sound."

Yamaha CS-30L analog synthesizer

via this auction

"The CS-30L is the "learning" version of the Yamaha CS-30.

The CS-30L is one of the most powerful analog synthesizers ever released. The CS-30L has exactly the same sound creation capabilities as the CS-30, with the exception of the simple 8-step sequencer (which is not present on the CS-30L)

The CS-30L has a slightly different panel layout, with more controls on the left-hand side of the panel.

The CS-30L also has a self-contained carry case with included legs for a built-in stand."

Snare massaged then to Roland RE-201 Space Echo.
Hihats to EliKing Light sensitive delay soda-POP can.
HiTom Trigger out to AKS #1 (Hi Input Ch.2)
Headphone out to AKS #2 (Hi Input Ch.2)
Main output to AKS #1 (Hi Input Ch.1)
Steiner-Crumar Masters Touch breath controlled resonant analog filter and CV controller puts out voltage from breath, bite and touch. Sooo much fun had the Breath Transducer going out to AKS #2 (Hi Input Ch.1).Only stinky breath is used in this vid!!! No bite or touch.

John Macedo | Double Pendulum Music from John Macedo | The Black Plume on Vimeo.

"Double Pendulum Music is an autonomous installation, nonlinearity and chaos are explored sonically (chaotic sound synthesis) and visually (chaotic motion). Establishing itself somewhere between generative composition and kinetic sculpture, the chaotic motion of a double pendulum is used as a source of uncertainty to create chaotic harmonic and rhythmic auditory events in real-time. The natural laws at work create complex aural and visual behaviour from simple interactions. As a result, the events heard and seen are never the same twice, making Double Pendulum Music a celebration of unpredictability and sensitivity.

Sound Synthesis realised in the SuperCollider programming language. Recorded at Modes sound exhibition, Truman Brewery London, 5th June 2011

"Late night live jam with my Yamaha Tenori-on, recorded ~1AM, 5th July, 2011.

Not recommended for those allergic to synthetic cowbells.

Well, yeah, I've had the TR-808, TR-606 and mouth samples loaded into my TNR-W for years so it's about time I did something with them. And it's also good to force oneself to escape the seductive low-tempo ambient Tenori-on habit where most of it's sounds sit most comfortably, idly noodling along at 70 bpm. This is what resulted.

I don't know why the video glitches occasionally - I recorded the laptop's webcam with PhotoBooth - but I like it. Audio was taken directly from the Tenori-on into the MacBook Pro's audio input where Ableton Live was waiting to gobble it up. No post-processing was applied other than tweaking the level and a touch of soft compression & limiting. Monitoring was done through my Grado SR80i headphones, again plugged straight into the MacBook Pro's built-in audio output.

That's about as minimal a gear load-out as I can get without twitching. Oh wait, I guess a Yamaha BC1 breath controller should also be included as I used it to prop the laptop up at an effective angle for it's iSIght to catch all the high-octane point-and-poke 'action.'"

Wurlitzer Analog Swingin' Rhythm Drum Machine 5020

via this auction
SN E210732
"Wurlitzer Model 5020 Analog Drum Machine. Electronic Swingin' Rhythm, Model 5020. I'd say this is probably early 1970's. Great vintage sound. Trigger (or play) the kit yourself with depression buttons for bass, brush, snare (roll), block, and cymbal.

If you've played one of these before, I don't need to describe the simple pleasure of playing a really complicated beat on four or five fingers and having your other hand free as well as your feet for bass and lead parts. The built in loops are pretty standard for the era of organ accessory drum machines: Waltz, Latin, Foxtrot, Teen, & March.

You can double and triple up the loops as well as adjust tempo, and also add your own embellishments with the five individual drums that you can trigger. The light on the left is power, the light on the right flashes in time with your preset tempo.

This isn't a super easy drum machine to find, both in terms of general scarcity and because if you have one, you're playing it. Fresh from a local estate. It's about 4" tall, 7-1/2" wide and 9" deep. It is unique and different from the Roland, Univox, Maestro, Korg or other combo organ analog drum machines you'll find around.

It is a mono unit, single RCA output as well as an auxiliary input, and an external control that must be organ driven via single RCA. Great old drum machine with a great sound. Someone else wrote on Ebay awhile back but 'The subtle uniqueness of this machine truly stands out in a mix, and that is why rappers, hip-hop artists, and circuit-benders seek them out. Uniqueness is in and it can bend!'"

Pland Studios (Prince, Starship, Journey...) Matrix-12 for Sale?

via this auction
More pics at the auction while up.
SN M51406
"This is a very well kept (see pics) COLLECTORS ITEM Oberheim Matrix 12 with some famous history/ownership/usage behind it. This EXACT Matrix 12 and sounds created by it was used by PRINCE on a album !!!, Mariah Carey's producers on 2 albums !!, Jefferson Starship, Journey,
Huey Lewis and The News on 2 albums, Toni Toni Toni, Too Short, and a lot more !!!

READ THIS DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY TO UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF THIS RARE BEAST.

This Matrix 12 has had 2 owners. Currently me (the second owner), and before me the original owner who bought it brand new in 1984.

This original owner whom I personally bought it from was Arne Frager the owner of world famous recording studio "The Plant Studios"
(Link Here: THE PLANT STUDIOS ). Arne Frager is also a famous musician and producer. He did that song "Somebody's Watching Me" by Rockwell at his studio (The Plant Studios) with producer Curtis Anthony Nolen. Great story how he met Michael Jackson (who sang the hook in his studio) and Berry Gordy (owner of Motown and Rockwells dad), etc..

Anyway, Arne Frager bought this Matrix 12 brand new in 1984 when they first were released for his studio's (The Plant Studios) "in house synth". It remained as The Plant Studios' main "in house synth" from 1984 till The Plant Studios went out of business in 2008. Thats when I bought it from him. Thats 24 years of usage in a worldwide known famous studio like that. That studio was visited by various famous people everyday, literally.

Now, Arne had plenty of great stories about this Matrix 12, and who used it over the time on their albums/singles while it was in use at The Plant Studios. But to make it short, just do the math = Most artists that recorded at The Plant Studios between 1984 and 2008 and ALSO recorded a synth sound on their song has used and personally touched this exact Matrix 12 you are bidding on. Not to mention this EXACT Matrix 12's sounds are heard on their famous songs that are/were all over the Billboard Charts. To get a rough idea of just a few artists/producers that have personally used this exact Matrix 12, just go to the discography page of The Plant Studios here: THE PLANT STUDIOS DISCOGRAPHY , then look at every artist that recorded there between 1984 and 2008, and if they also had a synth sound in their song(s), then that synth sound on their album/single/Billboard hit is this EXACT Matrix 12 you are bidding on !!

According to Arnie, to name a few that for sure personally used this EXACT Matrix 12 in this listing (or their producers) for their famous song(s) or album(s) that you know of so well are:

MARIAH CAREY on 2 albums !!, PRINCE !!!, Jefferson Starship, Journey, Huey Lewis and The News on 2 albums, Toni Toni Toni,
Michael Bolton, Kenny G, Too Short, and many others. Those were just the main ones that stuck out.

I mean Prince's hands literally have touched and used this EXACT Matrix 12 in this listing !! Mariah Carey's producers literally touched and used this exact Matrix 12 in this listing for 2 albums of songs !!! Plus many others as you can see. Sounds this EXACT Matrix 12 has created are the ever so famous catchy synth sound you hear in the above mentioned artists Billboard hits of the time. When you hear their songs on the radio, them sounds are this EXACT synth ! This is what happens when a instrument is in such a world famous well known studio such as The Plant Studios. So this Matrix 12 is POURING over with Mojo, and historic history making vibes from the Stars !

On this page with all the other pictures of the unit, I have included a picture of the receipt Arne Frager gave me when I bought it, and will include that ORIGINAL receipt with the Matrix 12 as a "Certificate Of Authenticity". As you can see, it has The Plant Studios letter head, and Arne's signature (worth something in itself really !), and no, the blurred out marks on the picture of it are NOT on the original that you will be receiving. Between that and calculating the discography of that studio, you can piece the rest together."
