SND ACME-4 Advanced MIDI Clock System

via this auction

"Manufacturer Description:
the ultimate in musical clock generation & manipulation

- The only device in the world to generate a MIDI master clock that is absolutely jitter-free !!
- Derives a highly accurate clock from any audio workstation or computer
- Generates 4 separate clock streams
- Each clock stream has its individual MIDI output. 2 streams also generate 24-ppq signals (“Roland sync”), while the other 2 provide trigger and reset signals for analog sequencers and arpeggiators.
- Each clock stream can be time-shifted in relation to the master clock, in extremely small increments as well as in 16th-note steps.
- Each clock stream can be set to double or half tempo, and can be turned on and off without loosing synchronicity.
- A swing or shuffle factor can be set individually for each clock stream. The swing pattern can be the same for all 4 streams, or it can be a different one for each. A software editor for these patterns is included.
- Complete settings of all controls can be stored and recalled. All parameters can be remote controlled via MIDI. A setup mode allows to set precise absolute offsets for each clock, to compensate for technical reaction time differences of the various devices connected.
- Like all SND products, the ACME-4 has been designed with great attention to detail. The 32-bit risc-processor ensures lightning-fast reaction. High-grade components (gold-plated jacks, switches, and push-buttons, sealed Alps potentiometers etc.) and a rugged metal casing ensure decades of reliable operation.
- Size: 217 mm (width) x 160 mm (depth) x 68 mm (height), powered by USB or external supply"

"For sale is an SND Acme-4. Considered the best midi clock synchronizer out there. Pretty much essential if you have a plethora of various new and old gear that you'd like to sync with your DAW and get them all in time with each other. The awesome thing is it lets you time shift and swing in real time, very nice way to get cool grooves going. These cost $1450 new and hardly ever show up for sale used. This one is in mint shape and fully functional. Comes with the usb cable shown."

Salvation Session # Dubtechno Jam

Published on Nov 11, 2019 VØSNE

(Tempest DrumImpact VC340 SpaceEcho Prophet6 Perfourmer Strymon..)

#vøsne #ThomasCarmody #Khlev #spclnch
Thomas Carmody & Khlev - Save Me (incl Vosne remix)
Released on Spclnch 2019
https://spclnch.bandcamp.com/album/sa...

"Dubtechno session played live & recorded reel to reel, using revox b77, roland space echo re-201, Arturia DrumImpact, Behringer VC340, Sequential dsi Prophet 6, DSI Tempest, Prophet 12, vermona perfourmer mkII, elektron octatrack & Analog Rhythm, Strymon Bigsky & Timeline, Jomox T-Resonator II, livid cntrl-r, Ableton live for samples.
All the synth on the stand are going thru the mackie mixer. All the synth are midi slaves and sequenced by the Octatrack. DrumImpact patern is going thru VC340 vocoder (sequenced by OT) + Jomox T-Resonator II. To fade in or out a synth, i use the cutoff filter mostly and when the sound is almost vanished, i shut down the sequenced midi channel on the Octatrack. On the Mackie mixer are coming external auxilliar fx like Space echo, Time line & Bigsky. Each channel/synth can get the proper amount of fx i want at anytime. Also i root 3 output channels from the Tempest to the Mackie : 1 stereo & 1 mono. I can use the send fx on those channels (usually stereo is for tempest synth and mono for rhythm elements). The Mackie stereo output is going to the soundcard Input channel. Midi Clock is from SND Acme-4. Concerning Ableton, i control the mix, the send fx & mute with livid cntrl-r. I play samples (Voice & Chords from the original track)

I hope you will enjoy this one too !"

"Love Like Blood" sound on Akai AX-80

video upload by Valmont

"Waking up from a 9 minutes nap the other day I thought, out of nowhere, that the AX-80 had this OB-X resonance character... Immediately wondering about the hollow synth patch from Killing Joke, "Love Like Blood". So I went to recreate it, and well it sounds pretty close - especially when you know how far an OB-X and the AX-80 are from each other. The OB-X has discrete VCF, somewhere based on the SEM module, when the AX-80 has the CEM-3372 chip, which came later in the Oberheim Matrix-12 / Xpander. So that's some funny coincidence these sound in a similar way!

0:25 Creating the AX-80 patch
1:37 Effects
2:43 Sound check

Detailed AX-80 patch:
- OSC 1: Range 4' / Saw / Sub On / Out 99
- OSC 2: Range 16' / Detune 40 / Saw+Square / Cross Position 1 / Out 99
- VCF: Cutoff 55 / Resonance 63 / EG 50 / Key Follow 39 / High Pass 35
- EG: VCA=VCF mode / Attack 34 / Decay 46 / Sustain 70 / Release 23
- LFO OSC 1: Depth 10, Speed 21, Wave 4 (Triangle)

Detailed FX:
- SoundToys Decapitator
Brings some crunch material on the high part of the spectrum.
A gentle drive at 5%, in mode A, High Pass at mid range, tone at about 2pm. The whole thing 100% wet.
- Arturia Flanger BL-20
The closest plugin I had for that super slow phasing effect. I feel like the original sound had an additional chorus, before the flanger. Anyway, not too much doppler effect (Mix at 25%), rate at mid range, depth at 2pm. Add some High Pass on the wet signal at about 40%.
- Brainworx ACME Opticom XLA-3:
An opto comp that adds a bunch of super cool sounding harmonics. The input stage is always driving, so more than an opto comp I use it to give some super analog feeling. Basically slow response, overdriving the input (Input at 4) and well that's all x)
- Brainworx SSL4000-E
My favorite console sound :D Add some THD (-57dB on my slot), -6dB at 450Hz (LS), -2dB at 600Hz (HMF) and +5dB at 5.5KHz (HS). I really love the airy sound of this channel, it brings so much harmonic content created by the previous stuff!
- GoodHertz Megaverb 3
Depending of the mix version for the song, the amount of reverb is different. So I chose a nice long discrete verb for listening pleasure x) Basically reverb tone C, 4s decay, frequency range from 225Hz to 6KHz, at 9% wet.
- IK TR5 EQual
Remove some bits of the spectrum to get it less heavy: attenuation on the first harmonics (700Hz) and top-end content to avoid too much distortion sound in the balance. One more High Pass at 200Hz... And that's all!

Lassence uVentury II

Anyone know what happened to the Lassence uVentury II? I remember when it was first announced. Frederic sent me a link to the Lassence uVentruy II page on Gearjunkies. I did a quick search and found this detailed article on Sound on Sound, dated May '03. Both the SOS article and Gearjunkies page links to www.bluebay.be which now appears to be a data warehousing and business intelligence company.

If anyone out there has one or knows more please feel free to comment. I'm curious to how they sounded. It's a gorgeous looking synth.

Update via the comments (make sure to check out the other comments as well):

"OK,The lassence ventury II was made in 14 exemplaries + the prototype, all including the proto was sold.
It was totaly handcrafted, pots are alsp plastic conductive, but are of bad mechanicaly quality, the VCO's are stablebut only Volt/octave for a range of maximum 3.5 octaves (if you calibrate them)(none on the sold units where properly calibrated) Components and manufacture of prints and case was high-Q. Indeed the VU serve for nothing, and the Wave-X is poor, also the ADSR has a faulty thing, but can be updated just by adding one single resistor. The filter is SEM influenced.

Story: The unit was originaly designed that wy because the guy that have invest in the proto wants a tube-tech look. The project was abandoned. Untill X found a new interested distributor.

It went ok ,and units get starting manufacturing, but the death-end of shipping was to soon ,and the product wasn't througfully tested, thats why problems with pots,adsr,wave-x and,not calibrated!

On top of that meanwhile some units where 'fixed' the distributor absolutely want to send a unit for review to s.0.s,...this was the death before the unit was born!

Retail price was way to high because the machine was totaly hand assambled + the bad s.o.s review..... the last 4 units where sold for only 600$ (i buyed 2 of them, been close friend to the guy who's buit them,i fixed them very quick)(any unit can be turn into a very nice reliable machine just by changing all pots, fix the adsr, and tune the vco's 1v/oct.)

In fact the modules where available since years already, the guy was an ex-ACME member in 80ties and then at that period they where distributor for the digisound brand . We have sale a lot of modules in early 90ties untill our huge curtis stock was empty At huge demand the complete set was completely re-designed using discrete components.
Most of our systems where sold to the country's techno underground scene that use them in there live acts, all always made completely custom on special orders. It had created a very closed entourage almost a myth as manny people want them but not could reach the builder any way,as everything was keept secret by the scene. Untill it was time ('i' think it was time, that these deserve more respect). So i/we decided to re-launche them 'properly' and start to manufacture them like beatufull modules of other brands.

The basic set is complete.

DUAL VCO/LFO
DUAL ADSR
MULTIMODE 12db VCF
24db VCF
DUAL VCA
DUAL Ring Modulator
8-step sequential voltage source
quad VCO/LFO
Wave multiplier (this kills now! it sound identical to the serge middle section, thougt ofcourse
electronic design is different.

Still available
CEM 3340 VCO (if u supplie the cem)

Buzzy Project
Sequencer
High-end vco (v/oct. at wide span)

All modules are at same pitch off MOTM.etc so you can easy fit them together.

These modules 'sounds' or better what you can do with it,is very different
compared to other vintage or commercial products.
They where basicaly intended to create 'alien-like' new sound sculptions, and not to
use them to play do,re,mi,fa,so...Ofcource you can.
the in and outputs are very high, you can do extreme feedbacks and modulations between modules.
I have try lot of modulars,we have client that have an MOTM,MOOG,and our new modules...

If i know how i can post a pic here,i can present soon exclusive for matrixsynth
the the proto...and finaly eventualy sond files

see u l8r alig8r"

In a while crocodile. Thank you!
